I suspect you have done very little research so let me explain a few things - every thing I write here is FACT.
they said they can not stop is spreading - of course not - if there are 8 cases today and 10 tomorrow - it is spreading - if all 10 are in hospital getting treatment and then released = I would agree this is under control. they are not necessarily contradictory comments.
If people who are not educated on exactly what is going on continue to panic yes hospitals will get over crowded despite in most cases having almost ZERO chance to have the virus.
Canadian scientist have stated that only prolonged interaction in close quaters with an infected person are you likely to catch it.
To the best of my knowledge still only 2 people have contracted the virus outside of China - 1 a bus driver of chinese tourists 1 a german who had just spent 1 or 2 days with a colleague from China who sadly did not show any symptoms till after he left germany.
Avoid spending prolonged periods with any one who has just returned from China and the chances of getting infected are incredibly slim - with the information we currently have those are the facts.
stay safe every one but also stay calm.
Who deals with Chinese tourists in Thailand? Airport staff, Tour operators, bus drivers, hotel staff, tourists attractions and venues, shopping centers, cafes, markets, skytrain, taxis, banks and ATM, money changers ... to name just a few. So stay calm and be incredibly vigilant with your own hygiene eg wear masks and wash your hands a lot and maybe use some of that hand sanitizer. And try to avoid prolonged exposure at close quarters with people who have come in from China recently.
Any other suggestions?

I would be getting just a tad worried if I lived and worked in China. Escape hatches are closing....

those that have traditionally flocked to pattaya are ageing fast.
i have seen an increase this year of friends and friends of friends traveling this way. they are coming for islands like koh phangan, or doing wakepark tours of bkk and phuket. they are all 30-45 and are travelling for lifestyle and activities now and pattaya is not on the radar.
they want proper massages, good food, beaches, sunsets, hikes etc.
A good night out involves proper music, cocktails and dinner. Many are vegan, but all are willing to spend on food. the bars may be a curiosity but certainly not a priority.10 years ago, people i know might have had a few days in pattaya on the itinerary, but I cant think of a single visitor through my doors that has had plans to go to pattaya for something other than business in the last 5+ years
many things have changed. Pattaya really hasnt.
I totally agree, Pattaya is stuck in the past in terms of what it offers. I walked down 2nd Road last night and it looked old and tired and grubby. It stank of sewerage at several spots. Few trendy eateries or coffee shops and the markets were selling the same stuff as when I arrived 30 years ago. Charmless and not so cheap anymore.

In Thailand, road toll numbers are made up of those that die at the scene of the accident. There are a lot of victims who die on the way to or in hospital so the figure given is not accurate.

Did first ever TM30 reporting yesterday at Jomtien. Didn’t get to sit down, barely 5 minutes from beginning to end.

Thailand road safety in 2018. Amazing he didn’t give them an amulet to keep them safe too...

So fantastic they have been found alive. Sincerely hope they can be got out safely. They don’t really need an entire dive course - just some basics and confidence to be underwater with a mask. Very hard for these kids who may not even know how to swim, and terrible water conditions.

They are often full of noisy young folk partying. But mostly, as I imagine with Thailand, they largely cater to ordinary folk looking for cheaper and more informal short term accommodation.
Airbnb has caused big problems in many areas in Australia. Owners and lomg term renters do not like being subject to their buildings being used like hotels. Many places now have clauses banning short term rentals. And in some areas there are acute shortages of long term rental accomodations.

Should be up to each condo management to decide how to do rentals its certainly not up to u..
Absolutely should not be up to condo management - how would you ever be sure of buying an apartment to live in if you didn’t want your neighbours changing daily? As a working owner who wants to live in a residence not a hotel environment, I am pleased with the enforcement of the hotel act.

Our condo is our home and lots of people work. It’s not nice to have complete strangers in the building all the time and is a security risk. Holiday makers seem oblivious to the fact they are in a private residential building and make lots of noise, including arrivals and departures at all hours. I also totally object to the demands made on onsite management (paid for by owners maintenance fees) by short term guests. Onsite management is not there to support an owners short term rental business.

Air B&B advertise the potential restrictions to hosts, if they are wiling to read and comply well them, all and good: https://www.airbnb.com.au/help/article/376/what-legal-and-regulatory-issues-should-i-consider-before-hosting-on-airbnb
I have used Air B&B a couple of times, once recently in Pattaya, i,e, we rented a 2 bedroom condominium, which was 20,000 baht cheaper than a hotel, with 4 kids I would have to pay for 2 or 3 rooms, or two rooms with 2 extra beds as allowed in some hotels, and pay an additional 800-1200 baht per bed on top of the 2 rooms, hotels are not family friendly in my opinion, so what are families supposed to do.
In a suburb of Sydney I rent a 2 bedroom 100m2 apartment with parking for a week for 41,000 baht, now for the same amount I would get a 22m2 room in a hotel in the neighbouring suburb with no parking, and kids can share the same bedding because there is no room for extra beds, unless you want to pay for another room.
Its obvious the hotels are playing big to shut Air B&B, personally if Air B&B gets the boot in Thailand, we will holiday at home from now on as I won't be supporting them until they make their hotel rooms family friendly, i.e. without the ridiculous additional bed charges, after all, you are renting the room, and they should accommodate you with the extra beds for your kids, what a rip off, oh don't get me wrong, can afford to pay for the hotel, but why should I when Air B&B is much fairer in value for what you get.
Hotels need to get their acts together, and personally I hope Air B&B is here to stay, the hotels on the other hand should become more competitive, that's how its done in the open market, and how the hell does a court have jurisdiction over how you rent your property, unless its in some strata scheme or by-law, you should be free to rent it out short or long term, as long as you pay your tax.
There are plenty of holiday serviced apartments around. Or get connecting rooms.

So the authorities are content to have so many un-owned animals on the streets. Also so tolerant to the many owners who do not keep their animals within the confines of their properties. This shows a disgraceful lack of care for the community at large and does nothing to alleviate all the problems caused by soi dogs - fights, disease, mess. The ‘angels’ who feed them do nothing to alleviate the problem, sometimes it makes it worse as packs form. Wouldn’t it be nice to walk down a soi knowing younweren’t going to step in dogshit or be attacked by disease bearing strays?

no the international driverslicense is valid for 90 days, you have to do a borderrun and it's valid again for 90 days...isn't it?
That's whay they told me...well actually (in holland) they told me it's valid for a whole year, when i asked about that 90 day rule they couldn't answer me and had never heard of that strange rule.
Where can we read those rules on a official page?
Your international licence may be valid for a year but different countries have different rules as to how long you can drive on it before requiring a local licence.

I am pleased I do not live next to this guy, or near that temple. People feed the stray dogs right near our condo and this encourages a big group of them to hang around. The people who feed them are there for 20 minutes, while the rest of us have to put up with the barking and mess 24/7. It’s misplaced philanthropy and does nothing to solve the problem. Take them home with you and properly own them full-time.

This is so disgraceful I can hardly believe it. What is the mental state of this young man organising all these babies with surrogates? He has raised others in Cambodia and Japan. And his lawyer said he has ‘personal and business reasons’ for having all these children. This behaviour is so questionable. Unbelievable decision by the Court.

How sad. Many instances in Thailand over the years - even in our moobaan someone got shocked by leaning against a lamp pool near our swimming pool. Thai management totally puzzled and suggested the person shocked was ‘sick’ already with a heart problem maybe. Absolutely no sense of safety or responsibility.

He’s been overseas and thought that, if too empty, a beach can feel lifeless.
Funny that in many areas in the world, huge efforts are made to preserve the natural beauty of beaches - ie focusing on clean sand and water and management of coastal habitats. All so people can enjoy the beauty of the natural environment and sports and recreation opportunities.
Never have I ever thought that a clean and natural sweep of beach -without deckchairs or food or beverage outlets, or vendors -was lifeless. Rather, it’s a thing of beauty.
Here, it’s just another opportunity for income generation.

The country is littered with pointless and ridiculous fibreglass figures. Cows in Saraburi, dolphins in Pattaya, cartoon type characters all over the place. Must be a lot of money in it.
-
Maybe THAI would like to invest in making their office in Pattaya more accessable to customers? It is tucked away at the Beach Road dusit corner with no parking and most people wouldn't even know it is there. A higher profile in a tourist town would make sense.
-
I see Thais leaving their trash at many locations all the time: after picnics at the beach, in parks, throwing out of car windows, throwing from motorbikes. Really terrible. What do they think happens to it?

How can local authorities ignore this? TIT. It's always about money here. I would absolutely love there to be a major tourist swing AWAY from Thailand with the reason given as dirty environment, unsafe infrastructure and roads and see if the big fall in income would motivate any changes.
Is there anywhere in Pattaya with face masks left?
