  1.

sorry but whistling at birds is for drop kicks, soccer/football is simply a sh*t sport same as muay thai and trying to play tennis with your feet was invented by a wank_er that didnt have any hand eye co ordination and could only kick things. If this is what makes you friends then they would make them all drop kicks as well. I like to base friendship on something more than stupid sports that require lots of drinking......... well these days anyway, where in the hell did I put my walking stick.....................

I'd rather not say, but you'll want to wash it, afterwards

  2. This happens frequently and not just in restaurants but also in 7-eleven. I always count the money before I leave and make sure I'm leaving with the correct amount and when I get too much it takes a bit to explain the situation. Once they catch on to the mistake they are very appreciative of my honesty.

I'm hoping my honesty will be repaid with an overabundance of good Karma at some point and time.. Maybe just wishful thinking on my part?

So it's just selfishness then? Or is the karma irrelevant?

  3. Eating out in Europe can be expensive.

Example: 2 people, restaurant in Italy, 1l house wine, 50€ - 2000 Baht.

    Compared to:

    2 people,

Italian restaurant, Sukhumvit, mediocre quality, 0.5l house wine, bad service, - 3500 Baht.

For a lot of our members who can't afford good restaurants too often, the extra cost of the restaurant is offset by the lower cost of a flight from the boondocks.
  4. So al you so called internet warriors making the big bucks from youre shoe box condos will have nothing to show for in the future when you get to my age except the clothes that are in youre lugage and on youre back.

What a stupid thing to say. <deleted> do you know about everyone else's spending or saving habits?? You sound just like Harry Enfield's Loadsamoney character. know guys making as much as £50-100,000 a month trading online from their "shoeboxes" on the top floors of BKK's finest condo buildings and hey, they ain't risking life and limb on a bloody oil rig in the middle of the <deleted>' ocean so wind your neck back in, ease off the throttle and gently apply the brakes. It's fine to be skeptical about those making money from the internet but don't make an idiot out of yourself by talking crap when you really don't have a clue
Hit a nerve did i buddy ,i think you don't have a <deleted> clue and are talkin out of youre arse .

    Hit a nerve?

    Don't be ridiculous.

I'm sitting here laughing because I just know that when you come to Thailand, you walk around waving your wad in the locals' faces sayin' "Oi, Oi. Look at 'at! Eh? Eh? Git sum. Look at my wad. I got loadsaaaaaaaah"

Well that makes me look a right arse, doesn't it?
  5. I retired at age 52. My motto was and remains: "you can always make more money but you can never make more time". Amazing how many people spend their lives chasing more more more money to the exclusion of doing the things that they "dream" about. I have learned to live a very pleasant life by learning to place more value on what I do rather than what I own.

I completely agree. Unfortunately for me, the things I like to do are quite often limited by what I own :-)

Luckily for me almost everything I like doing only requires a good pair of shoes.

    Are you a shoplifter?

  6. I suggest Naam that you think a little more about the range and scope of corrupt activities in Thailand rather than engaging in pettifogging quibbles over semantics....or inappropriate attempts at spelling correction.

We should forgive the digressions of others before we seek pardon for our own

  7. Great result, but I think that The Lions can play better than that still. The Oz team have been disappopinti9ng throughout, and the Lions not much better until today. No penetration in midfield, no attempt top get the ball wide, or offload in the tackle. BOD was lucky to get into the test team and was there as a make weight, and Tommy Bowe did not deserve to play the 3rd test after the performance in the second. Mike Phillips is past it, and Half penny is totally immense (please remind me who said he offered no attacak) All in all I loved it , but I knoiw we can play better, I'm not sure Oz can at the moment. Looking forward to the world cup. upwards and onwards for Wales and England in our group, mega rebuild for Oz.

Tremendous negativity. It's good to see someone with the Thaivisa mentality (allegedly - I don't see it, myself. I like the veneer of positivity that masks the criticism - the cruellest stabs are from your friends, Brute.

The Lions scrum won the game

  8. To be honest, I find the level of corruption in Thailand a little easier to live with than the level of corruption in Australia! At least here everybody knows it goes on and makes adjustments to allow for it. In Australia we have a rotten to the core Prime Minister who has been implicated in nefarious dealings throughout her adult life surrounded by a team of ex union leaders who are in it for everything they can get out of it.

The difference is that the people involved in daily corruption here are poorly paid police officers and the ones running the corruption in Australia are (very) overpaid politicians. Julia Gillard is better paid than Barack Obama for gods sake and still she taints everything she touches.

Give me the "honest" corruption here over the type found in Australia and a lot of other supposedly clean countries.

What a bunch of drivel. A former Prime Minister is unable to return to Thailand because of pretty serious allegations of corruption. Corruption exists at all levels of Thai society. The police are just the little foot soldiers.

Gillard lives in a country with a very strong justice system. If she has ever done anything wrong, it would have been prosecuted long ago. Her home state, Victoria, where the most pathetic allegations are sourced, is governed by the Liberal Party, the sworn enemy of both the ALP and the union movement. Do you really think that the Victorian Police, and the courts system, the Attorney General, and so on, are all standing around, with their hands in the pockets, while Gillard goes free? Not to mention that the Liberal Party was in power federally from 1996 until 2007, for most of those years Gillard was a Labor Party front-bencher.

If you do, I have a nice Harbour Bridge you might like to buy, slightly used, but very beautiful and with nice views.

Mate I don't care too much for politics but love your sales pitch on the Harbour Bridge. Any chance you could include the Opera House in the deal? smile.png

The bridge is knock-off from Newcastle. You;d be mad to take it

  9. Yeah sorry hard time explaining will repost later sorry guysSent from my GT-I9500 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Sadly, we can't change our names, or I would be. Maybe I will, one day.

  10. I lived very happily with only ฿25'000/mth/family here in Chiang Rai...

I live very happily with only ฿300,000/month here in Thonglor
    Only 300k Baht / Month.

Personally I wouldn't get out of bed for less than 400k / month.

    That's the spirit.

These threads so often turn into a pissing contest to see who can live on less, I just thought I'd open the bidding at 300K.

That covers rent at the Quattro, 200/20 ultra high speed internet, http://www.absolutefitfood.com/ for when I eat in, Iron Fairies or Maggie Choos for when I don't, cocktails at Grease in soi 49, a permanent VIP table at Bash on soi 11 for when I feel like slumming 'til 7am and 12 grams of 60% pure Peruvian flake each month.

I can't begin to imagine how anyone could survive on less

Try. The exercise will do you good.

  11. I could go on for ever, but u get my drift. Its so boring to here this and i am glad i have a positive outlook on my 10 year life in Pattaya

Wow, 10 years in Pattaya and still smiling. Amazing.

Perhaps there's something readily available there that you need. I for one could not do 10 days in Pattaya without losing all faith in humanity.

I pity your weakness of faith. Maybe you should spend some time in a temple to strengthen your faith. If you'tre not willing to do that, then why should anyone else treat your faith any more seriously than you do?

I pity people that think faith is a positive attribute.

I think you mistake pity for jealousy. It's an easy mistake to make.

  13. I would not recommend anyone in their 30's or 40's to be living a life where they are not putting money away every month.

Would hazard a guess and say greater than 70% of farangs living in Thailand dont follow this sensible advice, and one suspects most wouldnt even have the equivilant of 1 months expenses in the bank in reserve

To be fair, 70% of farangs in this country are not in their 30s and 40s (or 20s) and are off the back end of their earning curve.

And it is only the government and mandatory contributions that bring most farang into the West into line with this requirement.

There are more grasshoppers than ants.
