  1. 4 questions:

Are the sons of the headman still on the island, or have they departed now that their 24 hour DNA test cleared them?

Have the 2 men in Sean's photo been identified and tested?

Is the taxi/tuktuk driver who said he was offered 700,000 baht for a fake story still around and safe?

Is the friend of Hannah's who supposedly gave the cell phone to the police, the same cell phone that was 'found' in the room of one of the Burmese boys, available to confirm her actions, or at least reachable?

We all know the police have been made to look foolish throughout this investigation but I would also say the same about Thailand's English language press which has been filled with inaccuracies, conflicting stories, confusing reporting and poor use of the English language.

'We all know the police have been made to look foolish throughout this investigation ...'

Poor English; wrong tense! The Police made themselves look foolish; they needed no help. The Press should be heavily criticized for reporting rumours and non-facts and for the disrespect they continually showed the victims, their families and their friends.

Pol Gen Somyot Phunphanmuang disclosed the latest test of DNA samples collected from semen found inside the vagina and annal of Ms Hannah Witheridge, 23, showed they belonged to Mongoloid people or Asians.

I find it hard to believe that this statement was reported. Who is in charge of this farce?

Unfortunately, the Press is/are compounding the problem by actually printing what these people are saying. Have they no sense of decency either?

  4. I'm not a fan, but she has guts. She came back, showing up all those men with no balls who have fled Thailand for their actions, suspected or otherwise, committed while on the public payroll. Her brother is the worst, of course. Yingluck was not a good PM, but she always 'looked good'. She assumed too many responsibilites, rather than simply be PM. That's tough enough as it is. She was naive and misled by her brother and his cronies. Without being privy to the facts it seems to me that her biggest crime was negligence. She did not properly mind the store. Let's hope this matter is resolved quickly and fairly, and Thailand can move on, hopefully without these very negative influences.

  5. She seems to be always just with her son. What has happened to her husband?

Rumor has it he was irked that his "wife" was caught in a compromising position in an executive suite with a youngish, handsome and mega rich property developer at the 4 seasons hotel while she was supposed to be attending parliament. His mood soured further after the witness to the amorous encounter was brutally murdered to stop him recounting what he saw. Every man's patience has its limit.

I completely missed that about the witness's demise.

  6. Something bad happens down the line, the top guy falls on his sword. As it should be.

This wouldn't have happened before the coup. No matter how high you are, if you screw up, you will be held responsible. Well done!

Except he refused to fall on his sword. The General had to provide the 'exit permit'! Good riddance.

  7. 'Women only cars'? What a joke. The murderer/rapist was an employee, and drunk. So the brilliant management decides to solve the problem by segregating women and disallowing alcohol or beer consumption by passengers on trains. I see nothing about having 'women only maintenance staff' for the 'women only cars'! They might consider that.

I'm glad, however, that the head of Thai Rail has been removed from his job by the Army. Hopefully he'll be replaced, as will others, by people who are not so clueless and can focus on real solutions, real HR policies, real employee training and supervision.

1,000 baht a day on an unsecured loan of 300,000 is only 10% interest, not a bad deal. Better than some banks here, the banks are the real loan sharks.

I don't know what type of math you studied, but 1,000 baht/day = 365,000 baht per year interest, assuming no principal is repaid. That works out to a little over 120% per annum!
