  1. First point, supplies are not allowed, anything given for a prisoner is thrown away ( or split between staff).

Ony money can be passed for prisoners, it is recorded in a book, then the prisoner can use it to buy goods from the prison shop.

Funny, I have been to Maha Sarakham prison on numerous occasions, with a friend who was visiting his then girlfriend.

Every time, every visitor had food supplies for the person they were visiting. It was searched before being passed on, but every single time it reached the inmate.

  2. The rules are no secret; foreigners are not allowed on Thai military facilities.

    Welcome to Thailand.

Wow that's strange becaise 2 years ago I worked on a Thai Army base in Bang su for 3 years. Guys if you don't know what the true information is, please refrain from posting. For the life of me, I don't understand why foreigners in Thailand have the need to argue about Thailand on a forum. Most of the members of Thai Visa live in Thailand so if you don't like the way it is, there are plenty of other countries to go. Just sayin!

In 1993 I was refused for 'security reasons', why would I lie about it ? Just sayin!

  3. Some jails in Thailand have a very good education system inside.

I disagree with your comment about the education system failing her, maybe if she had put more effort in, she might have achieved more.

Did she take advantage of any education system inside whilst incarcerated ?

  4. Well i went to court with a lawyer to see the prosecuter and say am i guilty or not guilty.I said not guilty my lawyer explained to the prosecuter the case.

The prosecuter said he has so many seriouses cases to take care of and doesnt have time for "funny cases" like this.Prosecuter told my lawyer to contact my ex misses to come to some sense. If she wants to proceed with case the next hearing will be jn july were she will have to attend. So basically thats all my news prosecuter seemed pissed off with my ex.

I would imagine that your lawyer will contact her lawyer to explain what happened, and her lawyer will advise her accordingly. In view of the prosecutor's attitude towards the case, his best advice would be to forget it. However, he may advise her to continue, therefore, making more money out of the case, but whatever they choose to do, I see nothing but a positive outcome for you.

  5. A few years ago Iwas in a shop I frequent often paid for my food with a 20 she gave me change for a 10. I explained to her the problem she insisted I gave hera 10 but no I only had a 20 and I come in here a lot and would not want to cheat the owner please give mecorrect change, she did. She didn't last long only one week. this happened in the states at the time myfavorite coffee shop. Cheats happen every where. I do not expect to get cheated and it doesn't happen too often.

I have had to stop my habit of giving a combination of notes and coin to assist the shop-keeper, say my meal was 85baht, and I would give a 100 baht note and a 5 baht coin, expecting a 20 baht note in return, but the looks I get are out of this world. It appears to be outside the wit of the average Thai to accept this method of payment. I have stood over cashiers and added up in my head the list of 9 items we ate, have said out loud in Thai the total sum, and the cashier is still inputting data.

Why not just give them 85 baht? That's what I try to do. Makes life easier for everyone.

So you think it's acceptable to rip someone off, regardless of the amount?

No, Nancy's point is, if you give 85 baht, you are in no danger of being ripped off, as there is no change to be tendered.

  6. I have just asked the daughter in law for documentation of the sale .. Silly me, should of asked earlier..

Hopefully if it is sold at least I will know for sure .. I don't think she can make up false documents? As I would not have any idea what they look like ..

You have obviously done an english language course since your original post. Amazing.

    Or sobered up !

  7. I've been retired since I was 50 but I wont receive any pension until I'm 68 (if I'm lucky).

I always put "retired" on forms (when I dont put "Jedi Knight").

As to what my legal status is: I neither know nor care. I am what I am. Those who dont like it can @%$! themselves.

uk taxman might beg to differ though.............u must be 51 i get mine at 67...............for now, until they move the posts again to 70

I am 56 next month, mine is 'scheduled' for 66 and 3 months.

  8. Yes 150 bail shook me also. The 200 k quoted from one lawyer is not a fee i am willing to pay.

Immigration called me and said in the system i am flagged. So if i try leave i will be stopled so have to get persmission from the court.I have now decided that i will ask the court for permission after my first court appaearance end of the month. Then maybe i can spend more time with my dad 2-3 weeks instead of the 10 days i was planning now.Thank you for all the advice.I will keep everyone updated.

Get a new lawyer and tell the lawyer here is 100k for you and the other 100k for the judge to drop the case. Thats how things work here in Thailand.

Where was the case filed. PM if you dont want to share the location openly.

Bribe the judge ? Ain't going to happen.

  9. What is the legal definition of theft used here in Thailand? I think elsewhere it might be "intentionally permanently depriving somebody of his property"

Don't see how that could be proofed here.

    Thai law is very complicated.

Only people who have studied it, like lawyers, would have any understanding of it.

  10. So, if I decide to wear a dress for an evening out, I am within my rights to use the ladies ?

If putting on a dress so you can use the ladies room is your thing, go for it. But seriously, your example is the typical red herring. If some pervert wanted to molest little girls, I doubt he would choose a public restroom.

Disagree with the red herring bit.

dotpoom specifically said, if you dress and look like a lady, you use the ladies (in his/her opinion).

In my opinion, if you have a cock, you use the gents.

  11. To me it's a no-brainer....for the sake of the kiddies, if you look and dress like a lady you use the ladies (whether you have a penis or not) and visa versa.

How fearful and confusing it would be for a child to see a person of the opposite sex (in appearance anyway) coming into their toilet while they are in it.

    Fearful and confusing ?

Do young girls in the villages not feel the same, when they see their older brothers wearing dresses, and playing with dolls ?

  12. To me it's a no-brainer....for the sake of the kiddies, if you look and dress like a lady you use the ladies (whether you have a penis or not) and visa versa.

So, if I decide to wear a dress for an evening out, I am within my rights to use the ladies ?

And before you state that I do not 'look like' a lady, have you seen the majority of ladyboys ?

  13. there is something not right about this !! 150k for bail for stealing your own dog ????? 200k for a lawyer ????

Yes, as with most things, there are two sides to every story.

Alan's account of what happened will be completely different than the one used for a prosecution.

It would be easy to fabricate his story, make it sound a bit more dramatic, and throw in a few white lies, which is what his ex has probably done.

When a judge hears both accounts, the prosecution and the defence, if there are no witnesses, Thai versus falang will not do him any favours.

  14. I thought it would of been a rather simple case of as a transgender you use whatever bathroom matches the sex you identify with and look like, life goes on and no one cares

So the ladyboys who look nothing like a bird, and there are plenty of them, use a different facility to the others ?

It doesn't matter what sex they identify with, if you are born male, with necessary tackle, you are a man. If you get it cut off, it doesn't make you a female, rather, just a man after an operation.

  15. The important word mate is i "stole" i stole the dog with the use of a vehicle.Apparently if i "stole"the dog while just on foot my baio would of only been 50 thousand baht but because i used a bike to steal it was 150.She forgot to put in the report that i was with her fpr 10 years and i bought all the dogs. She has it on camera i drove past the bouse to see if they ok.One of them was jumping up try to play with me.He always like to try to escape i noticed thr gate wasnt locked so i was worried about them him especially because if he got out he would run everywhere the othwr dogs would stay.Anyway she now has the dog back but case still going to court They didnt want any money i asked them to please drop the case but no luck.I took the dog in the afternoon.Apparently bail would if been higher if i took the dog"under the cover of darkness"

The bail should not be a problem, as it is in the system, it will not just 'disappear', as some here would think.

However, you are spending a lot of money for the lawyer to defend the case.

Has your lawyer explained the best case, and, worst case scenarios ?

Although This is Thailand, I really cannot see the judge giving more than a nominal fine, if found guilty.

Is the actual prosecutor your ex girlfriend or the police ? If it is the latter, it adds a whole new dimension to the case.
