  1. Attracted by their monthly payment scheme (ie not requiring a year's contract as 3BB do), I used Sinet's basic connection in my condo for a couple of months but it was slow (often down to 1Mbps), so I upgraded to their fibre optic connection for a couple of months. Initially that was fast (30Mbps), but then slowed right down (5-10Mbps) and has been up and down ever since, with occasional outages (one 24 hours, one 4 days).

What is more annoying to me is that, now I have stopped using it, they keep sending me demands for further payment by SMS text but do not accept replies, nor do their previous text numbers work, nor does the current 1147 text address work (for me), nor does their Line address work (for me), and their website doesn't have a working English version ! So much for a communications company.

  2. I saw this on another part of TV - could be a worry for us - perhaps we should have a friendly chat with our local police to avoid any shocks later -

Also, I talked to Jeckells Sails in the UK - they make the sails for my Drascombe Lugger - very satisfactory - rough price in tan for the 3-piece set for the Caledonian Yawl is GBP800 delivered in UK. They have the drawings already.

I have those 'cup' type grease thingies ( technical term, sorry) on a Thai style mower/brush clearer.

The way to use them is to fill the fixed part and the screw on part completely with grease. Offer up the removable top and screw it on . The screwing motion compresses the grease and forces it into the bearing. Not the same pressure as a grease gun but works for me, you can see the grease oozing out after the bearing.

Nice solution with the nipple though.

Taking that a stage further - with that kind of fitting, you probably need to screw it closed then refill and do it again several times to push the grease initially where you want it to be - then regular maintenance is to screw it in a couple of turns every so often - such as every hour of running - and when the screw bottoms out, refill the fitting and start again.

    Hope that helps.

  4. Hi - this is really interesting - my plan was to import my Drascombe Lugger from England on its trailer (minus outboard to avoid excessive import tax) - but building locally would be more fun. I'm a practical guy, but my workshop is here in the UK :-(

I'll be back in CM in November, living near 700-year Stadium for the winter. I look forward to meeting up with you.

Can you source a swing-cradle trailer in Thailand for the Caledonia Yawl ? (That's what we all use for Drascombes, and it transforms the trailer-sailer experience).

I'll need a tow-hitch fitted to my Fortuner too - any clues for me on where to get that done ?

    John
