  1. Ok I am married to an English Girl, have a child and live part of the year in Thailand and part of the year in the UK.

I have fallen in love with a Thai Girl, the problem is she is only 16 years old. I have been very respectful, no hanky panky, but I cant stop thinking about her.

Can I divorce my Wife in Thailand or do I need to go back to the UK to do it.

Things are a little messed up in my head at the moment.

  2. Ok I know this topic has been done to death, resurrected and killed off in a sequel. But...

I think People from the European Union should know where they stand when driving in Thailand.

EU Nationals (British Citizens) in my case, must carry with them 5 items when driving in Thailand to be legal.

    1) Passport (All Foreigners are required by law to carry their Passports with them at all times). Dont Argue, I have checked and rechecked this one.

    2) Full UK/EU Driving licence in date with at least 12 months prior to expiry. This must be the Photocard licence with counterpart, not the old type with no photo.

    3) International Driving Permit (Available from any UK Post Office). It is a legal requirement in Thailand. Just showing your driving licence isnt enough

4)You must have proof that you are entitled to drive the vehicle such as Hire car, bought car with insurances and taxes paid etc.

    5) Your car must be fitted with licence plates ( I dont know much about this last requirement, but if you drive a Chiang Mai car in Krabi or vice versa, your asking for trouble, although legal).

I always keep around 5000 thb in reach in case of any awkward Police questions.

The Golden Rule: NEVER, EVER DRINK DRIVE IN THAILAND. FORGET THE POLICE, YOU WILL NOT MANAGE TO DRIVE ON THE INCOMPREHENSIBLE THAI ROAD SYSTEMS.

  3. Thanks for the advice guys, but only Homeownership has given a positive ID. Researching the Malayan Pit Viper I found a good snake site by a Vern Lovic. Some of his youtube videos are worth watching.

I never approach any snake and having seen 11 cobras (some dead) 3 Kraits, pythons and hundreds of others in 15 years, I've learned to show these critters a lot of respect & space. Just happy this latest one was in my friend's house and not mine.

    Muchos Gracias

  4. I suffer from a chronic illness called Hypothyrodia (Under Active Thyroid). It is in the final stages of disintegration and very painful.

I went to my Local NHS GP (Doctor) in the UK and was prescribed Codeine Phosphate for the pain as it was the only pain killer that helped.

I have done some research before my trip to Thailand next on July 20th and it seems Codeine is a controlled substance, bringing it into the country even with a prescription can get you many years in prison.

I am in desperate need of information.

Has anyone brought a legitimate codeine medication into Thailand or am I best just not bringing it at all.

This is a very serious matter, I do not want to spend the next 20 years in a Thai Jail.

    Official sources contradict each other.

At the present moment I am saying to myself: Warning : Do not bring Codeine into Thailand. Am i overreacting ???

  5. Calloselasma rhodostoma (Malayan Pit Viper)
    Thai: ThaiSnakeName-57.gif (ngu gap pha)

    Length: Up to 100 cm

Distribution: Resident in the whole of Thailand and is often found under dry leaves, stones or old wood.

    Behaviour:
Predominantly nocturnal especially when it is drizzling, but also active during the day. It bites, is an aggressive snake and advances very quickly.

  6. suffer ?

I too live here and nothing has changed but if you quit that easily maybe Thailand is not for you.

    Yet !

    Yet ?

You are definitely a newbie to Thailand.

Yes I am a newbie and proud of it, no old timer here. I am the neotraveller. Don't give a sh1t generation, take what I want, when I want and leave the rest and if it all goes sour, then go elsewhere for the time being.

  7. Thanks for reminding me Spoonman, I will get one when I come back. Details details.

Whoops my bad. did not mean to expose your illegal work activities.

The term "work" is a little strong, more of a hobby really.

Yet you mentioned work 3 times in your OP.

But of course, my Wife does Housework, My children do Homework. while I well Hobby, I leave the work to minions like your dear self.

  8. I have been told my Proxy Server might be shutdown, it took ages to connect last night. If I cannot use a proxy server, I cannot work.

If one cannot work, one must go to a place, where one can work. Back to the UK

I do not comment on Political issues, I only believe that when I return on the 20th July, the late unpleasantness has been resolved.

  9. UKIP - United Kingdom Independence Party

I was speaking to one of the European Candidates today about their policies should they do well in the European Elections next week. He was saying their job if they win is to basically be a real fly in the ointment, they know theres not much they can do by themselves.

He went on to say, if they do well in the National Elections next year, they hope to form a government coalition with either Conservative or Labour, as both parties are not against a referendum on membership of the European Union.

He said if we can control migrants from the EU, then we will bring in a rationing system, where a certain number of citizens are allowed in from various countries, there will also be free passes for spouses that are genuinely married or who can prove they have co-habitated for a significant period of time (3 years say).

While we have uncontrolled immigration from Europe, we cannot begin to even start to address genuine cases from overseas.

I asked him, if we could get married to a Thai Girl for 3 years and bring her to the UK for permanent residency ? He said, its seems entirely reasonable to assume that. WINK !!!
