  1. Which immigration office will you be using ?

There are slight differences between various offices in regard to specific requirement.

Generally speaking you will be asked to provide the same paperwork as was used to obtain the first extension.

Most offices will accept applications 30 days in advance and a few 45 days in advance. The new extension will be dated as from the expiry date of the current extension.

    Sorry, Bangkok-centric of me 8^(

    Chaengwattana.

    Cheers,

    K.

  2. I changed last year from ED to retirement and now it's time to renew the retirement extension. Have my letter from the UK Consulate on adequate regular income & TM7. Has anything changed since last year? Any surprises in the system?

Do I have to provide photocopies of blank passport pages & signed?

How many days in advance of the previous extension expiring should I go apply for the next?

Will the next extension start on the day I apply or from the day the old one expires?

I'll be doing my 90-day Report at the same time. Any strategies for minimizing wait time? I'm usually early in the queue, so visa first then report or vice versa?

    Cheers,

    K.

  3. Whether double pricing for tourists is fair, reasonable or justifieable, it is dishonest to hide them behind Thai numerals.

There is now a FREE Android App to help tourists see how much more they are being charged at attractions like Siam Ocean World and Madame Tussades and then make informed decisions on whether the difference is fair or reasonable.

    Search GooglePlay for "ThaiPrice"

  4. Thanks Lopburi, so I can get at least seven day extension no matter what.

Therefore, On Tuesday I go to CW with or without docs and, if the latter, get a 7 day extension and hope for the best in the coming week...

This would have the advantage of bringing me back into synch with my 90 reporting which are now 19 days apart. I assume (?!) if I report, say, 10 days early my next report will be 90 days from that day and not 90 days from the last due day?

Many thanks, Lopburi, not just for this but for all your efforts on this board.

  5. I have had four extensions in the first fourteen months of my ED visa and attended the Ministry of Education for the mandatory interview a few weeks ago. My last permission to stay expires on Tuesday 2nd October - obtained at Chaengwattana - and the school say they have not received the okay from the Ministry of Education yet. They are due to go to the Ministry and check on Tuesday when they may or may not find they can issue me with documents for the next extension.

A member of staff suggested I either drift into overstay and hope the docs turn up from the Ministry before things get too expensive in terms of overstay fines or I take a quick trip to Laos (or my preference would be short break to KL or Singapore and get 30days on return). I'm not sure what the repercussions of a visa run would be for the ED visa which was stamped as used on entry a year or so ago and validity expired in July.

I also wonder if it's possible to go to CW and get a 7 day extension (1900THB) as one can with tourist entries/visas?

I have 100% attendance at school (4hrs/week) and feel I did pretty well at the MoE interview BTW.

Any suggestions on how to proceed in the event documents don't materialize will be greatly appreciated.
