Hi everyone, I'm Derek.

Once I've sold my shop (just found a buyer) me and my Pakpoom will be moving to thoeng. He is from there but moved to the UK 7 years ago to study which is when I got my claws into him LOL

But he misses his family and I'm almost 50 and hate paying for spray-tan so we've decided to up sticks and relocate. Never been to thoeng and I actually thought it was spelled tongue which didn't go down too well with some of folk that live nearby LOL

So hopefully we'll be arriving early 2013, very excited and a bit scared but this lovely forum is already helping somewhat, there is some very friendly (and handsome) people on here LMFAO

I love chocolate, anywhere in Thailand that sells chocolate body paint or will I need to bring my own?

Me and my Pakpoom will be moving from the UK to thoeng in a few months, main reason is his family have some land there that I can build a house on but never been. Just saw some very nice pictures though and reading through some of the threads I think it will be super. The handsome chap villagefarang on top of me (oooh cheeky) has already made me feel welcome, can't wait to meet some of you guys, and girls of course LOL

Sounds like the wild west, can't wait to meet all those cowboys LMFAO

You must have internet to post here so why not load up Thai airways and book yourself, probably the quickest way.

Don't be tempted to build on family land in a small rural village, that rarely works out well, but a little place in/near CR itself would be most excellent.

That's nice to know and quite surprising, people always told me it is bumpkinville in the north, can't wait to find out! I'm getting on a bit now so the peace and quiet will me most welcome...with the occasional trip to town of course LOL

..and from the Thai script (เทิง), sounds nothing like Tongue, OP.. lol!..How did you come up with "Tongue"?! Or, is it how your partner is pronouncing it??

Apologies, my Thai is shocking, he says it differently to tongue but that is what it sounds like to me!

Does anyone know where tongue is? My partner said his family have land in tongue in north thailand where we can build a house but I can't find it anywhere on any maps.
