  1. unfortunately this will take time, I worked as a volunteer during the Tampa bay massive oil spill, they never did clean it all up.Did not even come close, all the environmentalists said Tampa bay would die and all the fish were poisoned. But mother nature did clean it up, it took about a year for all the traces of oil were completely gone. Worked during the Valdez oil spill hauling out supplies to workers mopping up oil off rocks, they never got half of the oil due to accessibility, and the shore was all rocks. Workers spent 10 hours a day wiping rocks and every time they picked one up oil would seep up from the rock below. But mother nature cleaned it all up in about a year and there is no more oil from the spill. Oil is a natural byproduct of the earth and natural oil seeps account for most of the oil pollution in the oceans, microbes will eat the oil. And in a while no trace of this spill will be found. see attached link. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=gulf-oil-eating-microbes-slide-show

  2. I have seen a industrial accident in every country that has any industry, the Thai response is as good as any countries. the beaches can be cleaned, the wild life will survive. Mother nature little friends microbes will eat the oil in the ocean, and in a short time this will all be a memory, as long as the response teams keep working and get the resources needed.

you really think all accidents are caused by drugs or drinking, seen plenty of accidents in the good ol USA with all there rules, regulations, traffic stops, cameras, etc. Life is full of risks and dangers, I just do not need a government nanny state to protect me and give me the false illusion of safety. If you want freedom there are risks, if you are un able to handle the risks that go along with not living in a police state go back to England or some other nanny state.

Before we grab our suitcases please enlighten us as to how may days you've been here?

    5 years,

my opinion for what it worth is, these roads are dangerous very dangerous, if you drive with your head some where else more sooner than later you get a tattoo or worse, most people do not use or even understand what situational awareness is especially the ones on holiday. Are these the most dangerous roads ever, no not by a long shot. I see way to many first time bike riders here, throw in alcohol, being on vacation, etc, you now have a recipe for a accident.

Also see a lot of people come here because it is a cheap place to live, but after a short time they forget why they came here and want to make it more like home, cops everywhere, regulations out you a**, they miss there nanny state.

  5. As a american I like not living in a police state great change from the USA, and I also like living in a non nanny state I do not need big brother to hold my hand, I do not need some one to tell me how to handle taxi drivers, I stay away from jet ski renters so no problem there. I wear a helmet so no problem there, I have a bar follow the rules pay my money and no problems, better protection than the police back home.

My only complaint is the sewage, when you fly in there is a green ring around the island from the algae, and when it rains the raw sewage pours onto the beaches from the drains, that hurts business. Other than that no problems.
