  1. I get every year a letter from my embassy, that my penson is 70+K THB.

I can proofe (bank account), that every month about 40K THB from outside TH are sent to my account: Thai bank.

It's enough for me to "survive" (have car and house, eat farang food, smoke and drink alcohol, have health insurance and support family) Very happy ...

    I'm not married.

My question: OK for extension of retirement visum ???

OR do I have to transfer (and proof) 65K every month to my account ???

  2. What I do not understand: My embassy confirms that I have a pension with 70K+ / month.

I have a car, health insurance, drink alkohol. smoke and eat farang food and help my Thai family with about 20K / month.

WHY to show 65K from outside TH every month on my bank account ???

    I live since 20 years with 45K - 50K /month!

How many IO can or do spend 65K every month? If they have a mia noi OK, but I do not have to pay one ...

End of year I will have about 200K on my bank account. Send it back - possible, I tried it, - but expensive!

PS I'm not married. My Thai partner will get the house, 4 rai land and my car including a last will with 20K / mont when I dye earlier. But 800 K on my bank account - if I'm forced to put the money there - should go to my children. but how ???

In a nutshell then, if you really wish to retire in Thailand & make it your new home just put

one million Baht in a savings account, getting interest every 3 months & forget about it

until next years extension comes along.

If you are not prepared to do that, maybe should go back

Sorry, I dont agree! I live 20y in TH with the 65K rule. 800K for what ... In Th expats dye every day - on road or in bed. My bank accont always shows between 50K and 250K. If I dye I do not care about, but 800K I will benefit my chidren not a bank and not TH. Btw I could afford 1 million Baht - even more, but what for ???

These people who do not trust the local banks.....what basis do they have for this mistrust? Are there any forum posters who have lost a large sum of money that was deposited in a Thai bank? I’ve never met or heard of anyone who this has happened to.

It's not only trust in Thai banks ... 800K and I dye tomorrow (it happens at Thai roads) and my children will never see a Baht (they life in Germany) ... “last will” I do not believe it works in TH.

The immigration at Airport said, there is no need to show those 20k in Bath for tourists, would be difficult if you are a 1st timer to get those (multiple) 20k. If you travel over a land border there is a chance. No worries for you daughter.

This is more a order to keep the permanent tourists without valid visa's away.

Thanks for your answer. Anyway they will not come without money ...

  6. Hadi8253 why would they let you know? Who are you? Is it a retirement or marriage extension?

"Anybody with similar experiences? Please let me know!"

...similar experiences with extension of visa at Kap Choeng. Member of this forum: please let me know!

With marriage extension you always have to wait for OK from BKK, but as a retired Single I got the extension since 15 years always the same day.

Btw Who are you ? Your answer hmmmm ....

I'm a long term resident of Thailand. I've never had any problems getting an extension. Red flags go up in my mind every time I read the words, "a friend of mine." Do you get your extensions at KCI? Why not go there and tell us what they say?

It's the same three or four posters who bring up extensions being delayed for home visits and embassy letters not being accepted over and over again. Makes one wonder why.

"long term resident": Sorry, me only 15 years living here.

I wrote Kap Choeng - I think that is what you call KCI (first read, second write)

I wrote: all paperwork (incl. letter from embassy) were OK! (first r, 2nd w...)

My red flags go up when I ask members of the forum for a informative answer and get an answer like this

"long time resident" in your case maybe too long.

  8. "But I can not believe that a single immigration office can change the rules published by www.immigration.go.th this way."

Unfortunately they have every right to put any extension under consideration and check anyones address at any time.

Your friend has nothing to worry about. As long as he lives where he says he lives then everything will be ok.

"put any extension under consideration and check anyones address at any time"

Does it also meen they can deny an extension if you sit in immigration office at "Due date" .... ?

  9. New regulations - and it seems only for Kap Choeng - I cant believe it ....

It happened today (26.8.15). A friend (84 y old retired and more than 100 000 B / month) got only a "temorary permit for 2 month" because the immigration has first to check his home. If there everything will be OK, he can get the extention for one year.

(btw all his paperwork, copies, monthly income etc. were absolutly Ok (he knows what they want to see ...) and he got his visum every year but not today ...)

We heard about this new procedure in advance and asked a lawyer to call. The lawyer got the answer: YES!

But I can not believe that a single immigration office can change the rules published by www.immigration.go.th this way.

Anybody with similar experiences? Please let me know!

  10. Chong Chom.

I went there for 90 days.

Did not leave Thailand / cross the border

Bought 3 cartons of Marlboro cigaretts (250 B for 1) on Thai - side

    Drove back

At Prakonchai intersection with 24 had to stop at red light.

Custom officals came across and asked me if I bougth cigarettes - yes

    follow this car

At the customs building Prakonchai they explaned me: 1 carton only ...

I tried to explain: I did not smuggel this cartons into Thailand, I bought it on Thai territory

OK, if you do not pay now, we go to court ...

15000 B and the cigarettes have gone (tried to get 1 carton back - no way)

There were more then 20 officals working in this building

Everything clearly documented in English - I got a receipt

I have seen the "book" and the confiscated stuff - also Thais were fined ...

I was informed: Now we (the customs) do not inform police (immigration)

Not interested to become blacklisted due to this "accident"

Still sure: No scam ! The law ... in this case was enforced (also the amount - if I remember 400% of normal duty - I could use a calculater ...)

There are Thais hanging around, they get paid if they see you buying then call the customs about your car number ...

    That's it

  11. In 2001 (58 years old) I chose Bupa Thailand as my health insurance. The benefit plan (Ruby), the guaranty of “life time” if I pay yearly my premium, the yearly amount for my premium, all this seemed to be OK.

It worsened in 2006 (63y). The premium raised yearly, in 2009 when I became 66 by almost 20 % also I did not make any claim. During the last 6 years the premium has almost doubled!

According to Bupa “medical inflation” and/or “age band” is responsible for the increase. My repeated question how much I will have to pay next year, when I will become 70 has after 9 (nine !) emails not yet been answered.

And it became really bad: My wife also insured by Bupa since 2001, never made a claim had a premium raise at 37,25 % when her age changed from 55 to 56 years.

The promise of “renewal is guaranteed for life” is easy done by Bupa. Bupa will raise the premium every year without any warning until you will be happy to leave this company …
