Yep done it here twice, first time my Swiss bank who would not send a replacement to me here, you can imagine what I think of them and if I still bank with them. Second was my UK account and it took two weeks to get the replacement. Luckily had another account and card.
I did it in Romania too as the procedure is the same but some lovely lady ran after me and handed it to me. -
I am in the process of writing to two friends in Belgium, who wish to visit Thailand for the first time.
Initially, the trip was Bangkok, Racha Islands, Phuket, Samui, Koh Tao and thence to Bangkok.
In view of the seemingly endless violence in and around Phuket where senior ambassadors plead with the Governor of Phuket to at least try and reduce, just reduce the robbery, the jet ski violent scams in which the Police seem to be involved, Russians beaten up or beating up others I wrote to them to cut out the ten days planned for Phuket.
Yes, I know that since the advent of Taksin and his lawless red-shirts, law and order in Thailand take a back seat - it would be nice to hear that things are getting better on this front.
Um, I guess you don't live in Phuket, why tell people not to come here so they can see for themselves. Millions of visitors a year cannot be wrong and they aren't all perverts!
I have been here for 2.5 years and never had any major problems that wouldn't have happened in Europe.
It's a shame that Phuket has such a bad reputation as I actually love living here in the South of the island although I do stay away from the mad places like Patong unless it's a special occasion.
Common sense is the best defense.

My Thai friend posted this on her FB page. I got really bored and didn't even notice they were Ladyboys :-p

Unfortunately this extends outwards even to my sister who considers all Thai women to be prostitutes. Sad really as a friend of mine tells me it is ten times worse as an extortion industry in the Ukraine.

I don't believe it's off topic to quote the situation that rules are clearly displayed at government offices for the presentation of photos for official business.
Read, do and it's easy, why make it difficult? Should have just gone and bought a shirt.

Seems a few people are missing the point here. You are in Thailand and they have rules like any other country. You may have noticed the signs on the doors of immigration regarding dress and behaviour.
The one thing I have become aware of in this Kingdom is that there are laws and rules that are broken and those that are not. Have you ever seen a guy in a singlet in a temple? I don't understand why people think they can disregard these when it's so easy to make it easy!- 1

It's actually quite easy to live in Phuket and spend less that in Bangkok if you have some savvy. Been there two years and went from a $100 lifestyle to a $10 one and didn't lose the pleasure of living in one of the best places I have ever lived. Go as tourist then find the right places to be, easy.

Yes I had around 42,348 nicked from my UK account from someone in Vietnam. Never been there and have no idea where the skim took place, but definitely in Phuket or Samui/Phangan. This is not the first time though, it happened to me at Heathrow!

Haha April fools!!!!

I have sent messages to several people posting here and have not received one reply.
The latest is this http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/627825-technical-writers-jobs/?view=getnewpost which has an e-mail address that bounced as not existing and the thread is locked.
Same poster with this http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/627826-group-writers/?view=getnewpost and same aspects.
What's the point?

Haha this is so funny. Doesn't look like it is advisable to eat so just drink beer

Bank of Ayudhya has been recommended by a Thai friend and I have never seen a Super Rich outside Bangkok.

Kasikorn nicked 2000 baht off me on the last transfer I made from the UK of 40000! Being investigated by my UK bank now.

Plastic is recyclable and in Phuket I have a lady who comes and picks up all my glass, cardboard and plastic. She earns her living doing this and is very grateful. Don't understand why people have to burn it.

Yeah my card got scanned but I don't have a Thai account. The thieves withdraw nearly £1000 in 4 withdrawals at a supermarket in Vietnam and another payment somehow.
Luckily I am with HSBC in the UK and they realised and blocked my card so I had to be in front of an ATM and call them to get any cash until I went back to Europe. They refunded the money and launched their own investigation.
The same thing happened to me in Heathrow airport of all places with the same result. -
What are the accusations? I heard that it was a great party. Isn't that what Patong is all about?

It's about time, why can't people sit on a towel like we all used to?

Skytrain and expressways are the solution for now.

Maybe they should follow the UK and introduce a congestion charge. Think of the tea money that will earn!

You can register also with passport. The registration gives free access up to 5 h and is valid until the last day of the month. See http://www.ais.co.th/ictfreewifi/.
Yup just done it and is all good.

Why don't they just make it illegal to buy alcohol, everything else is but still goes on?

I have been here in Phuket two years and am finding it unbelievable how many more elephants have been brought here to live in abject misery. Chained to the floor for ages (watch the way they rock and shake their heads), then made to carry tourists around and then hit with sticks with big hooks on the end.
I live around the corner from a safari and thought I was hallucinating one day when a huge on came charging down the dead end Moo and disappeared into the jungle, his handlers arrived shortly afterward asking if I had seen him. How could I not!
Still this is Thailand!

Hooh flipping hoorray, hope the rest start doing it. No more death defying trips to hand over cash!

Obviously you are far more used to the way that ATMs work here. It is easy to become a creature of habit when the way ATMs work is different in Europe and other countries. Not everyone on here is senile or old, you are just a bit "perfect".
