  1. Why is one of the Thai guys wearing goggles and a snorkel? If the body was discovered face down in the pool did he either (a) happen to be already wearing them (at 6am) or ( b ) rush to put the on before jumping the pool to save someone or ( c ) ask the camera person to wait a minute while he put them on then stage himself next to a dead body. Tell me please that the answer was (a) not ( c )

  2. I renewed mine a year or so ago, the day I submitted it was the day that they grounded all QANTAS flights, I couldn't afford any delays as I was flying out 14 days after lodging it, they cut the front cover in half and stamped it as invalid, so I was without a passport until the new one arrived. The new one showed up in my letter box in Pattaya 7 days later.

I also applied for an Aussie passport for my daughter late last year, that arrived in my letterbox in 6 days.

How frustrating. I think this has changed. Either they now let you keep the old one while the new one is being processed or this varies depending on the officer you talk to. I went to renew my in BKK in October. I needed to travel so they let me keep the old one while the new one was being processed. Then when I returned to the embassy after my trip i handed over the old one for the "chop" and they handed me the new one.

  3. Hi all. First time post from newly arrived Australian.

I need to have a serious procedure undertaken in my left ear. I need exostosis removed. Fancy name for bone growths. The procedure is serious as I will need to be put under a general and it involves surgical removal of bone from my ear canal.

This is a common procedure in Australia, so Australian ENTs are well practiced at it. The recovery period is 4 weeks of no flying so I have to do the procedure in Bangkok.

Can anyone recommend a top ENT surgeon in Bangkok, preferably one who does this procedure regularly.

    Thanks

    Tim
