You can't teach a non-native speaker to be a native speaker.

I was in Thailand recently, with my Thai wife, to sign a couple of documents so I have no claim on her little house and piece of farmland. I hadn't visited for 5 years and thought the fingerprinting was OTT. I won't be rushing back.

I wonder who leaked this story: <link removed because it leads to text in violation of forum rules>

I used to be quite keen to visit Thailand and was nearly ready to live there with my Thai wife, but times change. I now prefer to stay in the UK with the possibility of living in France. And I now prefer it if my wife makes trips home without me.

A small point I know but that's an extension of 31 days, not 30.

The golden goose might not have been killed yet but I dare say he's a bit more wary these days. This was part of the reason I didn't accompany my wife on her recent trip home, so that was one tourist less at Xmas and NY.

My Thai wife is visiting home for a month soon without me, I prefer not to go as things are at present.

I don't think you ever get over something like this, all you can hope for is to learn to live with it.

It must have been a very hard decision to make the funeral a party. I hope it has in some way helped with their pain. Lets hope they get the closure they so deserve.

I don't believe these two young men are guilty for a moment. The whole thing looks like a crude cover-up that is fooling no one. But what it is doing I suspect is making a lot of people think twice before visiting Thailand (again), me included, and that can only result in a loss of tourism income. And I have to say that I am very concerned as to what might happen to two apparent scapegoats. Not good, not good at all.

I would like to see it made compulsory for seatbelts to be fitted in ALL taxis for passengers' use.

On a road with no footpath it is basic road safety to walk facing oncoming traffic.

I believe that Thai nationals withdrawing from a Thai bank account at a ATM pay next to nothing. On Xmas Day (sic) I opened an account with SCB, it was easy. When I next go to Thailand I will try sending one large amount to my account there so that I too can avoid those irritating 150 or 180 baht fees.

This might be useful for the tractors for the spaghetti harvest.

My Thai wife's Thai cooking was putting weight on me, so last September, at age 60, I decided to take action: smaller portions, only one main meal each day not two, and I took up running. In April I'm doing the London Marathon, albeit slowly. I have now lost over a stone so I'm about 74 kg and 5'11". I hope to lose another kg or two in the next 6 weeks.
I keep spelling it out to my wife that I want to be slim, it is so easy to turn into a couch potato.
When I was last in Bangkok I walked a lot, it can be done but wear comfy shoes, e.g. good lightweight running shoes.

What exactly is asbestos?

A simple measure that I would like to see is making it compulsory for seatbelts to be fitted and USABLE in all taxis.

As the UK is making immigration so difficult for Thais (and all other non-EU citizens) is it any wonder that Thailand is responding in kind?

Since when was it illegal to be an asylum-seeker?

I have a rescue Dalmatian that is scarred and very severely traumatised due to a vile rotter (Rottweiler) attack, she reacts very badly to other dogs and I don't think that will ever stop. A small child has no chance if one of those dogs turns nasty.
