  1. This is very normal,  I normally agree on a lower rental price and the spotter gets the first months rent. I never have any problems with this.

The house I am in now the deposit on top of the first months rent was virtually given back to me to make the improvements I wanted to and those the landlord wanted to make to help me live here. The spotter got the first months rent.

Welcome to a country that loves playing games with money and this country has one of the best cultures for compromise.

I hate it but find it is like being called farlang. Just takes a bit of getting used to.

  2. I have been here for 10 years. Mostly in CHiang Mai.

I have found the Thais are becoming just like the Australians I left. To much money makes people very boring.

I had a relationship similar to this and for me she was content and happy she had a good man. I finished it because it was just not fun. Up to you.

I live in the central area of Thailand and will spend the next 12 months finding out how to get myself, the car and my dogs into another country. Thinking Vietnam.

Having spoken to many other people from neighboring countries they all come out with the same saying when Thailand is mentioned.

"Please do not Thai to me." is the common statement.

All the interesting people have left and it always seems to be the ones that come to Thailand to do the same as they did in their own country that defend it.

Get married and have kids and pretend it is better here.  Next you will find them telling you how sport should be more entertaining and their government should be giving them something.

Need some creativity and cannot get it here anymore.

    Bye all, Enjoy your repetiveness.

  3. HI all,

I currently use Linux 17 Qianta on all my computers and love it. I do not understand why anyone uses Apple or Windows now.

I am looking at purchasing a Tablet x netbook computer and I am hoping to use linux on it as well. As I have never done this before does anyone have any info on best version to download and the best phone company to go with.

I am looking at the Asus TRansformer netbook tablet. Any suggestions on the best computer to buy would also be appreciated.

    Thanks all

  4. Any locals in Phitsunalok know of a house for rent around the Indochina intersection or up route 11 to the north.

I am an Aussie guy who lived in Chiang Mai for 10 years and have made a change to phitsunalok. I will be here teaching in Cambridge College (Teerada school) for the next year and need a house with fences and a garden.

I have 2 house trained dogs. I mean it these dog know where to do stuff and where not to. One is a Labrador and the other a Golden retriever x street dog. They are trained so well that I often take them to restuarants with me. I have also travelled all of Northern Thailand with them as well as KO Chang and some of Issan. They will and have slept on the floor in hotels. The whole idea of the move from see more of this area.

I got rid of the girlfriend. So it is just the three of us.

I can spend up to about 6000 baht a month but anything lower would be more suitable.

If anyone can help it would be most appreciated.

    Cheers Mark

  5. Hi all,

Friend is looking for Poles so she can continue her sport while living in Chiang Mai.

Anyone know if they are made locally or where I can buy 45 mm diameter stainless steel or steel poles with a thread at one end. Any info about buying them in Bangkok would also be very appreciated

  6. Hi there,

I am planning to tsake my very old 2wd car (It has had money spent on it so i am not worried about breakdowns any more than I would be with a new car) from Mae Sot to kanchanaburi on route 109 next week.

My question for those who have been on the road recently.

Does the link actually exist as i cannot find any maps with it listed and if it does exist can 2wd vehicles make the journey.

I have been told that the road has been linked and sealed so all vehicles can pass. I am going to Ti lor sor waterfall and am not sure if i will need to turn around and come the main roads to get to Kanchanaburi.

    Thanks for any advise.

    Regards Mark

  7. Thanks Aris tide. Can i get an idea of what it cost at Lanna.

Smokie. I realised pretty quickly that this type of post would bring varying views and just wanted to shut that down. I have never wanted children. This is not a just thought about it decision. I went to a doctor at the age of 21 in my home country and was told the same thing that you said to me. Nothing has changed for me in 19 years.

It will be done it is just a matter of making sure I have the money and time to relax for a few days after.

If you and the other poster like I will take a photo of the blue balls and post it online for you all.

But back to the point. Approximate cost, How long does the pain last. A good doctor are all the things I was hoping for. ANyone with that information would be helpful

    cheers.

  8. Thanks for the reply but did not ask for a lecture.

If anyone feels they need to tell me they know me better then I do please do not reply.

The question being asked is does anyone have any information on the procedure. Not can you assess my mental state for me.

  9. Hi all,

I have just Turned 40. Have no kids and want to keep it that way.

Anyone have any idea how much a vasectomy costs in Chiang Mai and any suggestions as to the best hospital.

I normally go to Radjadev near the holiday Inn for most general stuff and found them reasonable in all areas.

    Thanks
