Hybrids are little more than gimmicks. Designed to give folks a warm fuzzy feeling they're doing something good for the environment whilst wearing it on their sleeve.

The things have twice circled the planet before they've turned a wheel and the additional weight from the storage cells does little to improve fuel efficiency by comparison to a well designed gasoline powered auto. Not to mention all the energy consumed to handle the expired storage cells.

Fuel cells (although in their infancy, are the way to go). Rapid advancements are now being made. Check out: the: Chevrolet Colorado ZH2. The future, defined by an American company.

Visited Home-Pro at the weekend. Replacement fan blades for various Hatari fans were available. Average price around 300THB. The price of a couple of (half decent) beers.

There's budgets and budgets I suppose. Each to their own.

The best way to balance fan blades is to remove material from the heavy blade. Not add it to the lighter blade. The added mass can come loose. Perhaps causing other issues.

If you're looking for capacities. Check the handbook. Your engine takes more than 8 litres so you most likely paid for 9. (2x4) +1. If you got Castrol Magnatech Professional, you paid the right price.

The stuff in the black bottle is injector cleaner. Not sure you actually need it every time, but I get it.

If you have insurance, get them to attend any negotiations and keep you advised. This soon after the accident is merely a shakedown exercise with the police and 'victims' since insurers easily take +30 days to settle even the most basic of claims.

If you have supplementary insurance, you're supposed to call them so they can attend the scene. Trying to save your 'no claims' can turn and bite you.

Edit:- looks like he didn't have supplementary insurance after all. Lucky he didn't damage something expensive like a Vanquish which costs 25 million and can't be repaired in Thailand.

Filtering sediment from your water does little to nothing producing safe water. You can make it "look" clean, but it changes nothing as to the chemicals, metals, VOC's, virus or bacteria you are ingesting. I suggest you take more important matters in hand concerning your water.

Those filters in the pic are simple fiber micro filters to remove particulate matter. Wasting your $$ there I'm afraid.

Totally agree that other smaller harmful contaminants wouldn't be screened out by just a sediment filter.

Also agree that filtering water should be done properly, or not at all.

Some companies will test your water to determine the type(s) of filtration needed. Some are free, others re-reimburse the cost upon purchases.

Nothing in that article states that a 30 lease is illegal by its self.. It's only possibly illegal when you have the 90 year extension structure.

A registered 30 lease is still secure.

As far as I am aware the maximum lease has always been 30 years. It has long been known that anything longer is not enforceable.

Agreed. There has never been any leases longer than 30 years. So offering a secured 90 year lease is a scam

Sorry, but you did not get the general idea: With a corporate structure to control the lessor by the lessees, the renewal term is secured. You can't protect the 90 years by lease rights, but by shareholding rights.

Which the court deemed to be an illegal breach of the Land Code.

Coming from Tak Global comes up on your right, perchance there's a gap in the central reservation right opposite the road you need to go down If you miss it you will have to go to the Traffic lights a couple of KM and do a U turn. Hope to see you for Coffees.

I don't know of the Tak Beef market some info on that, where and what do they sell yes I know it's Beef what sort of cuts size etc would be a help.

The place is called 'Tak Beef co-op' and yes they sell beef. You can get most popular cuts if you know the Thai names. I remember there being a butchers diagram with pictorial views of the various cuts, so if you know your beef you can just point at the diagram.

The beef is fresh or frozen. It's better to phone an order through if you want fresh as they don't have it every day and what isn't sold on the day gets frozen Last time I got; chuck rib eye and filet mignon. I rest the beef for between 10 and 20 days before cooking or freezing. One woman spoke some English but she usually wasn't the person who answered the phone.

You'll find the place easily enough. Just drive to Tak and turn right on Hwy 12 (going to Sukhothai). I'm not sure about the distance but the place is on the right just after the point where the road widens. You'll see a large concrete Hereford at the entrance. If you get as far as the main gate to the infantry barracks (on the left), you've gone too far.

There used to be a restaurant on the road out to Lampang which sold their beef, but that closed down more than a year ago. It wasn't very good anyway, so no great loss. That was the last time we visited the co-op.

I was up there yesterday going up and down the route 12 looking for the damn place, u turning every so often.

I even went to the TAT office and they rang up for me and explained it. I tried a couple more times and called the office as well.

The lady took my number and somebody called me in a couple of minutes and I tried to follow her instructions but I was still unable to find it then the call dropped. I called back and got somebody else who spoke better English but wouldn't stop rabbiting on so I pulled up at one of the gates to the infantry regiment and spoke to the duty MP who put me to somebody else. The 2 Thais spoke and then the army guy pulled me forward and pointed to the big orange building across the road and that was the place.

I didn't buy anything but took some photos and posted some info here. When I found it the two young ladies were very nice and helpful.

The big problem was no cows.

Hardly a just reward for a valiant and determined effort. Had a similar 'availability' problem a few years back and now never make a specific journey without a confirmation. You're right about the sizes, but they will cut and repackage larger cuts into more user friendly sizes. Even if frozen. I'm pretty sure their expectation is that you'll buy the whole piece though.

Last time I went, we bought; 5kg chuck, 12kg rib-eye and 6kg T-bone with a few other bits. All fresh, but exempting the chuck I cut them in to more useable sizes. All needed ageing though, which I did myself.

Wish I could give you a future guaranteed date for your purchase, if you wanted to try again. If I could, it wouldn't be Thailand though. Would it!

Plumbing isn't exactly rocket science, and any experienced contractor should understand what's needed just fine. Has your building contractor asked for help here? If so, you might want to start considering everything else he might not be able to do, and look for someone else

It could indeed be classified as rocket science if pipe runs (particularly drainage) are expected to defy gravity.

A comment based on empirical data in Thailand.

There's statistics and personal opinion. Some use a particular statistic (or grouping) to argue their particular cause.

In the real world, there are justifications for both high and low speeds. Both taken to extremes can create problems for the rider/driver and others they encounter on the roads (or even tracks). Experience is the key factor, however gained. Some of mine came from pain and gravel rash. Not a recommendation (other than to avoid) but it teaches you a few survival skills. Not something you learn clad in cotton wool.

There are venues here and in other countries where you can gain experience without the pain (hopefully) and more use of these facilities would be beneficial, Although it's an .added stricture, it has to be better than a pro-active action to eliminate bikes from the road as happened in nanny states.

Having said that, if you serviced the bike earlier than proscribed, the next date stated is the periodicity from that particular mileage.

For what any extra servicing costs, does it really matter? It's peanuts.

If you're concerned about warranty issues, use an outside provider and don't stamp the book for any interim maintenance you may want. After all, what does it state in your handbook.

Some may claim that you're being screwed, but periodicity based on time is also an issue.

As a holiday destination it's pretty innocuous. As safe as anywhere in Thailand and safer than some places.

Living there is a little different if you own property. It's the only place we have property where we regularly hear about break-ins and the only place where some-one tried to enter our house. Physical attacks are rare though. Even the murder of a couple about three years ago.

For getting around Bangkok I'd recommend using public transport. Travelling by BTS along Sukhumvit is quicker than driving most of the time and taxi drivers have local knowledge of shortcuts and places to avoid at particular times.

Renting a car for your trips to Hua Hin and Issan is a good idea. It will give you more personal freedom of choice and be a worthwhile experience. Use a known company such as; Budget or Thai Car Rent and avoid the back street renters. Renting a dash-mounted GPS might be a useful too.

Lived in Boston in the US. Wonderful place as is Berlin before and after the wall. Thailand is number 1. Something spiritual about this place. UK is the worst place I have lived.

May depend upon which side of the wall you were on. Agree with you about life in UK though. I left when it began to emulate East Berlin.

Never had the need to heat any home in Thailand. Even Chiang Mai. It just doesn't get cold enough.
