Thanks for the feedback. You're right. I lied to myself. I kidded myself that a relationship with a barmaid could work.

I was at a low ebb in my life when I came here. But I'll bet you that loads of other farang are the same.

I guess my broader point is that some of these barmaids and waitresses can be very controlling. And very nasty. And dishonest.

When I finally split from my ex, she was really horrible.

Man, you hear about these horror stories, but living through them is whole different ball game.

But that's all in the past now.

I'll talk about how to find a great girl here in Thailand.

First, I'm probably the same as all of you. I came to Thailand and met a barmaid. She was different. She was cool. Sex was a major wow!

You all know what happened next. She was a compulsive and/or pathological liar. She was rotten. But I never really saw it. Over the years, I grew so accustomed to her deceitfulness and controlling behavior that I just accepted it as normal. I became a down-trodden wimp. And then she cheated.

When we split up, I was determined not to beome bitter or resentful. I spent months analyzing every aspect of our releationship. Eventually I realised that I was just as much to blame as she was.

I changed my outlook and my attitude. I changed my life. I hardened up.

To get a great girl, work on the principle that generalizations are good. Generalizations work. They work in your favor. They save you time.

This is what I did:

1. Avoid hookers. Sure, there are some great hookers out there. And some have hearts of gold. But most are rotten. Avoid them.

2. Avoid girls from Pattaya. Again, it's a massive generalization to say that all girls in Pattaya are bad, but generalizing in this manner will save you time and money.

3. Avoid all Thai women who have farang exes. This is a MUST.

4. Avoid all women who work in low-ranking, tourism-related jobs in places such as Samui, Chiang Mai or Phuket. Avoid hotel receptionists, barmaids and waitresses.

5. Avoid any women with debts and/or a low income.

I followed all the above "rules", and after about nine months I met the girl I'm with now. Things are good. Life is great.

A few years ago in Thailand people of Chinese descent were ridiculed and discriminated against on a daily basis. It was illegal for Chinese to own certain businesses and to educate their children at Chinese schools.

To counteract this Chinese discrimination and to add years to their old lives a group of wealthy Chinese gangsters formed the Yaowarat joking society.

Every time a gullible Farang is conned into believing the Chinese Thai superiority myth the bleached skin Japanese loving Chinese Thai woman is given 2 baht.

2 baht may not sound like much but many many Farangs have been tutored in this myth and the earnings are substantial. A select group of primarily Americans of Scottish descent discovered the existence of the Yaowarat joking society years ago and has been spreading the truth ever since but they are hunted down and killed whenever possible by the Japanese loving Chinese Thai woman.

As a result most communication between members of the group is secret and begun by the enclosed hand signal.

Whenever you are in Bangkok and wonder if a man wearing a kilt is part of the group just give him the hand signal for recognition.

Well the bigger problem is the age difference. The woman in her forties dating a man 65 is bound to turn into trouble. Mostly because an Asian woman in her forties looks like she is 65. The man then decides hay there are 20 year old bar girls that will date me for a year or two, I think I will up grade. The 40 year old is pissed, she looses face with her friends and she lost her meal ticket.

So one night the 65 year old man doesn't come home promptly. The 40 ish Thai woman is pacing the floor getting angrier and angrier, next she grabs a knife hops on the motorcycle the farang bought and goes looking for him at his favorite bar, or maybe every bar. She finds him drinking with a friendly and very affectionate 20 year old Thai and the old one makes a scene. The farang pays his bill and leaves the bar with the old Thai broad chasing him and yelling at him. When they get far enough down the road the man stops and says, "listen you worn out old has been, we are not married and I'm getting a younger girl.". The old Thai lady looses it and stabs him.

So just be prepared in advance knowing your character and the character of Thai women. I don't care if she is a bar girl or a regular girl, a Thai woman is going to react way differently than a Western woman. If you're prone to partaking of the available young flesh don't give any Thai woman the impression she is your woman and you are her man.

No, it's definitely envy. I saw it yesterday on another thread on this sub-forum. The average westerner here marries a barmaid or waitress or shop assistant or "massage girl". These men are very jealous of other foreigners who've done better for themselves.

Having never been to Thailand before, I had no intention of staying but the cost of living in Bangkok - even a Western lifestyle - was (and remains) considerably cheaper than my corner of West London and the local food was cheap and plentiful, I decided to hang on for a bit.

The women - well, the majority of those available to foreigners - were not part of the decision to stay.

I've had no shortage of female attention or company in any country.

Beware of girls who work in tourist areas or girls who have a history of farang exes. A lot of these girls are nasty little hookers in disguise.

I'm not wearing this age defence thing.....there have been plenty of cases of elderly paedophiles preying on youngsters in SE Asia over the years, and from memory there was a case of the 79 year old ex-RAF man caught in the act with a boy in Pattaya a few months ago, setting aside the recent story of the 65 year old caught in the toilet cubicle.

Speaking from a medical background, huge difference between the physicial cabilities of a 93 year old as compared to a 79 or 65 year old man.

My wife was a buddhist nun but upon seeing me in my tight lederhosen while mongering on Buddha Hill in Pattaya she immediately converted and threw herself in my arms.
