  1. Glad you're OK and that you are back on the bike.

So did you figure out what went wrong ? To me it looks like two things.

Just prior to the accident you braked - or at least let go of the trottle - putting more weight on the front weel and extending the distance from front to back weel requiring a larger turn radius (because of released suspension).

You tried to steer the bike through the corner by just pulling the handlebar - which usually will make the front wheel loose friction (especially with added weight on the front weel) - since the cam angle didn't change.

If you need to adjust the curve it is quite essential to lean into the curve. You learned it the hard way - but that sometímes means that it is remembered better...

Please don't considder this a negative know it all post. I too make mistakes and am always happy when somebody helps me figure out what went wrong.

What goes wrong is people driving too fast and have no vision ahead!!

  2. I don't disagree with this quote; Wear it or face rapid natural selection. I prefer to wear very little as is my choice, is it the wrong choice only time will tell!!

There are 2 kind of bikers , the ones that had crashed and the ones that are going to crash . Rusian Roulette to wear little protective gear .

The worst accident i had was insidie City , an unexpected ride on Saturday morning to office , not on kilometric routes. You should see how the jacket and globes where after the crash.....

    What are globes?

Yes, unfortunately it certainly will. Have you ever crashed- low side or high side? You'll change your attitude once you've gone down.

No I have never had a crash of any significance, that doesn't mean to say I believe I never will!!

  4. Old rule for motorists: ATGATT (all the gear, all the time).

I flipped my Triumph over a couple years back in Spain. The bike just slid from under me in walking speed when breaking on a zebra. T-shirt, shorts, no gloves, but I had a helmet. Minimal damage to the bike (a couple of scratches, one broken signal), but I myself suffered from painful "asphalt rash" on both my knees, other thigh, hands and elbows and other shoulder. I would have avoided all of the pain if I just had my normal riding gear on.

    Motorcycle + shorts + t-shirt, never again.

Your post does not make any sense! you flipped your bike over at walking speed? What do you mean flipped over? normal walking speed is said to be 4 mph, for a bike this is virtually standstill, all the injuries you mention came from you falling off your bike whilst virtually not moving? can you explain a bit more?

  5. People will do it until the inevitable happens and it will happen, it's all in good fun though!! don't forget these bikes are very powerful and are designed to go fast, what's the point of owning such a bike if you can't drive it to the limit, it's called a time and a place and the place is a race track at any time you choice!!

  6. Yeah for example wantan dreams a quiet night with his lovely macaques at kao yai national park!laugh.png

I was refering to the ride not the speed but anyway i dont expect a macaque lover to understand everyhting anyway!

As a macaque lover i absolutely understand the need of primates to brag wink.png Maybe you not believe it, but at night its actually very quiet in Khao Yai. Lovely. Will be there the next weekend. Imo perfect to combine some riding with having a nice time in beautiful nature. What i really not understand is how people like to waste their weekends on race tracks. But each to their own smile.png

Do you mean public road race tracks? You like to have a nice time then comes along a dick doing 230kph and ruins your life!!

  7. Crazy!!

usual drill for me and not that crazy.

I'm trying to get my head around your comment not that crazy, are you serious? You don't think it is dangerous to ride at those speeds! up to you I suppose until some one pulls out on you!!

I like rides like this...to watch on the screen...and don't even dream about doing such a crazy thing myself......there is to many unpredictable risks, like cars changing direction, people crossing, well, dogs for sure...or a flat... etc

...maybe on the race track, but still....or maybe I'm to old for this tongue.png

Let the other do it and hope they live long enough to post it...smile.png

BTW,in the different run on R1 he hit 299km/h w00t.gif

Crazy people, it will all end in disaster eventually, you just have to hope that when it does they don't involve anyone else!! at those insane speeds it will nearly always involve other people!

One of the reasons why I drive sensibly and at lower speeds is because in my last occupation I saw and dealt with many bad accidents, bike accidents always being the worst! I don't ever want to be involved in a bad accident here!!

  8. I am rarely asked for advice and rarely give it in regard to what people should wear when riding. For around town I wear a 1/2 helmet and sunglasses. Out on the highway, Cordura jacket, light weight leather gloves and boots.....and jeans.

What you wear is up to you. smile.png

Wearing something similar now if going out

Good helmet, safety jacket, kevlar jeans, alpinestar mc shoes and some gloves. I could not do full leathers while im sure it would be better.

Yes that is what I will be going for, I have to be comfortable!!

That sounds more up my street! my local shop sells Kevlar jeans, I will be looking for a suitable comfortable jacket! cheers!

if you leave things to time regarding riding a bike naked, you end up in hospital my friend!

I don't disagree with you, I am now looking into some gear! for me it has to be light and stored easily on the bike! I've been riding bikes for over 40yrs and never been in hospital etc, that's not to say I don't think it can never happen, I am fully aware all the time an accident could happen, over confidence can be a killer!

  12. I can understand people wanting to drive very very fast from time to time but to do it on public roads is just irresponsible, not only is it irresponsible it is putting the speeders life and the life's of others at risk, what about the condition of the road surface, is it possible to see and react quick enough to avoid some of the huge holes on Thai roads? it would not matter how much protective gear the rider is wearing it would not save him at these insane speeds, there is a time and a place for this type of driving, if you want to drive at high speeds do it on a race track where you will be risking your own life and not the life's of others!! There is a lot of bad driving here from the majority of people speeding is by far one of the worst things and is responsible for many deaths, this is fact!!

I believe alcohol is as much to blame as speed. I do agree with you re Protective Clothing at insane speeds, but cannot understand your reluctance to wear protective gear at the speeds YOU RIDE at. They will save/help you for sure. You seem to be very responsible with the safety of your RIDING. Many of us have learnt the hard way and I sincerely hope you do not do the same.

Thanks for your reports on the NC700 BTW.

I am looking at some gear now, I do not disagree with anyone about the wearing of protective gear, I am looking at a waist coat which has excellent back chest and top of the shoulder protection, that will be good for me, I will look at some elbow protection if it can be got in a sock type form something that can be taken off and stored on the bike, I might invest in a pair of Kevlar jeans, I am now going to wear something!

  13. The stuff I have is from Putoline, TECH CHAIN ceramic chain wax non-fling, from Bigwing, not used it yet but seems good, no lube anywhere on the bike!
DP reading your post again and you haven't used it yet and no lube anywhere on the bike.!? Am I missing something here? :)

Well the bike is new so it has chain lube on it from new, there is no lube splattered on the bike from the lube that was applied to the chain by the dealer, are you missing something, yes you are, maybe my explanation will help you! I have a new can of this lube that has not been used yet because there is no need as yet! Going by the fact the bike has no lube splattered about so far I am assuming this is a good chain lube to use! Hope this clarifies the confusion.
