I feel like we're in reruns.

Apparently what you do, if anyone says something, is remark, "First time...I never smoke before!"

Rose-coloured works from time to time.

I predict a new location for your business in the not distant future.

I have yet to hear or read any anecdotal evidence of good customer service from the above mentioned provider. Can you guess who's not a subscriber?

Truth in advertising, full disclosure--what a concept!

Exactly right, all. Yes, I can work out the Thai if need be in most instances (the font size is annoying, though). What gets me is when the names of ingredients are changed. E.g., [natural] flavoring to me does not mean the same thing as MSG. More and more processed foods are finding other ways to say MSG (like autolyzed yeast extract or what-not) because they know that consumers will reject the product otherwise. The same goes for trying to hide that products are made in (Red) China, which seems to be the case now for most 'Western' brands of chocolates.

Thais like to say that rich people play the stock market, and poor people play the lottery.

In the past I was very underwhelmed with Big C's bakery. Usually the poor sanitation is enough to put me off entirely, but perhaps in the future I'll try again. I agree that Carrefour's was superior, and I lament their having left Thailand, as they stocked many products that are difficult to find other places. In my opinion, some of the best bread can be had at Saint Etoile's (by Yamazaki) at prices that aren't that bad.

You say scheme; I say scam.

I think putting a price of 7.5 million baht on the head of a teacher would put them at more risk of being killed by a family member than by a terrorist.
A sobering insight...

Someone I know was riding a bus and witnessed an accident (the bus, of course, did not stop, nor was it involved). A speeding luxury car hit a motorcycle and from all appearances killed the rider instantly. The car stopped, the driver got out, inspected the damage to his vehicle, and without as much as a look in the direction of the very recently deceased, got back in the car and resumed driving as if nothing had happened.

Forget statistics and data. More anecdotes and stereotypes, please!

And maybe if they ban drugs, that'll put an end to that, too.

But what about S&P's outlook for cake sales next year?

Close the schools and let them homeschool or learn a trade. I really don't think the results could be much worse. As for the teachers there, I hope they'll get out with their lives and live to teach another day in another place.

OP, why didn't you ever start a business of some sort, work for yourself?

I thought for sure some of the beaches and guest houses/hotels would be packed this past weekend, with prices raised accordingly. To my pleasant surprise things were quiet and very cheap.

...and a tangential tragedy of sorts is how desensitized we can become to these attacks.

There is no real will to change. We're far from reaching any sort of tipping point.

Has anyone considered how many vaccinations they're now receiving and the rise in ADD/ADHD and autism spectrum diagnoses? For whatever reason, boys seem to be affected more. I also see the overdiagnosis phenomenon when there's a buzz-word. Who remembers all the cases of dyslexia? Nevertheless, big pharma will soon come to the rescue, I'm sure.
