  1. Don't wai anyone, it's not your custom.

    PS

I don't kneel in the gutter with my shoes off in front of monks ....... it's not my custom.

My thoughts exactly. I mean how am I supposed to wai back at the nice women in Tesco's with four shopping bags in my hand?

  2. You might like to look up the Buddy hotel in Lamai? It's in a good location where you can walk to the beach/shops ect, or grab a baht truck round the island. Prices were resonable last time I checked in person, but you might get a good deal online? A well travelled friend of mine stayed there a couple of years ago and he loved it. You can also rent a jeep pretty cheap just up the road from there.

I almost forgot... There is a vegatarian restaraunt/hotel/spa accross the road from Buddys hotel that was once listed in the top 10 restaraunts in the world, that has excellent food and affordable prices.

  3. It's amazing how the anger gets turned on. My ex stormed off and left me stood on my own, in Pratinum market (BK) once, because she thought I was not going to buy her anything.

Her logic was 'What's the point of going shopping if your not going to buy anything'. I was actually having a look round first, like a normal shopper would.

On the bright side.....It sounds like you managed to avoid walking past any jewelry shops.

  4. If she wants 10k a month now, how much is she going to demand after you get married? Infact I would love to know how much the dowry is going to be.

I was in your position 4 years ago, before I got married, and I ended up giving my now ex-wife 5k a month, but only because she gave up her job and had to support her son back in the village. This was on top of me paying all the bills and spending money ect. After getting married, things got worse, and no matter how much I spent, or gave her, it was never enough. She always went on about how her friends were getting more money/gold than her.

  5. Interesting to hear what the organised Visa run is like, as I have only ever done this on my own.

Highly recommended by the sounds of it. Last time I went I could not take my car accross the border (no numberplates) so I had to do everything by taxi, and they can be hard to find outside the casino when you need one, & expensive. I ended up having to walk up to the main road to get a tuk tuk which took 20 mins.
