it is my understanding that upon enlisting one has to be less than 60 years old to be accepted.

    That's Thai Social Security.

The insurance for government civil servants does not have an age limit for their parents or spouses.

  2. Direct deposit to my Thai bank account 14 April 2020.  Letter from IRS arrived 4 June 2020.

Third person at my home - check arrived here in KK 4 June 2020.  Supposed to have been mailed 1 May.

Interested to hear from anyone who has been able to cash their check, what bank you used.   Or if not, what the bank(s) said.

    Thanks

By phone, you normally don't have to worry about social distancing.

Off the top, it sounds to me like he already had everything he should need.

Every two or three months, we go to the big public hospital in Khon Kaen...

Which hospital is that?  There are two large public hospitals in KKC.

As of today, Srinagarind (KKU) will let you register to get your meds delivered to you at home.

You call to register, and they will look at your medical file and let you know if you are eligible.

They said, today by phone, that it will usually take 1-2 weeks to learn if you are eligible, but since so many are already registering it will take longer right now.

  5. For info:

Srinagarind Hospital (Khon Kaen University) has started a new program today where some patients can have their meds delivered without having to go see a doctor.

There are a couple of qualification you need to be qualified.

Call the hospital to register.  It will take a week or two - maybe longer initially with so many people already registering- to get approval.

This info was posted on TV yesterday.

Thai Post requires a signature when it is delivered. They will not leave it without that.

They will try and call when the try to deliver it as well.

Just had a US passport delivered to me last week.

No problem with address in English.

I wasn't asked to sign for it, nor is my phone number on the envelope, so don't know how they could have called me.

I will guess that you are using Bangkok Bank, as I am aware of that they are working that way with deposits of social security.

as Ubonjoe said, you can now get a direct deposit to your local account at Bangkok Bank (or others).

Fill out the form and mail it to the SS office in Manila.

I did mine last May (middle of the month) and the money started being deposited 3 July.

I access my money with an ATM card.

To get benefits from a Social Security Office in a country, you must be a citizen or in some way be connected to that office by for example working long time in the country.

Health care with Social Security is for employees under the SS scheme.

Citizens who are not in the system won't be covered under this plan.

Foreigners under this plan will be covered.

Coverage starts after 3 months in the system, not after working a 'long time'.

You can continue to be covered for 432 baht a month after you quit working or otherwise lose employment as long as you had 12 months of paid coverage.
