I don't know what countries you're referring to, but I've been to the US embassy a few times and it didn't look like anyone was slacking off to me. I did get prompt, polite and consistently intelligent service and assistance from the employees. Same experience with the consulate.Just maybe, they don't have the time or training to turn themselves into a health clinic.
Where would & to whom would the negligence documents be filed when the first expat dies from complications? Minefield oder?

It's not possible. You can open an account in Thailand and use the New York branch to receive money (which is what I do), but you cannot open an account directly with the New York branch.
The procedure is clearly laid out on BBK website (not surprisingly).
I've used London for years with no problems but each to his own. Wise may work better for you.

If the issue with the water is microbes, boiling is generally fine. Unless you have some of the bugs or their cysts that survive high temperature. But you can filter most (if not all) of those out with proper RO.
If the problem is heavy metals or other chemical contamination (like lead from old pipes or arsenic from groundwater), boiling won't help.
Depends on your source of water, and how you filter it before you boil it. If you think I'm trying to make it sound a little more complicated than yes/no, you are correct.
In Udon-thani province there is colloidal iron left in the mains water. That's toxic at a certain level. We pay 15 THB for 20 litres RO/UV water. No point in risking it.

Sounds to me like the capacitor is going bad. Easy to replace yourself for about 500 baht. If you're not a do it yourselfer, call a tech.
Agreed. That happened to me a while ago. Took 5 minutes to change (mitsub a/C).

Thank you. I have always used the pots of mustard, has anyone tried using the powder that you need to reconstitute? Is it any different?
Unfortunately Villa Market won't deliver to my address but I'll pick up some next time I travel.
Big C Udon carry it, assume other branches do?
For the powder there is a waiting time as the AITC (kick) is formed by an enzyme. 15 mins as I recall from 50 years ago.

Try Italy during August (Ferragosto), or the Philippines during Holy Week (even the Manila MRT is shut).
Or France or Holland.

I am not a regular beer drinker but years ago used to occasionally drink the one you describe and enjoyed.
When they made the change could not enjoy and gave it away.
Now prefer Singha.
Singha Reserve is to my taste 5.3% and fuller mouthfeel.

I have two health care plans, sperate companies, one for me with pre-existing condition and one for the family, plus house and car insurance with them and they remind me annually that it's time to renew.
Highly recommend.
Agreed. Very helpful.

A few weeks ago I started getting pain in my right knee joint. First time its ever happened. I do a short run/ fast walk every day with my dog- twice a day but never had an issue. I noticed when walking upstairs I get a sharp pain.
4 days ago I had severe neck/ back pain. We were staying in a hotel and unsure if it was the pillow. Ive never had that sort of pain before either.
This morning I woke up with pain on the sole of my right foot. Actually it was all a bit numb as well on the right foot area.
Im middle aged. Is this just an old age thing. Anyone with any ideas?
Right, right, right. Wrong. Still could be nothing despite being all on the right but you should toddle along to the Doctor Jack.

The only penalty for being late or not doing a 90 day report is a 2000 baht fine.
Try online reporting 15 days early and if it does not work send it it by mail (registered or EMS) to your local office up to 7 days before your report date.
Dont forget to enclose a self addressed & stamped envelope. Not sure if necessary but better safe than sorry. Mine came back withe no fuss.

During my last stay in Thailand I had a scare when I thought my laptop went bust (it didn’t in the end). I want to prepare for such eventuality in the future. If it breaks or gets stolen, I will need to replace it within 2-3 days because I need it almost daily. I will need a North American version of a laptop, with English keyboard only, without Thai lettering, and with flat-prong adapter. Amazon US site refuses to ship a laptop to Thailand. If I pop into a mall in BKK, they only sell local versions with Thai letters. I checked Lazada, and I also see only local versions online. Is there an online retailer in Thailand, or better yet, serving the entire SEA region, where I can get a North American version of a specific laptop and have it shipped to me express within 2-3 days? I need it to be a reputable retailer that will sell me a brand-new item that will come with warranty and return policy in case of a defect. I will be looking for Asian brands, such as Asus, Acer, or Lenovo, but I need a North American model, or any English-lettering only model (I can get by with the wrong adapter type and replace the adapter later).
Why not order from Dell or Asus Thailand online. I selected a model with both languages but the QWERTY is American.

Got an electric meat grinder today and does a sterling job. I did a batch of beef mince. Used Australian Topside, very lean so added around 30% pork fat. I want to keep it free of filler / binder etc so only added salt and pepper. Ground up a treat and great consistency, all the fat was spread evenly through the mix.
Cooked a couple of burgers and beef flavor superb tender and super juicy. Only thing I noticed was that while the beef wasn't actually falling apart it, it didn't seemed to be holding together as well as it should. I was just wondering for the next lot what may help here?
I pretty much ground it, mixed it and cooked it straight away. Should I have maybe left it in the fridge for a while / overnight to bind?
Should I maybe have mixed or kneaded it for a while? I did do this to get the fat through evenly but only for about 5 minutes/
I used the middle sized cutter die.... holes about 6mm (1/4"). Would it help if I used a smaller hole die or use the same one but put it through the grinder twice?
The mince mix didn't look like it was too chunky, just looked normal.
I have been using Makro pre packed Pro Butcher mince which lately has been getting worse in every respect but it always held well together in burgers.
Like I said I really don't want to add any binding, bread crumbs etc. Any advice appreciated
Just off the bat with no burger experience, would a beaten egg or egg White be able to help?

The rules are usually put in place by national governments and not the airlines...specifically so people like terrorists cannot exploit the system and board planes using false identities. I once made the mistake (and this was way before 9-11) of subbing for a colleague who could not make a work trip...I simply boarded the plane with his ticket..back them nobody really checked IDs...during the flight they questioned me as to my name...and detained me upon arrival pending further questioning before letting me off.....
Tonray is correct. The ability for every Tom, Dick or Harry to manipulate tickets, addresses and Bank details must be controlled.
I made an error with Air Asia but quickly resolved it. The difference? I checked my documents before flying.
The lack of ability for airline staff to make changes at airports is another discussion.

Hi all
My 7 year old son has lost/had his 3 months old Huawei mobile stolen. He's away in Surin visiting family and was playing outside with it with other kids around and it disappeared. He's coming back tomorrow and I'm trying to find an App that will use GPS to tell me the location. I have the IMEI number. I've downloaded several apps but so far can only locate my own phone !!
Anyone know an app that works ? TIA
Huawai has its own app called "find phone" . Maybe download it & give it a try?

Lost me here. That's not a given.
60+1 = zero. (Free days + infection = new free days).

Ditto my neice. At Udon uni nurses school in Nong Sung they took exams. Top X in exams offered places. My neice wasX+5. There is a second nursing course at the main Udon Uni. Places are reserved by paying a fee. My neice got a place on that. She started monday so not sure if its an option still.
Drawback is it doesn't qualify for full nursing. More like nursing assistant is the best Mrs E could explain it. Might be worth asking?
Cheers P.
