  1. I didnt mean to say that Fairproperty were scammers,in fact dont think i did.

What im saying is the r many stories of Villa andCondo owners using any 1 of the many agents

who ask them to rent for say 15000B a mnth. then see their property advertised at say 18000b r more.when they inquire with the agent about this, they get a reply,"it give us bartering space".

So to sum up....FP r among the best agents in Patters, but as with most things in LOS bartering is

    a MUST.

  2. Hiya

I've been to Pattaya a number of times now and I'm happy to stay in non-luxury hotels coz I only sleep in the place.

I'm back in April for Songkran with a few mates who have never been before and we're thinking about maybe getting a villa. Can anyone recommend some that we can check out over the net?

We're looking for somewhere with 4 bedrooms, within easy travel distance to central Pattaya, safe etc... if you know roughly how we should expect to pay for a week that would be great.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Taz...

Forget it,stick to ur budget hotels.

  3. No the rooms not for me, just trying to figure out how a thai can afford to pay 2k-3k a month for accommodation if there wage is under 5k a month, obviously they have no choice but to share. Seems harsh having to share your room for long periods of time, i say this because i like my space and id hate to think what happens if they want to bring a bf home for some intimate moments with a room full of girls.

Then again ive heard Thai's hate living alone and one of the posters above claims hes lived like this for 7 years and is happy enough, im sure there would be plenty of stories to share and laughs. Interesting though.....

You have to take into account that the vast amount of BG come from very poor families and are more than used to sharing very small living areas.

I would have thought 2 to 3 k a month is probably in the tight ball park.

  4. http://www.jsat.tv/

    The best option really!

    Check the web site.

No more monthly fees & affordable I think!

    200+ channels and great service

    hi MP5,

just checked out jsat site,i am still a little confused. It seems to me that you get free only the tv programmes that are already free on a satalite to dish basis.

However if you want certain sports and movies ect. you have to subscribe to the current provider ie if you want to view the programmes that UBC provide, then you have to pay them for a card.

Could be wrong on this but its my interpretation. :o

    http://www.jsat.tv/networks_list.htm

Read at the bottom of this page, tell me what you think. :D

  5. Electric Blue - my new favourite.

Peppermint - probably still the best gogo in pattaya.

Indian by Nature, The BEST indian.

Mata Hari - great quality food.

    ??? :o  i need to get out more :D

    hi dave,

indian by nature, where is it.my fave indian is little india:thumbsup:,in the arcade next to soi diana.or for a simple takeaway neroys, opposite crazy daves.

  6. Anybody can give me some suggestions about any 4-5 star hotels in Pattaya that offer daily use or weekly/monthly memberships??? Looking for places that offer use of pool and worlout facilities......maybe even steam/jacuzzi, etc. Appreciate the help.

I believe Hard Rock used to offer something, but not sure if it still does.

You could join Tony's Gym on third road.i think you can pay just a daily rate also.

  7. Thanks - it does look  like an older modell, maybe from the 60s. And it is mechanical, of course and wasn't bad looking. Because of it's obvious age, I thought it was a genuine one, but it lacks a serial number. Oh well, I'll get it "repaired" under warranty. BTW, the shop also carries some neat croco bands for around THB 300. Unlike some Russian made leather bands which fell apart within 5 weeks, I'm delighted with the Thai made croco bands - and those are genuine. *Caveat Emptor* means buyer beware - the old Romans knew human nature well :-)

What you need to do buying watches in pattaya is wear one on each limb:

    1st will have no winder

2nd will be full of water from first venture in pool/sea

3rd will now be in your pocket because the strap has fell off.

4th will be 3.30 and 30 seconds as the hands are all stuck.

Now you must sit at Poppy bar on beach road with a bottle of Chang and when the sun goes down it is 6.30pm-BINGO-right time!

    Easy peasy-martin. :D

    you gotta laugh.....wonderful sumation :o

  8. hi I will be in Thailand quite allot in the future

and am thinking of opening an account in the uk where its free to withdraw money in Thailand from ATMs .as i no i was paying about £3 every time i use the ATM

dont sound much but if you go every otherday its a few beers

.can anyone tell me which banks do this

    cheers

Nationwide certainly and LloydsTSB I believe, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on the latter guys.

    T.

slightly different but similar question. :o

are there any UK banks affiliated to any thai banks.i will be in LOS next thurs.on this trip i will be using mainly travelers cheques, but would like more options for the future.

thnx guys for the info already gleened from these pages :D

  9. my friend is intending to get a 1 yr multi entry visa next week.from liverpool uk.

he is under the impression that he can do a quick visa run from pattaya to cambodia and get a 90 day stamp. :o

i thought 90 day stamps can only be obtained from a thai consulate, which would probably involve a flight out for a couple of days.

can anyone give an answer and who is correct.

thanx guys an gals great site :D

  10. i have a friend who has recently moved to live in BKK,there is a story back here in the UK that he has bought a new 2.8 ltr toyota 4 W/D.

what surprises me is that the cost was app. 600,000 Bht.

is this really the correct price? as it seems very cheap. :o

600.000 bahts would be the bottom fo the range. The top range 3.0 double cab would go around 900.000 which is pretty cheap by western standard. ALso those models are not available.

You can export one. If you do a search you will find some guys who have done it through a reputable agent without coming ove rto LOS

I love the VIGO 3.0 which I test drove last week

    Good luck

    thanx guys,

ive done a lil searching and i think hes bought a brand new Vigo, great value i think.

im not thinking of trying to import to UK,more interested in the costs in LOS as i hope to living there soon. :D

now all i need is a good value condo :D

  11. Next month i will be coming over to LOS for about 2 months.whilst there i will be researching long term rent or perhaps buying a condo.

Can anyone give me any tips or good contacts ie real estate offices etc.

Also what is the property market like, are prices rising and do they sell quite quickly.

ok thats all for now but any info would be appreciated :D

ooooooooops :D sorry forgot to say i was going to stay in the pattaya/jomtien area :o

  12. I guess the lesson here is that, as with many bureaucratic procedures around the world, getting a Thai retirement visa is a crap shoot, and even the experts in a specialized forum like this one can't tell you with any certainty just what rules will be followed at any particular place at any specific point in time. It's probably best to just follow the instructions you're given by the person with whom you are dealing.

Harpman88 got his with a single, half hour visit to the New Orleans consulate. Mine took nearly a month with the Houston consulate which is only a few hundred miles away. Clearly, each consulate used different procedures to reach the identical result.

Curiously, and according to George, each charged too much and issued inappropriate multiple entry visas.

Is it any wonder that first-timers are confused?

    I'm a newbie,and boy am i confused :o .

there seems to be so many conflicting answers to the same

    question.

hopefully before i try out the so called retirement visa i'll have

    worked it out. :D .

    regards Steve
