I only spent 4 days in KL 2 years ago, but food, hotels, taxis, public transport were all more than double the cost of BK.<BR><BR> Most the bargain clothes were from Platinum so obviously marked up.We even found one shop selling my brother in laws dresses (no he doesn't wear them) at 800% mark up.<BR><BR> Have the exchange rates effected it or does Malaysia having petronas oil keep the price of things down ? Rent, public transport and street food are all the same in BK as two years ago aren't they ?

KL has may hotels similar in price to BKK. High quality food even at food courts at Petronas Tower not expensive. Example Lasagna about 80-90 baht. Spaghetti Meatballs 90 baht. Indian Food great and cheap. BKK typical Indian entree 120-240 baht. KL can eat a set Thali plate for 60-100 baht and it is excellent. Indian food in BKK way overpriced, even often more expensive than USA. Taxi's in KL a bit more than BKK, but they have an excellent train and bus system. Many many lines to use. In addition, almost all sidewalks are uncluttered so walking is easy rather than akin to a jigsaw puzzle.

Traffic flow much better. Seems there was "city planning" involved.

Haha sorry i have to comment, try living in KL your view would very quickly change.

Trains and Buses they have yes but not in any logical place that you would want to use them. Sidewalks and walking? thats a novelty except for really around Petronas towers. City Planning?? hahahaha the traffic is shocking.

What were in the comparision list? Having lived in KL for 10 years and 5 years in Bangkok, I can easily said that I get more from my Baht than Ringgit. Houses, food, transportation, clubs which are big ticket items are at least 10% more expensive in KL. Got to read the details for a better comparision. Strictly from an actual cost of living comparision, Bangkok is certainly cheaper than KL.

I would agree wtih this, having lived in Bkk and now KL. Taxis are shocking here, beer & alcohol is far more expensive and rents are high for expats. Food etc and general costs are also more expensive. I think its all well and good doing a cost of living comparison but for quality of life then Bkk is way ahead of KL. KL would surely be rated the most boring city in ASEAN! count yourselves lucky living in Bkk, when i get chance i will be back there.

i also thought run flats were more to stop an accident rather than driving any distance - anyway if the book said 200km then that should be ok - i wonder if any damage was caused by leaving the car overnight on a lower pressure tyre?

you wont have a problem - my wife regularly travels with my son. She is Asian with an Asian passport and her own name, he is British with UK passport and my name - never been asked a question - i think you would be surprised how many people live like this.

As for taking without telling her - i will leave that up to your own moral judgement!!

always carry thai driving licence nothing else - comes in useful to get past some of the age checks and passport requirements on some clubs. As for the police they have only ever stopped me once on sukhumvit and asked for ID and another time when they raided a bar in cowboy.

i really dont get it - over reaction again. banning a game will drive it underground and the publicity will make more younger kids want it.

If someone is going to kill / be violent it is either their up bringing or some mental issue in my opinion. I play the game and never felt like killing anyone but then when i was his age i was in the Army getting some discipline to keep me of the streets.

I didnt realize safari world was so bad, last time i was there - 2 years or so ago it was ok for thailand. There is also a zoo / park on the road just before pattaya, not sure of the name that used to be fairly ok.

If you had some cash to save and were looking for high interest no risk savings where would you put it? I am struggling to make my mind up on the issue. Am looking at some 7-8% interest rate accounts and do not want to invest ion stocks etc as dont want the risk.

kids love it and worth a day trip to go there, last time i visited they also had tents you could rent so a weekend there could be fun.

Highly recommended, cant comment on the steak as i don't eat beef but the ice cream is great!!
