  1. Not sure about the radio 4!

If your in Thailand for the GF then bring here over for the complete package, on second thoughts don't!

    Keep the idyllic life idyllic.

I concur the U.K is the best place in the world right now and it's set to continue for the considerable future.

Thailand is o.k for holidays or winter retirement months, but all year round?

    CCC

UK the best place in the world...lol...

  2. "my wife found a place that sells the gasless wire as well in c/mai...."

    Congratulations!

And where is this place now?

drive past nana screw and take the left [dont go down the moat] keep going and turn left at the first set of lights..go down about 200 mtrs and its on your left...massive machinery shop called Arkarnsin ph 053252525.................one of the guys behind the counter could speak english as well....they only had one .4kg roll but are ordering more in ...quite pricey at 900bht a roll..all good

  3. What your actually looking for is "Flux-cored arc welding wire" FCAW for gas free wire welding.

Are you welding in windy conditions? If not your better off to use gas and regular MIG wire.If your setup will allow it.

yeah my setup can use gas but i dont like the hassle of the bottles and like to be mobile.. i also do alot of work outside in the breeze ...... working up on 2 mtr steel scaff , im only using my mig on 1.2 mm or less ...otherwise the arc welder comes out....my wife found a place that sells the gasless wire as well in c/mai....all good...cheers

    SP

  4. Have you tried Global House or the shops at the junction / crossroad at the Super Highway Mae Rim

yes have tried them they stock standard mig wire that requires co2...will try Nana Screw tomorrow...next will be looking at BKK outlets..lincoln, cigweld etc

  5. “Before I came here, I had 25 million baht for investment in Thailand. With no knowledge of the Thai language, I was at a disadvantage," said Mr Harpel",

Silly man, not much more can be said except I hope he finds a way out.

How he was able to acquire 25M THB we can only wonder with mouths agape. It must have been an inheritance or some such.

Some people know how to make money. Others help those people make money. People fit into one of those categories.

    >Thais play the game a lot harder than we do or we can even imagine.

Thais look for easy targets. Guys who don't protect themselves are dropping their drawers and asking for a good ramming, and they usually get it.

My rule has always been, don't invest more in Thailand than you're willing to lose. Be it from a woman or if the idiots in charge change the laws on you. And never, ever invest 100% of what you have, especially in a cheating crap hole like this.

i couldnt have said that any better....spot on

  6. Welcome to the club dude, my ex took much more than that and my 3 kids, tried to have me killed 3 times, had me arrested on false charges twice.... this is thailand, a Thai lie is much whiter than any farang truth..

Here in Thailand they practise a thing called a "USUFRUCT"...anyone in Thailand buying land and house should look it up...you have a seperate book with your name in it allowing you to live in that house for life, no one can go and get a loan on the property without your approval, no one can sell the property with out your approval, cheap to get , no lawyers needed.......works for me...my wife was glad to do it and did all the paperwork to make it happen.......if your wife/g/friend turns their nose up at it ...loose them

  7. Sin Sod is to be negotiated on, instead you apparently felt the need to insult her mother with an offer of 20 baht. No wonder your relation broke up.

You could have explained that in your culture sin sod is not done and you are not comfortable with it and start from there.

Bearing in mind ...alot of Thais havent got a sense of humour too

  8. Surely the oiffer of 20 baht was a joke which got passed on or taken literally, i suspect.

Personally I have never paid a penny, explianed that I was against it and we discussed it, eventually 40k baht was used, 1 baht gold given to wife which she kept, money returned immediately after the ceremony. Family save face, everyone happy.

Run a mile. If your financial status is all that's important, the rest of the relationship will be a failure.

Spot on Neeranam......the best way to find out if your missus true to you (money wise).... is let the cash flow slowly dry up for 6 months or so and see if she hangs around..worked for my mates

  10. Hey Guys, we ended up taking the mini-van to vienteine, booked the ticket through Chinda house, 1600 baht return, the trip to Nongkhai was great, the driver stopped a couple of times at the 7-11 and was about an 11 hour trip to NongKhai, we switched buses 2 or 3 times before getting a tuk-tuk to the consulate, arrived there about 9.00am, it was empty, filled out the form, handed it in and then found out that they would be closed until Tuesday (Buddha day)

My ticket, I could not change the date but the missus called chinda house, spoke with the woman and agreed to pick us up on Tues evening at no extra cost, I thought to my self "this is a great little company, nice bus ride including transfer over the border, they'll even change my departure date"

Then came the ride back to CM, everything was going smooth until we got picked up by the mini-van in NongKhai, The driver was doing 120km along the mountain roads and taking bends on like schumacher, I swear that van was being pushed to its limit, thank god the roads were dry, at one stage we ran over something, possibly a traffic cone, everyone was tense, my friend actually shouted "hey hey" at the driver, I was pissed myself and said to him in Thai "slow down, we have time" and my friend wants to use the bathroom at the 7-11"

We had been about 5-6 hours in the van and had passed maybe 10 seven-elevens but for some reason this guy decides to pull up outside an outhouse, there was a 7/11 a km back on the other side of the road but I guess it was too much trouble to pull in there.

The icing on the cake was from Lamphun into town he drove at 50km an hour, the whole highway we just crawled along at 50km, (I was looking at the speedometer) it must have taken us 2 hours just to get home from lampang alone, I thought it odd so turned to my friend and asked what he thought? He looked at me and said "because he's an a__hole"

When we got into CM and parked the spanish guy sitting in front of us, grabbed his bag, shouted some obscenities at the driver and we all went on our separate ways.

Next time I'll catch a plane...

    Regards.

Or maybe it was the meth he smoked up before the trip ...wouldnt suprise me..intheclub.gif

  11. At Ban Nai Fan II near the Night Safari they seem to have a dog policy. People have dogs there but they are not allowed to roam free on the streets. The few times I've been there it was always pretty quiet. You may want to check it out.

Land and House Sansai on the 1001...mainly educated older people obviously with common sense ...no dog problems here...the owners actually walk there dogs on a leash and keep them in their enclosed property hense no roaming muts causing problems. My friend had a big problem in a moo barn once ..you feel like bashing the owners for letting there muts run wild / unnecessary barking/biting kids/pissing /shitting in everyones back yard but theirs.. etc...but the end result was kull the dogs...unfortunate for the dogs as its the owners fault...it is what it is
  12. Thailand should be ashamed of themselves!

"We took them food and water before pushing them towards a third country," said the official, who did not want to be named.

    "them" should probably be "their"

I have never found a 'third' country between Thailand and Burma.... So, in reality, it should read:

"We took them their food and water before pushing them towards a third country their deaths," said the official, who did not want to be named.

Thailand must be so proud now sick.gif

Maybe they should have escorted them to Australia......they are taking refugees by the thousands and forgetting thier own...another England in the making....hit-the-fan.gif

  14. Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

People who have not got a clue reply about HD bikes. Never owned one, never rode one. Why do you need a HD trained mechanic ? Each brand is different, and has its own quirks. Would you want a Honda mechanic to work on your Ferrari ! Get a grip. As to HD not being reliable - bouught my Dyna in 2005. Sold it in 2013. Besides tires it needed one inner primary seal. All you posters should remember the old adage - It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

You are right on it seedy ...i work on my phantom/honda wave.... but my 2009 Harley forget it...can be costly when you f__k up ..People seem to forget Harley..Triumph and several other brands have come a long way since the 80"s.........AG"s skilled brain/ hands come near my HD as he does EVERYTHING HIMSELF..and with perfect English its all easy.....AWESOME.....easy place to get to as well...plenty of room..not stuck in the middle of the busy town.. fighting traffic in the heat smile.png
  15. to clarify. He opened a harley davidson repair and mechanic shop

i have used AJ on a number of occasions to work on my Harley..he is on to it big time .. its a pleasure to watch someone that actually knows what hes doing, not like some other outfits who fumble there way through and are more or less practising working on your expensive baby...at a guess i think he would be the most highly qualified HD Mechanic here in CM and certainly hope he stays around...hes got my business for sure and many more to come i would imagine.

I don't get it. What's so special about a HD that it needs a highly qualified mechanic, to do normal maintenance? You know, changing oil, check tire pressure, check the chain etc. Or are the quality of the engines so balow, that one have tear the engine apart every now and then? blink.png

with a post full of great questions and answers about HD repairs/maintenance/mods... i can see why "YOU DONT GET IT". drunk.gif
