  1. Not sure if I'm posting int he correct forum, but I searched and couldn't find anything about this.  I'm in search of a private investigator to help locate my sister-in-law.  She's disappeared and won't answer my wife or MIL's phone calls.  No one seems to be able to find her. Does anyone know a reliable (trustworthy) PI for the purpose of locating a Thai national within the borders of the kingdom?  Thanks in advance for any help you might be be able to provide.

  2. Marijuana and a Thai massage, then probably some fast food

Are you kidding?? Do you liked to be stoned with a hangover so you can fully experience the nausea, headache and terrible feeling?

Obviously I do like to be stoned with a hangover, or else I wouldn't have suggested it as a specific hangover cure

  3. I used voting records to prove my domicile when we got my wife's visa. Of course, you have to vote in most elections. Voting records can be had through your local clerks office and are free or cheap to get. Bank accounts work as well, but voting is much cheaper!

  4. I seem to recall an article about sex ed test they gave students here. Something like "You feel the urge to have sex. What should you do?" and the correct answer (multiple choice) was "Go play some basketball". Not kidding.

A major issue with education and mind set is that so many can not think more than 20 minutes into the future. They don't think "What will I do if I get pregnant?", etc. I taught at High School with teen clinic. In a basket by the door were lots of condoms, no questions asked and even encouraged. "Better to have and not need than need and not have".

That wasn't even sex education, that was the ONET exams that students must take in their final year of school to show competence for graduation. Even more shocking

  5. There are no good reasons to support either party. And you might change your mind about what rights you have in this country. Doesn't matter if you're married or not, rights are not something we have here

Geeez sounds like you are describing North Korea. Im sorry but I disagree! You do have certain rights in Thailand. I have a right to own a condo, I have a right to marry a beautiful Thai girl, I have a right to have a Thai drivers license and I have the right to the internet (mostly free) that grants me access to these forums. I also have a right to leave Thailand if I feel the government is unsafe. But to clarify, I wasn't referring to those rights. I was referring to the right to have a personal opinion. Everyone has that right.

Literally all those rights(except to leave, that IS a right) you have described are, in fact, privileges, not rights. And check up on the censorship laws in Thailand and you'll see what I'm talking about. But you're new here, I think you'll figure it out for yourself soon enough. You of course do have a right to have an opinion, but that's not much of an argument and I was never suggesting that you had no right to that

  6. I'm in a similar situation and after teaching 3 years at crap ESL jobs, I returned to the us to get a masters degree and a teaching license. I'm not exactly sure if it will work well, but I'm attending an international school job fair in the us to get hired. The salaries they advertise are 1 to 1.5 million baht per year, plus benefits and flights. That is a far cry from my previous earnings of 45000 a month working 6-7 days a week. Anyway, I go to the fair in a month so I will drop a line and let you know what happens. I'm alwAys curious to see what a colleague is doing . .

  7. When me and the missus went on our honeymoon someone tried break on through the roof of our townhouse. SIL was at home sleeping and woke up when she heard the burglar trying to smash the roof tiles. She flipped all the lights on and the guy fell off the roof and ran away. Next week our neighbor was walking with a hard limp from an injury he declined to talk about. When we move back we decided to get a place closer to Bangkok in a gated community with security guards.

  8. Just for the record Iam 27 years old and have no big pension nor do I have loads of money in the bank my thai friend knows this. So the suggestion from some that she is planning on marring etc is wrong Imo.

Correction, you are from a western country and therefore swimming in cash, whether you like it or not. I went to my wife's village before we got married and that is exactly what happened. If her family is good and interested in her happiness, then it will be fine. Just keep your wits about you and glean the information that every here has suggested you do. And this is you saying you want to get married. Boyfriends don't visit, future husbands di

  9. Yes. Last year the government paid people to purchase their first car. As a result you have hundreds of thousands of middle age Thais driving high powered sedans and pick ups with no driver training whatsoever and no previous experience. Thus the Thai government has developed a significant and lethal risk to road users in this country.

Actually, that was a scheme used in the US around 2007 or so. First time car buyers who bought a fuel efficient vehicle got a 5000 dollar tax credit
