  1. My partner, Nobelcat, and I recently stayed at Elegant Lanna in Chiang Mai city center for a week with our small well-behaved dog for about 550 baht a night. They were very friendly towards the dog. Great location, close to everything and quiet too! thumbsup.gif

They have a website, google: Boutique Guesthouse Elegant Lanna

  2. "A deal was struck; or so it appeared. Chick-fil-A would cease funding anti-LBGT groups among other concessions and in turn Alderman Moreno would cease opposing their expansion into Chicago.

Just as my taste buds were getting geared up for an all night chicken binge I learned that both I and Alderman Moreno had been duped. You see, it appears that just days after Chick-fil-A had agreed to stop funding bigoted groups, Dan Cathy on September 18th, tweeted a photo from a fund raiser for the anti-LBGT group Marriage and Family Foundation. The WinShape Foundation which Chick-fil-A operates was hosting a 200 mile couple’s motorcycle ride called “WinShape Ride for the Family” with an entry fee of $3,500 per couple with options to pledge $5,000, $10,000, or $15,000 to Marriage and Family Foundation. In order not to appear to be donating to the group, participants were asked to make checks payable to Marriage and Family Foundation and not the WinShape Foundation or Chick-fil-A. Sponsorship packages were reported to have displayed the Chick-fil-A logo as well as that of the WinShape Foundation."

  3. I just remembered A1 Vacations, Cyber Rentals, Great Rentals, Craigslist... There are a ton of sites like to find vacation rentals by owner.

And I should mention that Couchsurfing is completely different from the above in that you're sharing a space with your host and there's no charge. thumbsup.gif

  4. I was an Airbnb host for a year in San Diego, California. Trust me, it isn't just limited to homes and apartments. There are tree houses, castles, house boats, I rented a bed in a garden full of fire sculptures once, the choices are unlimited...

Airbnb, like VRBO, HomeAway, FlipKey, Wimdu, and others, allow you to find properties that offer a unique experience rather than a cookie-cutter hotel room. A good way to search for a property is to use a site like Hipmonk which compiles listings from multiple sites in one interface.

Couchsurfing is also a good option, especially if you like staying with and getting to know locals where you're visiting.
