Hope we does well. Got very fond memories when he (Gary) first started out. We used to have a good group of people turning up each Sunday.

I have fond memories as well being at Staffords, having long chats with Welsh Tony ( RIP ) and him telling me all about a certain person . Also Colin ( AKA Mr Bean RIP) ,he had a few stories to tell as well ....Happy Days ????

  2. They are being fairly strick with people going to the Immigration Office and fined 800 when they can  . I know people that are on Multi 'O' that use Chong Chom that have been told to report to the Kap Cheong Immigration Office and been fined for previous border runs when they have not reported . I'm on a Multi 'O' and my wife has the Section38 app on her phone so I just report online whenever I have to .Simple to use but you may have to wait a few weeks for the user name and password to come through .

As for that local Forum ( I'm a member though never post as I've been banned a few times and have to fly under the radar  ...lol  ) , the people that run it like to keep it to a small clique ( more like a Face Book freinds page than a forum TBH ) with the average member being well into retirement age ,so I guess the forum will slowly die as its memebrs do. The funny thing is the members had a thread recently saying HOW to attract new members when all the time people ( like you Emptypockets ) are being rebuffed.....................a strange little local forum !!!!

Brits love to claim dark skinned people as their own when they are winning medals at the Olympics or playing football for them or fighting wars for them but soon as they get into trouble they are suddenly Nigerian or Jamaican.

If this was a little blonde Essex girl, they be all saying, silly little lass just made a little mistake.

I concur Ken ( though solely not just the Brits ) , hypocrisy runs deep amongst many of the righteous posters here on TV. ?

It was my 61st birthday yesterday and I arrived in Sisaket at noon yesterday. Natty had a small birthday party for me and amongst the honoured guests was our moderator. He and his significant other left about midnight and we got a call 3 minutes after they had departed, P** said they had hit a dog and then the road. (No helmets)

When we got there D***** was bleeding from the inside of his left ear. We drove him to Sisaket public hospital and after an hour wait took him to the private hospital in Sisaket . D****** kept asking why he was at the hospital, I would explain and 5 minutes later he would ask again. He just wanted to go home and sleep.

We left after P*** family arrived but received a call about 2 am that he had broken his collar bone and had a serious head injury. I believe he was transferred to Ubon Hospital. The information I have is sketchy at best, N*** was intoxicated and P** was obviously in an emotional state. I understand money was needed on the spot with insurance to cover the costs later.

I will do my best to find out what the prognosis is, but a head's up that one of us in in serious difficulties and the rest of us need to step up and help out as best we can!

So wear your Crash helmets and  remember to practice what you preach  .........as Dilligad once said about crash helmets It's not just not wearing a helmets thats the problem, it's doing up the strap to stop the bugger falling off too!
They should start with the custodians of the law. How many BIB do you see with their little helmets wobbling around on their empty noggins!!!

    Lead by example!!!! (Not)"  !!!!!

  6. Your friend should have asked for the relevant stamps in the old passport to be transferred to the new one.

I thought they no longer did that ?? http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/663684-new-rules-for-extensions-of-stay-with-expiring-passport/

So how come he managed to get his passport stamped for an extension until September, then, if it is "just about to finish" (which any reasonable person would, of course, take as meaning rather sooner than September)? Under the old rules which have been superseded by those referred to in your linked thread, he should have been given an extension up to the expiry date of his old passport and, in due course, returned to Immigration to be stamped in for the remainder of his extension period in his new passport. Alas, that, as your linked thread makes clear, is no longer possible.

I don't know ..maybe the Immigration office didn't check the expiry date on his passport !!

As for any reasonable person!!!...he is 85 ,,,give the poor chap a break tongue.png

I have just spoken again to my friend ( he is getting on in years rolleyes.gif ) and asked him to look in his new passport.!!!

He's told me there are new stamps in there...... for up until his old extensions needs renewing .

So thanks guys... yes they do transfer extensions into new passports smile.png

  8. A friend of mine has just rung me and said .....His old passport is just about to finish so he has been to Bangkok to pick up his new passport.

He went to Chonburi Immigration with all his new paperwork for a new one year extension.Although his extension does not run out until September he knew that Immigration no longer transfered old extensions into a new passport and was prepared to lose 5 months of his old extension. But when he was interview he was told he must wait for his old extension to run out before a new one can be issued.

As his old passport has it's corner cut off how does he travel ? Does he just staple his old and new passport together or has he misunderstood what the Immigration has told him.!!

What are the normal procedures when obtaining a new passport and the renewing of a new extension ??

  9. You are kidding, right?

Thai people seem to be able to get away with playing loud music anytime they want and seem under the impression everybody around them loves to hear it. Do you really think going to the police would do anything. I seriously doubt it.

What I would do is simple. Go around to every single home you believe the music and noise would bother and ask them if they would be OK for one night and INVITE them to the festival / party. That's your best bet IMO.

No idea who’s kidding whom now. It seems that you don’t have a clue about life in a village, do you?

Whenever somebody passes away, there’s at least a three day “Tamboon”, with loud music 24/7. Depending on their social status. Wealthy families do this for a whole week.

Whenever someone passes away it's normally a sombre affair with Violin Music for an hour or so in the morning and evening, to say Thai Villages party 24/7 at funerals is untrue ( gamble maybe wink.png ) , but for wedding or lads becoming a monk it can be as you say " Party Time " partytime2.gif

  10. Maybe I didn't spell it out so succinctly. It's best so seek advice from an independent source. A local builders merchant will recommend friends &/or family so they can get a "kick-back".

It's human nature, everyone knows that.

Is that why you recommended who you did cheesy.gif

Don't judge others by your own standards laugh.png

My recommendation is to drive around locally to where you are going to build and find some house's that you like and then ask the owners who built it for them. Then ask the builder to show you other houses he has built.

Most people that have problems with their builder normally only have themselves to blame, there are some very good local builders out there if you take time to look wink.png

  11. Opps - Nong Khai

Sorry, I thought the opening title of the video would help.

I should have put it in the question title.

Obviously Dilligad didn't even look at the You tube as it's clear where the Night market is. rolleyes.gif

My guess it's just a group of Chinese's Tourist having a group photo with hats they have brought from the Market smile.png

  12. Immigration officer kept glancing at the tip jar.

A friend of mine has just renewed his Retirement extension at KCI. He keeps his money in a Foreign Currency Account ( UK Pound ).He asked at the bank for the letter and his Bankbook to be updated but the girl in the bank didn't fully update the book when it came to the bottom of the page and should have been re-inserted to make it up to date but she didn't.( Yes I know .....he should have checked rolleyes.gif )

Anyway he phoned me to tell me they made him drive all the way back to Surin to update his book as a Foreign Currency Account can only be updated at the branch of issue.

He also told me the Immigration Officer told him there was a 500 baht charge to transfer his visa extension into his new UK passport which he had picked up from Bangkok the day before.

I told him there was not fee to do this and when he receives his receipt, if it only says 1900 baht ask him politely for a bill for 2400 baht as this is what he was told was the cost.

So he waited for his passport to be stamped up and when he got his receipt for 1900 baht he did as I told him to do.

The Immigration officers face turned to thunder and he started speaking in Thai to my friends wife. She then told my friend "why you not give tip". He replied I would have done if he hadn't made me drive all the way back to Surin.

He then put 100 baht in the tip box and the Immigration Officer took it out and gave it back and said he didn't want it ....laugh.png

So be-warned....always asked for a receipt for any money asked for wink.png
