put yourselves in the shoes of people from isaan for example.....Each time your democratically elected government by huge majority gets overthrown by upperclass coups, then surely your logical course of action would be to want autonomy.

Remind me where I heard a political party address a crowd of it's followers from a stage and order an attack on a hospital(Siriraj IIRC), as well as the actual storming of another hospital. It fits a pattern although I am at a loss as to why team rouge feel the need to attack hospitals, don't suppose many of their members took the hippocratic oath?
its just as likely to be yellow attackers as it is reds

One day in the future Artificial Intelligence (AI) may be created, at that moment will this count as a re-birth of a sentient being? Or the creation from scratch of a new being?
On a similar note, how about identical twins? When a single embryo (one being) divides for the first time into 2 new daughter cells, usually the division carries on in to a multi-cellular organism of one being. In the case of identical twins the first 2 daughter cells after the first cell division seperate and become 2 genetically identical twins. Do these 2 identical twins share the same karma from previous lives?
The same goes for ants and bees of a single nest who are all clones/identical twins of each other apart from the queen who is the mother.

A good start to remedy the situation would be to give about $30 billion of public money to the poorest people of thailand i think. This would greatly ease the suffering.

"Democrats" complaining about elections
Speak for those drunken mafia fists fights at the parliament of your old hammer and sickle first.
They just wants checks and balances as dems...and now riot police? Never were there for the dems.
Well when the going gets tough, hope the army get going; before PT take over that area, which they're in the midst of doing.
Dems are the only ones trying to prevent dictatorships; but if you like the hammer and sickle.............................
yes thailand needs a heavy dose of socialism

i'm anti hi-so thai because they prevent working class thais from improving their lives, just like any where else in the world. I think hi-so thais understand that their status of power can only be maintained if the working classes are subdued. In a fully functioning democracy the "reds" in whatever reincarnation they call themselves (Pheu thai, PPP, thai rak thai party etc) would be forever in power.
Do you actually think that would help? How do you think Thailand would look after 20 years of Chalerm and the rest in full control?
sure it would help if the people in government represented the people, and whose policies reflect what the people want. At any rate democracy is only concerned with acting out the will of the people, what the country will look like in the future is irrelevant.
So if the people want a guaranteed 5,000 baht a day income then the government should just give them it because that's the will of the people?
Do you understand democracy? Do you understand why it can't work?
you miss the point.....sure a 5k baht income for everyone wouldnt work. Nevertheless if that policy appealed to the electorate and thats what they vote for, then thats exactly the government they will get.

Hope its not a requirement and just a suggestion to give up the seat. It would be unfair to non-buddhists.
Personally i would only give up my seat to a monk is he was old or pregnant..... (or carrying loads of shopping bags from MBK)

yeah be careful, a few years a go the american government produced a quantity of fake tungsten cored bars, thankfully the chinese government detected them when the US tried to ship them there

eg the locking of a thread on thaivisa
hi rockyystd do you not think that the truth is not always beneficial to know then?
i guess that many feel that ignorance is bliss, personally i believe the truth however painful is always best.
also the problem with points 1-5 is that it implies that the tathagata knows what is best for others, which comes down to opinion in the end. which is why censorship is wrong, let people decide for themselves what is junk/factual/spam.
imflammatory post which criticise thai buddhism should be allowed to remain and the thread unlocked.

would an enlightened person want to silence another?

mine would be Pridi Phanomyong. This brave pioneer, who was one of the main players of the 1932 revolution would even make it onto a list of world greats. I highly recommend his book "Pridi by Pridi: Selected Writing on Life, Politics, and Economy"
Who would you choose?

i too have often felt sadness at the lack of standing thai nuns have, last week i accompanied a friend of mine to ตักบาตรเทโว (dag baad tey wo) at the local wat in her country village in Pichit. The procession of monks came out headed by who i assumed to be the top dog / abbot. He pushed before him on a wheel chair a giant alms bowl i would say 50 cm in diameter. The chain of monks came through (novices included), to which the people offered their money/food/drink, gradually those offering depleted what they had, and left to go home. Then last in line of the 100 or so monks came a 60-65 year old nun who hardly got any offerings because most of the villagers had left. What kind of system allows such a lifelong devotee to have to defer to novices purely based on her sex? I'm certain that most of the novices who were there receiving, were they because their parents told them to, as opposed to this dignified lady who was there through choice.
Hate to grumble but this is important. How can women in thai society ever improve their situation if thai buddhism who most thais respect, sets such a bad example.
hopefully one day nuns will be prominent in the sangha

How can you use 3GB in one day............!!
i use my phone as portable hub often!

i bought a galaxy note 2 few days ago and then bought from AIS their 799 baht unlimited package (first 3Gb at 3G speeds and thereafter EDGE unlimited). I burnt up the first 3 gigabyte on the first day, after which they sent me an SMS saying that my 3G allowance was depleted. However when i connect my galaxy note 2 to the internet i still get the H+ icon and not the E icon on the top of the screen. Why is this?
secondly a 3 gig allowance at 3G speeds for a 800 baht package seems pretty unfair, when do you think we can expect unlimited data at 3G speeds?
thanks
PS......... galaxy note2....... man what a beast !

The Rohingyas are Bangladeshi illegal settlers.
The Burmese had every right to expel them.
The Bangla govt should get their priorities right...e.g birth control and such.
The world has no obligation to take surplus Bangladeshis in...
history shows that these people lived in Myanmar way before Myanmar was founded

FIRST POST!!!
(Oh gawd, a burger topic)
1. The Dukes (The main branch on the river)
2. Irish Pub (On Ratwithi Road; get the everything-burger)
After that it depends on personal preference and budget. I'm rather partial to the Big Kahuna burger myself.
Go!
where is the Big Kahuna burger then?
thanks
-
thanks for reminding me never to buy and rent only!
-
yes it is terrible.
just like the persecution of the Rohingya muslim people in Myanmar
minorities are easy targets to blame for general suffering in impoverished communities

yes this is also true........
in conclusion thailand is a cobbled together union of peoples who dont want to be together.......
the southern thai provinces would rather unite with malay as they once were, while issan would rather be united to laos with whom they share a common history
