To Brastgreek, How long did you wait for the interview at Lamlukka after your application was submitted to the MOI? I suggested that you keep everything until you get the Thai ID Card and Thai Passport as my mother and sister who got Thai Citizens were asked to show these documents such as Current Passport, Thai Alien Resident Documents and workpermit to the authorities when they applied for Thai ID Card, Driver License and Thai Passport or change the data in Thai Bank etc. I also suggested you to keep the copy incase you might need them.
Hi - Its my first time posting on a blog, so please do bear with me
I was called for interview at Lamlukka (Pathumthani) by the committee last March 2015 and it seemed everything went well. I understand that the next step is "Interior Minister approval"? Am I correct? If yes, what is the latest timeline for the approval (from the date of interview)?
If not, what is the next step and what is the latest timeline of each subsequent stage?
Another question, at which step I have to return the work permit to authorities?
Can anyone clarify the next steps in the process after approval by the large committee? I understand the steps involved but have received conflicting information about the order of those steps (even officials were contradicting each other). I do, however, understand that the timeline between steps is no longer what it used to be, i.e. it is now much faster.
Following Interview by the committee at the Interior Ministry, mine went like this:
1) Interior Minister approval, which was confirmed by letter notification of approval posted to my home address
2) Notification of HMK approval (no letter this time - I was told verbally by SB)
3) I was asked to take the oath at Special Branch
4) My name was published on a list signed by the Interior Minister. This list was presented to me by Special Branch as a book along with various other unrelated regulations that had been approved that day5) Armed with this book of regulations, I could immediately get my certificate of naturalisation issued by SB -
Thank you for the information!

Hi House 11111 Could you advice me how long do you have to wait to get the MOI Interview after your application sent to the MOI? MOI official told me that I have 480 people ahead of me. Right now they are working on the applications about 15 people per months. So it will take about 3 years to get them to look at my applications.

Sorry my response was in regard to letter of income - too many threads coming together too late switching back and forth between subjects. That nationality letter would just be a notary signature and not have anything to do with legal consequences. Sorry for misunderstanding.
I submitted with the affitdavit blank form with simple statement and got notarized by US Consul. They don't bother to read the letter from the Special Branch Police. Now waiting for translation.

Thank you for the advice! I will go to the US Embassy tomorrow! May be I just make the simple declaration in the Affidavit. Hope everything goes well tomorrow.

Hello! I just applied for the Thai nationality at the Special Branch Police. I got the letter from the Special Branch Police to give to the US Consul requesting the US Consul to issue the ceritificate of intent to relinquish the US nationality once granted Thai nationality.
So my question is what kind of form do I have to fill out at the US Embassy or do I just give the original letter in Thai from the Special Branch Police with the translation to the US Consul Then the consul will issue the letter?
Does anyone have experience with the US Consul about this matter?
Just filled in a Declaration i wrote, witnessed by Oz embassy. you will need to get it translated.
Thank you!

Do not believe the US Consul has anything to do with any letter you may provide Special Branch but as have no experience can not say. But you do not lose US citizenship easily and believe can safely say pro forma type paperwork for new citizenship would not be an exception.
Thank you for your comment!

It is not an issue unless done for the purpose of losing citizenship.
Section 349 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1481), as amended, states that U.S. citizens are subject to loss of citizenship if they perform certain specified acts voluntarily and with the intention to relinquish U.S. citizenship..
What about a US Citizen who apply for Thai Citizen at the Special Branch Police? The Special Branch Police issue the letter to the US Consul that this US Citizen apply for Thai Citizen and as part of the process, they need the certificate of intention to relinquish the US Citizens once granted the Thai nationality. Will this fit under this Section 349? Will this US Citizen who apply for Thai citizens loss the US citizens right away even they haven't got the Thai nationality yet?

To Brastgreek, Thank your for you information. Wow that is very long time. Almost 7 years just to get the interview! For the work permit, I am not sure. You better ask SB whether you still need work permit or not. I am also curious about that too.
