  1. Perhaps get back at all those bar owners and setup a bar that ONLY serves free drinks and keep doing it year after year till they all learn their lesson and understand simple economics and living standards! How dare they! I assume all the staff drive mercs and bmw's with that scam? (sic)

  2. It's not a bank, but there's a long-established and reliable safe deposit box place at the entrance to the reception area in Jomtien Complex Condo. I've used them for years and have never had a problem. Opening hours are a lot more user-friendly than a bank, and also open seven days a week. A standard box costs 400 Baht a month, but they also have bigger ones if you need to stash away some large items.

    Thanks for the tip...

    Thats handy info tongue.png

  3. You can buy your Airsoft stuff here http://thailandairsoft.com/ ...

Me and the neighbor went to CAT Sports club and they have a decent airsoft field. There where 6 Thai guys playing there all in hired gear and asked us to join in. We declined simply based on the fact that we didnt have runners on and didnt have enough "farang" team mates whistling.gif

I will pop down on a Saturday/Sunday and grab some pics of the place if anyone is interested.

  4. Pretty amazing....

It sounds like, because we live in Thailand, we should just put up with second rate...

    I disagree

When someone figures it out and decides to create a business with repeat customers in mind, then that will be a success wai2.gif

Good luck to that Entrepreneur who goes against the grain and just does it right!

    Small Edit:

To avoid crap food, i pick my restaurants by the amount of diners there are having a meal...

You'd be eating at Maccas regularly then.giggle.gif

Not really. My wife watches cooking shows and surprises me with splendid dishes all the time. She has perfected scallop potatoes, spaghetti bolognaise, shepherds pie, tacos, beef stew, homemade hamburgers, rissoles, tuna casserole (just to name a few), and has promised me a real cheese cake soon as she can get the kids of the PC so she can YouTube "how to make a cheesecake"

My missus doesnt like the "farang" food that's dished out here (too salty, too sweet or too bland due to inexperience with knowing what the food should taste like), except for the occasional cordon bleu which is quite nice in Soi Bukhao (I forgot the name of the restaurant but its usual very busy)

  5. If you don't leave Pattaya, it's either eat at a local place of your choice which nobody is suggesting that any are world class, cook it yourself, or nothing. I fully respect all of those free will choices. We all have our own personal tolerance levels of what's acceptable enough to spend money on as opposed to nothing.

I completely understand the nothing choice. Before Sunrise, I chose nothing except for a few attempts at cooking some Mexican flavors at home.

But there is an underlying problem which I think many business suffer from.

"Lets employ cheap ass labor" syndrome

Which is then followed up with less clientelle

Which then comes with a side dish of "lower quality food"

And for the desert its "another failed business"

I design sites and do killer SEO and many companies will sacrifice their business to save an extra 30-100 k

Those that dont sacrifice on cheap design and SEO always destroy the competition and make the big bucks...100k is then chump change

And the same should be said about food.

Be up there with the best and see where that takes you before you scrimp on details and think that branching out will solve your cashflow....

  7. I think its managements fault with the staffing issue.

They dont collect stats so cant assign goals.

If they did, they could assign sales quotas. Sell over, get bonus. Sell under consecutively and your out the door.

Not only would sales improve, but so would consumer relations and that all mighty discount that sales people dont give, because they dont give a shit

  8. Probably a dumb question, but what does an Airsoft Team do? Of course I can see it is something to do with shooting, but what are you shooting, targets or each other or what? What's the difference to paintball?

Its actually not that different to paintball. The difference is more the authenticity of a battle, whether it be Jungle warfare, close quarters battle or capture the flag type scenario. You can play world war 2 scenarios, Vietnam scenarios etc. At close distance, you are forbidden to use rifles and must resort to a pistol (depending on the gameplay rules for that field)

If you get shot, depending where you are hit, medics can heal you or if its a kill, then you walk of the field and respawn after x amount of time. Airsoft is more simulated battle.

And yes.. you shoot the other team. Teams from other countries come here or we go there to compete... Im sure many Thais would love to take a crack at a farang team and vice versa... :)

    Cheers

  9. Just Americans, they have a 'special relationship' with Thailand.

So if the relationship goes sour, that would reverse the policy and put american companies in jeopardy... I would assume

Sorta feels a little like racism

The probability of your relationship with your Thai wife going sour is greater than the relationship between Thailand and the US, me thinks.

Hehehe... I guess so... however, at least my wife doesnt say f%$king husband when I walk past :)

  10. I like my taco's and burgers a lot, but I am definitely not that "knowledgeable" about the names of dishes. I just like food that tastes good.

Me,the missus and our 2 kids went to Big C last week and I was delighted to see a taco shop, alas I promised the missus I would eat Thai food, so I kept that promise.

On Monday arvo (this week), we went back to Big C and I was determined to indulge in a taco...

So I went to the counter picked out what I wanted and stared at the thai staff who just sat there.

Just then I thought... "f%$king lazy shit" and I think I must have spoken it as my missus nudged me in the ribs... And just as I walked away, the lazy sod stood up.. (Sorry boy, you just lost your boss some money)

So I went and got a kebab.

To my delight, my missus cooked me a dozen taco's that night which I shared with my neighbor... My missus Youtubes farang cooking shows and practices her cooking skills on me. (The taco's she makes are wonderful)

As for Thai staff and their lack of skills.

Go to Maccas, KFC or any other major fast food place and you will see efficient staff, doing their job properly. I don't think you can blame the staff at all, I think its the person that chooses the staff that needs a spanking!

Next, from what I read, you have a Mexican chef (or Thai trained Mexican chef).... Sack him if he cant cook a simple dish, that's not dry, tastes to salty or sweet. That person surely cant be called a chef!

Is it really that hard to prepare food. Measure out this and that... Heat at this temperature, cook for x minutes and x seconds.... That's how Maccas and the other boys do it and you are guaranteed the same taste every time, (whether you like Maccas or not)... Doesn't sound like there is any consistency, even in the menu as the owner decides to change or do away with dishes, (instead of altering the pricing), that maybe someone might come back for... Sort of like that poster who wanted their scallops :)
