For the records I though I should update this thread. As I did not want to take any chances for getting caught for overstay (even if the mistake was done by the IO at Suvarnabhumi Airport I ) I went to Chaeng Wattana and got the date corrected. It seemed that the wrong date stamp is fairly common as when I mentioned this at the information in CW the lady just shook her head and said: "Ah wrong stamp again. Go to section K1!". The process was fairly fast and I did not need to pay. The most painful part was the taxi ride back and forth from Sukhumvit to CW.

Be aware that a visit to Chaeng Wattana immigration (Bangkok) is time consuming.
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I am aware of that. Do you know if there is any other immigration office closer to lower Sukhumvit which can correct the date?

To the OP : does you entry stamp show August 2nd as entry date?
Yes, it does.

You got the correct number of days. The date you enter the country is day one of the 30 days.
You can apply for a 30 day extension at immigration for a fee of 1900 baht.
Or if leaving before midnight on the 31st you could depart from either airport in Bangkok and not pay a 500 baht fine for one day of overstay.
Thanks for your reply. Actually I do have a flight before midnight of the 31st but I am more concerned about overstaying than 500 baht fine. As this was a mistake by the IO I was thinking maybe there is a way to fix this at the immigration without needing to apply for extension.

I arrived today (Aug 2) at Suvarnabhumi airport from Europe and I was planning to stay for 30 days on visa exemption. I just noticed that I have got permitted to stay until Aug 30 instead of Aug 31. I have a return flight in the evening of Aug 31 so I wonder how I can fix this.

Thanks for all the replies. It seems that I can't do much until I get back to Thailand.
I came to think of another issue which might arise. My bank in Europe automatically sends me a new card a couple of months before my current card expire so I don't need to request a renewal. Is it the same for the Thai banks? As I said I don't have a permanent address in Thailand so the bank has the address of the apartment I was living in Bangkok at the time I opened the account. -
I have a K-debit card which expires in May 2016. I am in Europe now and most probably my next tip to Thailand will be in October 2016. I have access to K--bank’s online banking so my question is if it is possible to request a new card online and have it sent to my address in Europe. Of course I would pay all the relevant fees and postage cost for this. I should add that I don’t have a permanent address in Thailand.
I have searched k-bank’s Web site for this but I could not find any information in English. Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks for this, jaybas.
I understand that you have just got this information from DTAC but do you know what they mean by item 1 and 3?
However, if you are not convenience to do so, please provide your documents and follow
the instruction as below in order to make a special SIM registration request;(1) Place the document on empty paper and state the following detail:-

(3) Passport , SIM card showing the number 8966 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
(4) Write down the remark on paper clearly and certified by your signature

Thanks for this. I would like to use this method. However, I was not sure how and where the documents need to be submitted. Could you provide more details?
thank you for your replies, I had emailed DTAC and recieved the following for those who are in need. I figured I would pass along my inquiries.

It might be VoipStunt.
What OS, what store, what exact name of app. Voip is a method, not an app name. There are over 500 apps in the Google Play Store with VoIP in the name.
Most would not allow FREE calls to Australia.

Many thanks smileplur for taking the time to make the Google map. Very useful indeed.

Thanks smileplur for your reply. The closest BTS station to me is Phrom Phong so I guess Phra khaonong BTS would work best for me.
You didn't say which BTS station you are near. I can direct you to a few shops all over the place. The ones I know of off the top of my head are located close to Phrakhaonong BTS, On Nut BTS, Queen Sirikit MRT, and Klong Toei MRT. Which one works best for you?

I have a couple of PDF files in a USB memory stick and I need to print them out. There are in total about 300 pages. I stay in Sukhumvit area and I asked an Internet cafe nearby and they asked 10 Baht per page. In Chiang Mai I have printed the same kind of files for 1 Baht/page but I am not so familiar with Bangkok so I would appreciate if anyone could point me to a shop which can do the job for a more reasonable price. I stay close to a BTS station in Sukhumvit but I can also use MRT if there is a shop in that route. Thanks.

I am planning to take my parents to Bangkok for a couple of weeks this December. This will be their first trip to Thailand so I would like to show them some of the tourist attractions in the city. Unfortunately both of them have severe arthritis in their knees so although they can slowly move around inside apartment they need to use wheel chair for any longer distances.
I was wondering if there is a company where I could rent two wheel chairs during their stay here. I will also need at least one person to help me during our day trips. Is there a company which provides these services in Bangkok? Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have.

Thanks Upnotover and tombkk for your useful replies. That is exactly kind of information I was hoping to get.

Thanks for the link terryq. I should be fine then.
The answer is yes... and no.
Bulgaria, Cyprus and Romania yes. The rest no, according to

I honestly don't know why people can't do some research on the subject matter before posting on the forum.
It took me all of 1 minute to find out that Americans can enter Taiwn for 30 days and United Kingdom citizens get 90 days.
But after your 1-minute research you still did not answer the question what is the rule for EU citizens (thanks god not every one in EU is from UK!)
-
Well, the subject line says it all so I wonder if EU citizens need visa to visit Taiwan for two weeks?

Kunash,
This is a little off topic but last year once I tried to book a room at ICH thorough their website but surprisingly they could not guarantee a non-smoking room (I have Asthma) so I cancelled and booked in Hyatt Erawan instead. As you have stayed at ICH many times I wonder how do you usually book your room there. Would it be better if I call them?

Thanks for your reply Jim.
In general your passport must be valid for at least six months after the date you enter a foreign country.A hurried CSR just might use the rule of thumb, and deny you boarding with a passport expiration in less than 6 months.
Some interesting tidbits on this subject, from a couple years ago HERE
I certainly wouldn't push this envelope.
I agree, I would not take any chances on this. I will renew my passport before I apply for my visa.
-
Yes Consulate requires six months validity to issue a single entry visa or 18 months to issue a multi entry visa. You said nothing about leaving in March and you did say you had to obtain for Malaysia anyhow. You also stated getting an ED visa which is normally a one year version in EU so would require 18 month validity of passport when issued.
- Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months. The validity of 18 months is required for one year visa application.Suppose I just wanted to travel to Thailand and no other country (like Malaysia in my case). The question is if the Consulate requires six month validity for a single entry visa from the date they issue the visa or from the date the traveler intends to enter the country. In the former case I would not need to renew my passport but in the latter case I would need to do so but that would imply different requirements for passport validity from the Consulate and immigration.

I hope the OP does not mind if I ask a related question here as I am thinking about applying for the same visa in my home country in Europe. Suppose I apply for a Non-OA visa starting from Nov 1, 2022.
1. Do I need to have insurance for one-year period from Nov 1, 2022 to Oct 31, 2023 when I apply for e-visa? I can buy insurance from a company in EU for the whole year and they guarantee coverage according to the limits required in e-visa site.
2. Suppose I leave Thailand at the end of March 2023 and re-enter again in Sep 1, 2023. Do I need to show at immigration at the airport that I have insurance for one year starting from Sep 1, 2023?
Thanks.
