  1. Hi All,

I just joined this forum a few days ago but did not remember where I got this link. :-) It's been time that I did not join a discussion forum. The first and last one was soc.culture.thai newsgroup. That was quite a long time ago when www had not been widespread.

    Anyway, cheers!

  2. For 2500 baht, it sounds like a pretty big sign..

One was 1 meter square the other 3/4 meter square, both now going very cheap.

I only wish there was a sound tax, too
Could not agree more how about 100 baht per decibel above a reasonable level i.e. a level thats leaves the fillings in your teeth intact.

Then, tax for 1.75 sq.m. should be 1,400 baht, not 2,500.

  3. :o  Why, when one goes to a Thai restaurant, possibly with a new g/f, do they invariably serve the meals 15 minutes apart? it's so stupid to leave one or the other sitting watching the other eat. This would never happen in a european retaurant. I just don't understand the mentality of it. Is it just me or does anyone else experience this?  :D

    Sorry, I don't get it.

Was it 15 minutes apart from when order taken or from plate to plate that you ordered?

  4. Congratulations katana and Wekhin for working out what  he did. But I don't think that's what most people mean when they talk about writing in Thai! :o

Well, a language converter has hardly worked up to a reliable level yet.

What most people mean, may I ask?

    is it readable ? :o

    Does this converter function ?

If so let me know because I do not understand this.

    Regards, jonik

    AMAZING !!

It worked down right perfectly on my screen.

It even corrected misspelling and capital letters.

    Wanna buy my monitor?

  6. The security guards always seem to know a maid or two that need work  :D

Well, thats where we got ours from anyway, and for 8 hours a day/7 days a week for 4k baht, she does a really good job too!!!

133 baht a day. Is that even legal? :o

it ends up quite a bit more than that when you add up the tips and food etc, but she earns a lot more than her tuktuk driver hubby.

The reason that minimum wage is not strictly enforced on domestic work may be because the nature and work load of domestic work is different from business or factory work. So, the demand and supply rules play the role here. If a maid has to work under a very demanding situation like a factory worker, she may not do it for 4K.
