  1. If you are taken by force and forced to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you enter you pin number backwards. You will still receive the funds. The machine automatically alerts the local police who know your location. But this is Thailand who knows? A little off topic but very relevant.

I can also tell you how to get into your car if you have locked the keys inside with remote, but have a copy of remote with a friend and a cell phone..

  2. Hi All

I had my wallet bag snatched out of my hand 30th May by 2 guys on motor bike Soi Bakaue lost my passport and NZ$3200 and few other bits. Called 191 emergency and it just rang rang no answere tried 4 times.

My friend, an expensive lesson. Those bum bag/wallet bags are like a neon sign saying "take me, take me" Carry your wallet or cash in your front left pocket and make sure you keep your hand close to it. If ladyboys or kids approach just stick your thumb in your pocket and feel the presence of your valuables, also protecting your watch from getting lifted. If they feel your other valuables, as in your tackle, let them.....protect your wallet at all costs.

Also, don't carry those ridiculous sums of money around. You can open a bank account in 20 minutes and use ATM's like a local. And don't carry your passport either, just carry a copy.

How do you open a bank account without a work permit?

You've been a member 2 years and you ask this? You gotta be kidding right? You don't need a work permit! Kasikorn Bank for example you can open unlimited amounts of accounts with just your passport. I have 3 with them, 1 for savings, 1 for PayPal and another for everyday use.

  3. Had to venture out on the motorbike yesterday in Chiang Mai and had managed to avoid much of the mayhem. However, even though I was seen to be trying to carefully navigate traffic, I still got a full bucket of ice-cold water thrown directly at me by a farang. I enjoy the festivities as much as anyone but some people are just plain thick in the head.

Riding a motorcycle during Songkran is hardly intelligent.

  4. Gun crimes everywhere. A friend of mine went into our local pub in the Uk and was talking about the amount of rodents he had breeding in his shed and gardens someone suggested shooting them, to which he stated a bit cruelly (IMHO) 'sounds like it could be a fun thing to do at the weekend' well anyway more drinking ensued and the request for .22 type pellet gun was put out.

Over the course of the following week nearly every time he visited the pub, there was a different shady character lurking about waiting to sell him something over than a (pee shooter) He said he was even offered a semi automatic weapon! to do the job, very telling of our times. Just goes to show you,

    Jackanory.

  5. I find the commercials even more annoying and sometimes so ridiculous it's almost unbelievable.

Like if I'm going to buy a condo do they really think having a stupid James Bond type character running down Bali Pier chasing the bad guy with the plans for the new project a good selling point?

Or the woman tied to a chair half naked calling help me help me then the SAS go and rescue her! lmao

Or the patronizing <deleted> who just said he will give you 50k if he don't get your visa then slams the cash on the table. rolleyes.gif

Pattaya TV is a complete joke, there's not much we can do about it but laugh!

  6. It is not the fact that he is French it is just a sign of a typical Cheap Charlie scum that will argue the toss over tiny amounts of money and become aggressive. More often than not the Cheap Charlie is in the wrong, drunk, rude and just down right disgusting.

I really hope this idiot has to pay the lady a nice bit of compensation, absolutely disgraceful behaviour.

  7. some are full with the out and out scum of the earth.

Really blink.png - I'm not a regular there but have been more than a few times. I've found the 2 bars I go to fine, beer is cheap and the bar staff are very friendly.

If I were you, I'd be careful about labelling a group of people as "scum of the earth".

Like I said some of them are OK. Some are full of the "scum of the earth" if being out your face on something and <deleted> and blinding loudly and arguing over the check bin like animals at 50+ years old is cool with you then I guess we've been bought up different.
