A couple of brutal Boeing memes now doing the Social Media rounds. (Just ignore the appalling typos)

FAA is now, also investigating Boeing for apparent missed inspections on 787 Dreamliner.
“Boeing “voluntarily informed us in April" that the plane maker may not have completed required inspections to confirm that there was adequate bonding and grounding where the wings join the carbon fiber fuselage on certain 787 jets.”https://www.npr.org/2024/05/06/1249432229/faa-investigation-boeing-787-dreamliner
This may actually be a good thing.
The report was triggered by an employee's alert about a compliance breach. As long as the said employee's career prospects aren't now compromised....

I believe it makes a difference whether or not you call from a landline phone or from a mobile phone.
I did make this qualification: "maybe not the traditional landline phones."
This might however not apply to corded VoIP services that will work with the "+" symbol in lieu of the international access code. The older PSTN handsets don't have provision for that symbol, whilst newer VoIP handsets with a display screen may have them.

More censorship from the "liberals".
Is cyber security in the US so weak that they cannot deal with TikTok? I suspect that's just the excuse for pushing through ever more authoritarian policies.
Given the content of TikTok, I'm surprised Biden isn't a fan. I bet he's got it in some 'secret calculator' app on his phone 😃.
One thing to keep in mind....whilst Biden signed the bill, it was the Republican-dominated congress that got it there in the first place.

That will be the next target of authorities, like file sharing sites.
Censoring 'free speech', any different opinions is top priority, and has nothing to do with anything else. Can't believe people believe their reasons for doing things. As if CH doesn't have all the info they need about the USA.
Don't think they need TT to spy on you, or because they want to tell a company who to sell shares to. The silly reasons people believe is mind boggling.
Notice it's snuck in on a foreign aid bill, and not a stand alone bill. A clear sign that it wouldn't pass by itself.
IGNORANCE IS BLISS
Not at all. VPNs are a simple tools to collate all the data they need. Spy agencies them.

Thanks guys
I tried the number without the 66 and now it's working
Just waiting for them to open 😺
Thankyou all 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Remember you need to use the "+" symbol, then the country code (66 for Thailand, 61 for Australia) and then the area code (minus the "0") and finally local number. That should work on all mobiles, but maybe not the traditional landline phones.
Press "0" on your keypad and hold for about a second for the "+" symbol to appear.

Just go to the bar well prepared.
You should have at least something left over for the cops after paying the check-bin.

So he must live near me
If I see him again I'm going to go over to him and tell him the numbers do not work in Thailand!!
He's no longer the CEO.
In fact, I'm surprised that he allows himself to be seen in public and his dog hasn't run away from home.

No problem.
I am curious how you got on - and which call centre you got connected to. So do report back if you have a few minutes.
My own experience with QF hasn't been great, sometimes waiting over an hour in a queue before getting through. That said, the standard of service once getting through to a human was 10/10. The new CEO has promised improvements, but that remains to be seen.

Ok thanks
I'm not sure how Qantas expects people in Thailand to call them !
I need to change my flight dates
Thankyou for your help anyway
As mentioned, yesterday was a public holiday in Australia. They don't provide a 24/7 call service and I suspect all their global numbers will redirect to a call centre based in Australia (or at the least a call centre working to their time zones).
The lines open Monday - Friday at 8.30 am. Thailand would be 3 hours behind AEST - so 5.30am - try in about 15 minutes.

I have not been able to dial an Aussie "13" number from Thailand.
Your only possibility for those numbers is to use a VoIP service based in Australia.
-
Are you dialling 66 26326611 or +66 26326611
Yes, in Thailand you should be able to drop the "+66" - but you need to substitute that with a "0" i.e. 02 6326611
The "001..." might be a US number, but "toll free". Not sure how that would work if you are using a Thai carrier. The number that you have there is for their Frequent Flyer Line but you might also want to try +1 800 6114797 or failing that: 001 800 611 4797 That number was shown on their AU website.
Keep in mind their hours are shown as 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (except public holidays). Allow for time differences. Yesterday was Anzac day in Australia, so that might explain your issues.

They don't, my house is made of cement with additives......🤔
Without the cement, there would be no house....🤗
By "cement" most people actually mean concrete. Cement is one of the key components in concrete.
For the record, most modern high rise buildings structurally use steel & glass exteriors. Concrete may be often used in the compression members for the lower stories of multi-story buildings.

No one is forcing anyone to eat plant based meat-substitutes. But likewise no-one can deny that the vegan & vegetarian market is huge and continuing to grow. India alone has about 185 Million vegans.
FWIW - I love my meat too much to ever consider going full Vegetarian. But that's not to say that I can't enjoy a vegetarian meal and I find the new meat-substitutes have excellent taste & texture.
Until a few years ago they didn't compete - now there's almost nothing to differentiate the real & the faux product. Some people may not even pick the difference in a blind taste test.

If by "solid" you mean rugged, then I highly recommend you look beyond the top half-dozen brands.
Consider either the Doogee R-series or one of the Ulefone Armor Pad tablets. Mid-range pricing, but based on the specs excellent value for money.
I've had both brands as rugged-style mobiles so can't 100% vouch for the tablets - but it would be worthwhile checking out a few reviews. My recommendation is for the Ulefone. AFAIK Doogee still haven't sorted out their after-sales support.

May I ask where you got them?
I'm wondering if Lazada may sell similar
Pacsafe sell them directly in 3 sizes: 55 litres, 85 litres & 120 litres. I think I sourced mine on eBay since they aren't cheap new - but the quality is there. They've lasted years so far, albeit only modest use when there wasn't a safe available. Not sure about Lazada. They might have some cheaper knockoffs, but I'd be making sure it was stainless steel wire - for at least some basic cutting resistance.

Yes he should
ofhave asked first before renting it off Airbnb but he says you can't contact the owner first on this Airbnb .I highly doubt that he can't contact the owner prior to completing the booking. Airbnb just doesn't work like that. More likely that he doesn't know how to or forgot.
Anyway FWIW when travelling I use one of these portable stainless steel mesh & cable backpack-sized security bags together with a good quality padlock. They roll up into a small space (when not in use) and can be secured to almost anything. Nothing is going to stop a determined thief, but this will slow them down and probably avert a snatch & grab type situation.

Job opportunities for Filipino Caregiver in Thailand
in Job wanted in Thailand - Hire me!
Posted
This is not a specific job application, but I'm asking about general job opportunities for a mature aged (early 40s) Filipino national seeking employment as a CAREGIVER anywhere in Thailand. English skills are excellent (but no Thai), some experience in this field and about to complete a Cert 4 in the Philippines.
Ideal position would be in an expat-oriented retirement facility.
Is there a list of these potential employers and/or industry organisations that she may be able to approach with a CV?
