  1. Many thanks for allowing me to peek at the delights of CR Province. Here is a wonderful array of images covering the beauty and also the reality of an area that I have not visited for too many years. Being a mountain rather than a beach fan - I found the voyage through these pages absorbing - thank you for allowing me to share the sights that some of you see every day.

  2. Hi All

The details for the Ubon travel agent are as follows:

Kangwal office on Chayunkun Road in Ubon Ratchathani city

    KANGWAL  HOLIDAY Co.,Ltd. 281 – 3  Chayangkool Rd., Muang, UBONRATCHATHANI 34000

    (UBONRATCHATHANI BRANCH)  Tel.0-4525-5200 (Auto)  Fax.0-4525-5565  www:kangwal.com  E-mail:[email protected]

I can highly recommend them as I have used this agent twice when in Ubon myself.  Very professional service and english speaking staff.

  3. Greetings all.

Does anyone know of an English speaking travel agent in Ubon?

I may have to pay a flying visit to the wife's family in Amnat Charoen and as I dont speak much Thai and they dont speak a word of English, I am going to need translator plus a set of wheels for a few hours.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    Frank

  4. hi all I heard about the new rule for passengers with flights starting in GB and it said that if the airline cancels then the passenger is entitiled to a fixed penalty payment from the airline, and I believe the penalty for long haul passengers is £400+ does this cancellation come under these new regs

I think you will find that this only applies if cancelled within 15 days of the flight date...

  5. For those thinking of going to Phuket or Krabi from the UK - Eva Air have a promotion on for the next few days for certain April departure dates around GBP300 plus tax. Evergreen is rounfd GBP450 plus tax.

  6. Back here in the UK, have heard numerous stories about the old aircraft that they are using and how friends who have flown them say never again. Phuket Air have, apparently, two fairly new United Airlines B747's coming in July so that will, hopefully make a differnce.

  7. Have just discovered this thread and from the above I understand that my wife with both British and Thai passports can travel with both - however what other documents would she need to present if the Thai passport is in her Thai name and the British is in her married name? Is this a case of changing the name in her Thai passport? Which name should we book her airticket in to make life easy at Don Muang?  Any advice would be much appreciated![/code]

From my personal experience, changing her neam in her current passport was the best solution. Everyome had the same name on passports and plane tickets. it only cost about Bt100 for the endorsement.

However, bear in mind that it also involves changing her ID card prior to the passport change and this can lead to other problems later. Mine started when she sold her old farm and bought a new one. the local Amphur wanted all sorts of signed papaerwork from me stating it was her money, etc....... it all stemmed from her having a falang surname now. Just weigh up the pro's and cons and make an informed decision.

Actually - that requirement is for any Thai woman married to a foreign husband - so they should have got you to sign even before she changed her surname.

Anyway - I've signed myself - it's hardly onerous, sign at a couple of Xs at the Amphur... - how often does your wife buy property?
