  1. I would appreciate any suggestions as to where in BKK one might find assistance in writing a resume and completing documentation for an application for a P-3 US Visa. The Thai citizen has limited English. First off, we need help from a bilingual person in the preparation of a resume and obtaining the necessary documentation to support the application.

Any help will be much appreciated!

  2. So?

    Whats your point?

Good question and the same thought crossed my mind, after I posted this article that a friend emailed me.

I guess what I was hoping to read was the reaction from the expats in Thailand to the current move by organized religions toward outright hatred, discrimination and prejudice directed toward GLBT persons.

In two weeks I will be heading back to the LOS to further explore a place to move to. I currently live in an oasis in the American sea of growing intolerence for persons who don't fit the Christian-right mold.

I also was hoping to hear some reassurance that the acceptance and tollerence I have so far experenced in Thailand is reflective of the entire country and not just the major and tourist cities.

National Gay and Lesbian Task Force

On the Election of Joseph Ratzinger as Pope

"Today, the princes of the Roman Catholic Church elected as Pope a man whose record has been one of unrelenting, venomous hatred for gay people, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger. In fact, during the reign of John Paul II, Cardinal Ratzinger was the driving force behind a long string of pronouncements using the term 'evil' to describe gay people, homosexuality, and marriage equality. As a long-time Catholic from a staunchly Catholic family, I know that the history of the church is full of shameful, centuries-long chapters involving vilification, persecution, and violence against others. Someday, the church will apologize to gay people as it has to others it has oppressed in the past. I very much doubt that this day will come during this Pope's reign. In fact, it seems inevitable that this Pope will cause even more pain and give his successors even more for which to seek atonement."

  4. I have observed the same with my Thai BF. His education terminated with the 6th grade because his family didn't have the, if I remember correctly, 600 Baht for him to continue his schooling. So, he became a rice farmer and eventually found his way to BKK. He goes to ESL classes from 7-11 and works from 13-22 PM. He could be a brain surgeon if he had had the opportunity to get an education.

Thailand is similar to many countries, including the USA, in that education is the key to solving many of the social and economic propblems. One only needs to look around the world to see the countries that place education as a priority and the results are obvious.

I am taking a TESOL course in July and together with my Juris Doctor degree hope to find a teaching position in Thailand. Each one of us who have contact with a Thai national similar to your Thai wife and my Thai boyfriend, make some small improvement by offering educational incentives and opportunities.

The only thing I feel I can to is to offer the opportunity for my BF and his family to seek to continue to take advantage of current opportunites and to provide the financial assistance needed for his nephews and nieces.

  5. I am planning to look Chiang Mai over for a possible place to relocate. I will need a place to live for 2+ weeks. I found this guest house in PLACES WITH A HEART and it sounded great and reasonably priced as well as great location. Suggestions will be appreciated.

  6. What information do you have for an American moving to Thailand regarding Si Saket living conditions/housing and teaching opportunities?

    Thanks,

  7. I have enrolled in the School for International Training's program with the hope ans expectation that I will be able to find a teaching position in Thailand. I have BA and JD degrees and have practiced law in Iowa, Minnesota and New Mexico for 40 years. Any likelihood this old goat can find employment in LOS?

I would really appreciate any help, direction and advise. This is my first venture into posting a question.

I feel the time is ripe for me to seek some excitement and adventure. I am very fond of Thailand and have friends that have moved there and made new lives and new homes.
