This one sounds strange. Firstly the man is a Canadian. Secondly he is married and lives with his Thai wife - so I will wait out the result on this one.

Says it all...
Well put Folium, thepicture was a great and memorable moment for thousands of South Africans. Francois was a pretty good spokesman as well!1

I really don't understand how they can have accident with an anchored boat...It is common sense to slow down when you arrive near a port or a beach. I could understand if the accident took place with another speed boat involved with a really bad weather....but this...It makes me feel like the driver was drunk and took drugs and was not even looking where he was going.
And it always happens in Pattaya ! What is wrong with them ?
It's just the old "no rules/save money theme". Take the parasails for example. It is law in most countries to have a "driver" and a "watcher" ie: two people in the boat. When the "driver" is also "the watcher" and he is trying to land a parasail on a platform in the wind can he really see where he is going?
THey were obviously not towing anything in this case, butI have seen these boats racing each other on the way back from Koh Larn - both drivers looking at each other and shouting comments - definitely not looking where they are going.
Anyway it is lovely to walk along the beach early in the morning and inhale the fresh smell of petrol and two stroke oil as these jokers gun their engines to get their overloaded boats out of the shallows.
May these recent people RiP but there are definitely gong to be more.

The old story - make it illegal and everyone wants a bit - legalise it, control it and stick some cash in the government coffers......
I think that if they made crash helmets illegal tomorrow they would all be wearing one LOL!

I would say NamKangMan has possibly the best solution.
The 800 k for retirement visa is just not there - I mean for an extra fee the boys in brown will "arrange" the funds for you which are as someone else said immediately drained after the application.
I am involved in the medical insurance business and do know the difficulties for people over 65 to obtain insurance - certainly after 70, although obtainable, beyond most peoples' budget.
A government"medical aid" system could be instituted for an additional fee on the visa allowing the individual to go to government hospitals for treatment. This could be compulsory for anyone who cannot prove that they have private cover when going for their 90 day stamp.....
Better than nothing except moans and groans!

Folks
This is the Andaman sea, not the Gulf of Thailand, the flags are prevalent at most of the beaches in Phuket at certain times of the year - it's not so much the size of the wave, but the undercurrent is wicked - this can be seen by the angle of the sand to the water.
These people obviouly hadn't spoken to anyone. Everybody who lives in Phuket will tell you that that most of the beaches are dangerous at this time of the year (yes even the theiving baht bus drivers !).
With the exception of Patong and a couple of lesser know other's that is pretty much the case in Phuket.

Did anyone really think that this wouldnt happen ? He had money - bye bye.
Besides the police are too busy solving real crimes such as turning left at a set of lights........which incidentally you could do for the last 10 years.

Me I'm going in to defense mode - park up the bike, off to Samed Island, less motorbikes and far less baht buses, shouldn't get run down on the beach..........just have to keep an eye on the jet skis LOL

Hi
I am an ex smoker of 9 years now and probably bought shares in Nicorettes yacht - the gum worked eventualy and certainly takes away the craving. Somebody up north has asked me to try and find champix for him. I am in Pattaya and dont fancy going to the Bangkok Pattaya Bandits hospital. Can any champix user in Pattaya please tell me which pharmacy they got the starter pack in and what they paid.
It would be appreciated!
Thanks

Hi Dont know if you've had any luck yet, but I was also looking for coconut flour to use in indian curries and having no local luck except for bulk exporters came across a "make yer own" video on you tube.
The pith or meat should be easily obtainable from a Thai wet market where they scrape the coconuts for the milk or alternatively I am going to try dessicated coconut.
I cant post the link but go to youtube
If this doesnt work go to youtube and search for " the healthy home economist coconut flour"
Rgds

Not actually attacking or defending anyone - I have actually met him and he was introduced to me as Canadian Chris.
