Is an app needed on the phone? I've seen no mention.

Did you not read the part about the CCTV footage? The US Embassy have viewed it too. Build tall hotels, expect jumpers.

An interesting juxtaposition of news articles today. There is this one and the piece about the International Bar Association’s (IBA) Human Rights Institute that "found that Cambodia’s judiciary is ridden with endemic corruption, bribery and political influence, and has recommended the IBA reconsider the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia’s membership in the international body".

There are plenty of very good laws here. Enforcement is the problem.

Cambodia has freedom of expression; everyone can do anything. I haven't laughed so much for ages.

Where do these figures come from? The VOA site doesn't say. There are several people cited in the article making comments about the figures. I would like to quote some of the figures but I'm reluctant without being able to attribute them to a source.

It wasn't me. Honest. It was him, him and her. Honest.

Is this a threat?

I'll be spreading this news to many of my overseas friends that still, genuinely, think they are helping by donating funds to orphanages. The downside is that there are some very good, and straight, orphanages operating. It's really difficult to tell them apart unless you live here and know some facts.

Well done CPU and the authorities. Let's only hope that the courts lock him up for a long, long time.

So if they increase a teacher's salary to $200 they will be earning just a little more than a rubbish cart driver! No sign of joined up thinking going on..

That picture alone would negate the possibility of a fair trial in any country in the world with a proper justice system.
What is it with the pictures of alleged offenders being paraded in front of the media, never seen anything quite like it in any other country.

There's a very old proverb that seems appropriate ‘There is none so blind as those who will not see. The most deluded people are those who choose to ignore what they already know’.

I remember this kind of "weapons amnesty" taking place in the UK in the late 1950's and early '60'. The people that didn't want the weapons handed them in. Sadly, the naughty ones, that wanted to carry on using them, didn't. You can't deny that getting them out of circulation is a good thing but they need to get tough on those that don't hand them in. Like the maximum penalty. They also need to make sure that everything collected is totally destroyed and not sold back into circulation. But I'm sure that nobody involved would do a thing like that.

"Most truck drivers live in remote areas, so they don't know much about the traffic law."
I’ve been here 2 years and I haven’t met anyone, including the traffic police, that know much about the traffic laws. They are actually quite extensive. They are simply not taught and enforced. As the article rightly points out, this is just a small part of the problem. I would bet money that none of the vehicles used for worker transport would pass any kind of road-worthiness test. The same problems apply to the minivan buses and most of the bigger coaches too. There is a road-worthiness testing service in place, I've put my car through it. The problem regarding adhering to laws and regulations are common - lack of enforcement.

I recall reading that DNA samples from the crime scene are in the hands of UK authorities. If so then the same authorities need to stand up and DEMAND that THEY COME TO THAILAND and take DNA samples from the accused. Anything less will leave the families with massive doubts about their tragic loss.

First I checked the calendar. No. It's not April 1st. That leaves insanity, alcohol abuse, crack and crystal meth. Take your pick.

"Bopha* and her classmates discussed ways to smuggle in a cheat sheet full of equations." - there's a really easy way to get the equations into the exam hall. REMEMBER THE DAMN THINGS!!

What's the panic about Cambodians going to Thailand to work? There are loads of Vietnamese in Cambodia doing the same. Wait a few years and the whole of ASEAN will be able to do cross borders and work without the authorities, and ex-pats, getting their nickers in a twist.

I've just seen well over 100 GRK/brown uniformed personnel go North up Riverside 7:20 Sun. Up to 10 fully manned pick ups with riot shields and dozens of motorbikes each with 2 personnel.

I wonder how many people have died in a traffic accident after having the vaccination? It's about as relevant as this specious report.
