  1. I will be changing that info next month. Im not looking for advice here, Im just letting you all know that big brother is indeed coming. get your houses in order before Jan 25
  2. My D/L is Thai. i think they only want the main page of my passport for identity purpose
  3. IMPORTANT INFORMATION My bank called me today and said that they needed to update my account details, which would take 20 minutes or so and it seems that transam was right to warn us. They asked me if my address and phone number were correct, no problem, but then they started asking me where I was and after I told them I spend the winters in Thailand and Barbados. they then asked me how long I spend in England, to which I replied at least 6 months in Europe, including England. They then sent me an e-mail and part of the text was as follows What we need you to do Please send us certified* photocopies of the original documents. We require one item of documentation from the list below to evidence your identity: Your passport (a photocopy of your visa is also required to be certified if you are a non-EU national currently visiting the UK and providing documentation to any NatWest branch) Your photo card drivers’ licence (if you are a UK/EU national) Your EU National Identity Card (if applicable) Please do not send originals. Mobile phone bills and internet access bills will not be accepted. The below options can be used to certify your documentation which should be personally presented to: A NatWest branch if you are living in/visiting the UK Another bank. The full address of the branch and name of the certifying officer will be required A lawyer, notary or accountant (or local equivalent) During the conversation I asked the lady if I was legally bound to answer their questions to which she answered no, but we may well close your account if you dont. Anyway, I will be telling the DWP about my recent move to Thailand in the very near future as it looks like the party is well and truly over.
  4. I'm not going to try and match your 83 posts on this subject, but I will put your mind at rest. I'm 80 years old and I'm not stupid enough to give half of my well earned pension away. My pension has always been paid into my English bank account, which I opened almost 50 years ago and all correspondence from the DWP is passed on to me from my French address. Life certs are signed here and sent back to France to be posted in the brown envelope, which is what the DWP asks us to do. Some years ago I was asked where I'd been living for the last 12 months and I knew that they had no choice but to accept what I told them, so I told them what I could remember. I hope that those of you who have been worried by this idiot, who is probably feeling a bit stupid by now, will see that there is nothing to worry about if you haven't committed a crime. You make too many assumptions transam, some of us are more intelligent than you, probably the majority in fact!
  5. I have been living here for 13 years now and my pension has been increased regularly. My last 2 life certificates have been signed by my local pharmacist (in Thailand) and prior to that in France, where I have a permanent address. People like the paranoid transam do the rest of us a favour by believing the bs that he reads, as I cannot imagine any government spending a fortune trying to track down those of us who don't declare that we live in Thailand, let alone trying to access our bank account details. Do you honestly believe that we'll all be done for fraud? You're out for a laugh transam. Do yourself a favour and call it a day, stop making a fool of yourself.
  6. I didnt write this James, it was Gottfrid.
  7. Thank you all for your input, lots of opinions to digest, as a lot of you say, I'll see for myself.
  8. Sounds pretty good jojo, thanks for the advice. I hope to visit Hua Hin by the middle of next month, my gf is the chef in a busy restaurant here and will be on holiday by then. I’ll put together a list of properties and in the meantime get the house painted before I look for another visitor with more money than sense.
  9. C ’we don’t know who they voted for
  10. Thanks for your reply, I will definitely look into home dialysis and the 2 private hospitals are a big plus for Hua Hin. I do most of my shopping and cooking myself and try to avoid food high in potassium etc and have managed to keep my GFR at around 20 or above for a couple of years now. It’s like walking a tightrope, I swim and exercise everyday, which has helped.
  11. For several years we had to do our extensions in Samui, until this year when KP Immigration became qualified. The main problem was that none of the staff could speak English and couldn’t understand their own paperwork, hopefully things will get better. Everything is more expensive here and property sales and rentals have probably doubled during the last 3 or 4 years, maybe because of the influx of Israelis and Russians, who have continued to push up the prices. My house is close to the main road between Thong Sala and Chaloklam, about 10 mins drive to the nearest beach and you could have rented it for 25000 thb 4 years ago. 91 gasoline is 40 baht plus and produce is more expensive as most of it comes from the mainland. I’m hoping to make around 2m baht by buying a similar property on the mainland and selling mine, but I wouldn’t advise anyone to invest here now.
  12. Thanks Jim, having experienced the crowds in Surat Thani gov hospital, I think it might be difficult to avoid in a decent hospital. I'll bear in mind your advice if I choose Hua Hin.
