  1. OMG

the simians are even shooting their own goodwill ambassadors

The message is clear, go away flang, but leave your money behind

IMHO los is looking north to their ancestors, and hooking up with them for their future :)

Excuse me, but just how is waiving visa fees giving out a clear message to "go away farang" ?

Most of the honary consulates are running it as a sideline to their existing business, finance and insurance in the case of Sedgewick Dineen in Dublin. They have been paid for this service which is now no longer required. Welcome to the world of business. And boy have they enjoyed the perks such as hob nobbing with dignitaries etc.

Tourists from most countries get 1 month free anyway so it just might encourage some tourists to stay longer in Thailand.

  2. Hi Speedways, thanks for your reply. But does she do immigration in Bangkok or Phuket? Different websites say different things. Some say there is an immigration desk airside at BKK for passengers transferring to Phuket, but others say transfer only in Bangkok and go through immigration in Phuket.

    e.g. From Thai Airways website:

    International to Domestic

If your final destination is Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Krabi, or Phuket, you then proceed to Passport Control at the transfer area on the second floor of concourse A/B. The Customs formality will be done at your destination airport. Transferring to other domestic airports or having baggage checked only to Bangkok , you must land, pick up your baggage, proceed through Passport and Customs Control formalities and check in at Row C on the fourth floor of PTC.

e mail from Thai Airways UK:

If you are flying with Thai Airways both flights and transit time less than 24 hours, you can check your luggage all the way through in London and just change aircraft with your hand luggage in Bangkok. Immigration in Phuket.

    Kind Regards

    Thai Reservations

    from Jolly Thai

If you land in Bangkok you will do the immigration bit there as well. If you are connecting with an internal flight, hold a boarding card and your bags have been checked through you will go through a small immigration area on the right and stay air-side.

    from Thailand for Visitors

If you are flying on Thai Airways and connecting to a domestic Thai Airways flight, you probably do not need to go through immigration in Bangkok if your baggage is checked through. Instead, go to the transfer desk to find out where to board your flight.

Maybe the £300 difference to go from Singapore is worth it after all!!

  3. Hi all, can anyone give me some advice. My wife is flying on a through ticket from London to Phuket on Thai with our 2 year old son in a few weeks, arriving in BKK with 2 hours to catch the connecting flight to Phuket. Does she have to go through immigration in Bangkok and then come back in again to continue her journey, in which case I can't see that 2 hours is long enough, or can she transfer and go through immigration in Phuket as Thai airways in UK are telling her. I am very confused and would be really grateful to anyone who can enlighten me (and calm my increasingly nervous wife!)

    Cheers,

  4. i don't understand why the police simply don't arrest Thamanat Pompao the owner of the new company as it is clear that he ordered the thugs to beat up the vendors and that he sent the bomber .... what do they have in the brain ? water?

I don't know what fascist dictatorship you come from, but in most civilised countries there must be some evidence of a crime no matter how "obvious" the situation. I don't understand why Thai people tolerate the abuse they receive on a daily basis in this forum. Come to Ireland and say something like "what do they have in the brain ? water?" and you'll get forty shades of <deleted> kicked out of you.

  5. Hi All,

For the first time I have booked a flight to Phuket rather than Bangkok. I travel with Emirates to BKK, then Thai to Phuket never leaving airside. Great.

But can anybody tell me what happens on the way back. Obviously not all passengers on the flight from Phuket will be in transit so do I check in as an international passenger at Phuket or do I have to check in again at BKK. Also what happens regarding departure taxes ?

Any information would be very helpful, many thanks.

  6. Thanks Charma, that's what I had thought until I read some of the airline websites which say that in some countries extra documentation may be required. Funny how I immediately thought of Thailand !

To complicate matters, my Thai wife will be travelling alone with our son, she has an Irish passport and my son, born in UK, a UK passport. Can anyone see any complications arising there??

And finally, if anyone has any advice on getting a 3 month old baby to pose for passport photos it woud be much appreciated !!

    Many thanks

  7. hi'

always something to complain about ...

add or change by hand the phone number or you customer will do it!

what are you afraid of, loosing customers?

seems to me to hear westerners in their home country!

    never satisfied!

    always something to complain about!

give Thailand a break, would you ...

    francois

I absolutely agree with you Francois. Why are all these farang losers in Thailand if they hate it so much. It seems to me many people using this forum should take a trip back home where all is not quite so rosy as they remember it.

  8. Just for the record...

Have just returned from 3 fantastic weeks in LOS using British passports.

On arrival at Don Muang we joined the Foreign Passports queue where we were greeted with a smile by a young officer who politely and efficiently checked our passports stamping us both in for 30 days without asking a single question.

On departure we were stamped out equally politely with only a comment that my wifes new style passport was very nice.

    All that worry for nothing!

Its the Brit Book from now on and if we want to stay longer longer we'll just get a visa.

    Regards,
