  1. Looking to buy an office carpet and fitted. Been on the Phuket Gazette website yellow pages and it didn't even cme up with single sausage. Any ideas where there is a good stall. I'm near Tesco, they sell but don't fit the carpet for you. Any ideas would be great.

    Thanks

  2. Last week, my 16 month old flat panel LCD monitor decided to quit. I made sure it wasn’t the PC, by hooking it up to my lap-top. Out of warrantee of course, but Takuapa had a place where I buy my computer supplies, printer ink refills, paper etcetera, who’s employees insisted they could repair it.

Judging form past experience, I won’t hold my breath. They were nice enough though to lend (or rent) me a CRT monitor to use in the meanwhile.

To backtrack 20 months: Water cooler, 1 month old, no send in warrantee, no fix.

New washing machine, waiting for parts after 3 months was claimed by the tsunami. “So solly.”

Second washing machine under warrantee was ignored by dealer and repaired by yours truly.

Air conditioner of new Mitsubishi truck with less than 15,000 km, “No have” was the stock answer and cost me around 20,000 Baht to have it repaired elsewhere.

Dear old TOT lost my ADSL connection last Thursday. A trip to the ghoul of TOThood in Takuapa was in order. Trying to explain my problem to her, all I got was an icy stare and something mumbled to her co-worker. I only understood Farang and America. Yes, we Americans are a pain in the ass, but we are good tippers. (so I hear from the local folk) But when we pay for something, we want our money’s worth. But she did hand me a telephone number. Well, it wasn’t exactly the final solution, but another number connected me to repair service. This lady did understand English though and asked if my telephone was working. “Yes darling, no problem with the telephone, just ADSL is out.” “OK, I will call engineer”. I wasn’t going to hold my breath and after 3 hours of still no ADSL I purchased a weird looking “Nimungkorn??” 250 hour 1222 number unlimited ISP thing. Since I am very , very computer un-savvy, it took me a while to get the darn thing installed.. OK, dragon (was the picture on their envelope, or was it a Trojan horse ?) Let her rip.

NO DIAL TONE !!! What ?? Sure enough, now the phone was deader than the proverbial door knob.

Calling back the last number, the lady told me: “Sorry the engineer made a mistake, you will have your telephone line back soon”. :o

By this time it was 16:45 Friday afternoon and I know that these people do not work on weekends. Sure enough, at 17:00 the engineer probably locked up shop, went to have a beer with his chums and I had nothing until Monday afternoon. :D

But at least, it ain’t cold here.

  3. Have been involved in organisation of the last 3 year's Kings Cup regatta's here on Phuket. Just wondering if there are any sailor's on the forum who will be taking part in the races or attending the festivities. Come in sailors!!!  :o

    Is this Kerrie from Pimex????

  4. In regards to the Tandoor, I have often thought about making one myself - Would be interested to know if restaurant owners buy or get them custom made.

Let me know if you are serious about building a Tandoor Oven.

Construction material is as follows; Sand 40% , Broken / smashed Glass 30%

Horse or Camel hair 10% and last but not least Salt 20%

Salt has a high heat retaining property.

Horse or Camel hair is like the ribbing in a building hold everything together.

Horse or Camel hair 10% !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I always wondered why I'm a fast runner to the toilet in the morning after a curry the night before.

  5. Raju the owner of Indiana was kashmir's Chef yes. Does he have a Tandoor Oven,

WELL you've seen it you say.......must have some sort of Cloaking device.

A Tandoor oven (an Average size One) is about 1.5M x 1.5m x 1.5M. If you have seen anything like this in his kitchen I must be going blind cause i was there 5 days ago. He had a charcoal oven but certainly NOT a Tandoor Oven. There is a difference. The food taste will let you know the difference......BUT certainly better than a 'grilled' tandoori chicken like in the Kashmir.... :o

Ok fella, will check out his oven next time I'm up there. By the way you say he only has a charcoal oven, how is a tandoor oven heated?

  7. Funny you mention the Kashmir in Laguna entrance not using an tandoori oven, 2 doors down is the Indiana which is run by the Indian chef who worked at Kashmir, and he has a tandoori oven as I've been in his kitchen and seen it being used.

  8. Family holidaymakers will be falling over each other at travel agents to book up a Phuket holiday, I've been holding off this topic for a while, but sorry I think it's wrong to be held here after what we've been through.

  9. A good curry house I've tried twice is in Laguna entrance called Indiana the chef used to work next door in Kasmir and left and has opened up 2 doors past the Kashmir, a friend of mine also tried out the Indiana and was well impressed

  10. Walk out of the terminal and across the car-park. They are located next to the exit.

There is a 100 baht surcharge on top of the meter fare.

And they are much cheaper than the limos and take you directly where you want to go.

If I was to get a limo home from the airport it costs me 400 baht, the meter taxi costs roughly 300 baht for the same trip
