The ban is only for western style stores, people will just buy it elsewhere
It will have zero effect on alcoholics, only the increased consumption from bulk buying days before
I'm sure the country folk will be drinkin' their Laos Khao... Home made Hooch.

There is no limit on the number of consecutive extensions of stay you can get.
I am on my 12th one and many people have more than that.
are you speaking of an O visa, tourist visa, Marriage
or retirement type of visa,

First, thank you very much for the info. If I can get by with a 40K monthly income that will be great. All I would have to do is bring a copy of my monthly pension statement. The reason why I was asking is because normally I get a retirement Visa and if they come out with compulsory health insurance, I will have to go with the marriage Visa as I don't want to pay tons of money for health insurance. I am from Canada, in good health, 73 years old, soon to be 74 and I have enough money in the bank back home to cover medical bills if the need arises and I don't want to tie up my money in a Thai Bank. I only go to Thailand for 5-6 months a year and I have an insurance that covers me for 40 days outside the country. I checked one place in Pattaya last winter and they didn't insure over 65 years old.
You can get a non-O visa, as I understand, and you'll get 90 days unlimited visa, just have to leave the country every 90 days, OR just get a 90 day tourist visa get a 30 day extension, then another 90 day visa and you're golden... no need to get any other visa...Max 7 months

Phuket immigration is the worst for making up their own rules and changing them every few days.
Other offices strictly go by the official rules that seldom change.
Thanks Ubonjoe... I'm a victim of that... changed drastically from a week ago, when I got the paperwork list, did it by detail, went today, changed completely for the Marriage Visa, monthly income from Foreign TT... give me a headache now.

Apply for a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage that allows unlimited 90 day entries for a year from the date of issue.
No financial proof is needed at many Thai embassies and consulates.
The consulates in Savannakhet Laos or Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam do not require it.
I like that Idea!

You need 40k monthly income.
If neither you wont get.
Seems EVERY CHANGWAT HAS their rules, TODAY... (June 14, 2019 Phuket)
1. You need 400,K Hard cold in the bank for 2 months prior to application for marriage extention, it cannot be LESS> monthly 40,000+ pensions won't work, today. Last week it was fine.
2. if you have a work permit, then you also need to show salary pay statements for prior 3 months to your application, showing a minimum of 50K a month income. Plus company papers from the business that you work for.
3. It will likely change again, maybe a few days or a few months, but it WILL change.
4. do you think it will be for the better? 555!

So to get an extension based upon marriage you need 400k in the bank? What happens if you don't?
then you can stay maximum 7 months per year, 90 day+extention 30 days plus 90 days... and then bye bye unless you fly in for 30 days 5 times....from outside country... anyone else know something different, please feel free to publish, I'm actually curious if that's also a possibility...???

Thanks Mansell for backing my story up, although the fine amount wasn't quite that much. but the story is not BS, it happened. I don't know if someone complained or business is real slow for cops in Phuket. So, the plan is to get a work permit after a little more investigation and also see if it just wasn't a set up by an annoyed competitor, there were some "farangs" working nearby that were new and possibly got harassed at some time or another and now they may have a hard on to have others harassed as well. I don't know, just looking at reasons, the interesting thing is that due to my polynesian and asian coloring, I usually can pass for Thai, I have paid 20 baht to enter most of the parks as long as i shut up and let my wife buy the tickets, I was quite surprised to see them "coming after me".
I appreciate the comments and information, and I know it sounds simple to just say, "don't work" I am happy to do nothing there, but when the boss (wife) says help, what do men normally do?, I may just go talk to the police in a few days and see if I can make friends and find out what really prompted this, and yeah, they shoot pictures first and ask questions later. It's difficult for me just to sit at home, or ride my motorcycle all the time, if the business does well enough, what does it matter?

need to see the police report? its in Thai.

The other day, I went to see my wife who is working on opening a business, while I was there, she asked me to lower the brackets for the curtains, as I was doing this, some police came in and asked me if I had a work permit since I was working, (wha...???) I did not, as I am retired with a Non-O marriage "visa", I have not been to her shop in over a month, I was there perhaps 30 minutes, and prior to my "incident" I had brought out a chair to be cleaned for her. In other words, when ones wife asks or tells you to do something, simply DO IT. Goes without saying right? Anyway, I was fined for "working without a work permit" ... so, now, do I get a work permit to visit my wife at work, stay away or get a work permit through the business, if so, as a "What?" Consultant, guard, I don't think getting fined each time I go there makes sense, and to "try to stop" the "Honeydo" thing is not likely to happen and by my very nature, if something is broken, I just fix it... Thank you for any input or experience
you might have for me...

New Price on PCX is 82-84,000 baht depends on who you talk to, colors are met red, matte white, matte solver and gloss black, new PCX has different grab bar so you will need the new attachment from Honda to get it to mount. I think it's a nice bike, but they are over-pricing it... Better bikes out there for a few thousand baht less...
