  1. I am posting this for a friend

    Thanks for any help.

Does anyone have any information on obtaining an "import permit from the FBA"?

I take a medication that is not available here an needs to be shipped to me via Fed Ex from the states. However, the provider of the med has told me that the medicine will be held in customs if I do not have this permit. I do not know what this permit is and would appreciate any information regarding and how to obtain.

    Thanks,

It's FDA not FBA and if the drug is not approved for use in Thailand, you won't be abletoget a permit. If it IS approved, it willstillbe an enormous hassle and delay.

This can all be avoided by avoiding Federal Express, which is absolutely the WORST way to ship anything to Thailand. Fed Ex is awful about customs matters.

Unless it has to be kept chilled, send it by ordinary air mail. But before going to all this trouble, are you really sureit's not available here? A number of very new drugs not available in pharmacies are available in the better hospitals here. For that matter, thereare a number of drugs that can be bought at pharmacies butonly from a registered pharmacist which most "drug stores"don't have...and when you ask the later for these drugs more often than not they simply say iti unavailale when in fact itis, at a pharmacy with a real pharmacist.

If you PM me with the nameof the drug I may be able to tell you more.

    Sheryl,

Thanks for the help I will pass it along

  2. Since  Thaksin take  the office  too much rules  are changed in Thailand , especially the immigration rules.

For marriage visa from 200.000 k he move it, to  400.000 k ,  visa fee from  500 baht, to 1900 bath etc…

I think he like only those people have a very big amount money ,but  if you have only few  amount of money you non qualified for live in Thailand.

    Big Money = Good People

    Low Money = Bad People

That's his line of thinking anyway...

That being said I would be considered a piece of shit :o:D

  4. Before you commit to a package try the bundled WAP browser on a gprs phone on the same network and try loading some pages in it to get an idea of speed. I've heard alot of speed complaints from gprs users.

Are we talking about the same thing here it is the wireless gprs set up for my lap top they clam it is the fasts gprs system avaliable 40 to 60 kbps (new) or have I just been cond out of 9900bht.

    :o:D

  5. Is it?  I can buy knock-off film DVD's here for 80-100 baht and I have even bought "Original" films for 49 baht, box and all - Thats much cheaper than I can buy a blank DVD-R for.

How much are Films in Malaysia?

Your buying them at the wrong place at IT center in Pattaya if you buy 100 Pcs 10 cents a piece if under 100 Pcs 12 cents they are DVD- 4 x I have used about 35 of them and have not had a bad one

  6. Brought my XBox from the US and bought a new power brick that plugs directly into the Box.  Works like a charm!  1st floor Pantip, towards the back is a game shop, forgot the name though.  But if U walk into Pantip via the front entrance, keep walking towards the down escalators on your left (not the one right in front of the entrance that goes to the 3rd floor).  Walk past the escalator and to the back, take the stairs down and it should be in front of U.  Do you have an XBox Live Gamer Tag?  I'm trying to find local Live gamers here in LOS.

I brought a DVD player from the states I did not want to dick around with a 110 to 220 converter. The TG I live with took it to a small fix all shop down the soi and he converted it to 220 so no converter needed 250 Baht and plays no problems

Maybe a shop could do the same for your unit ?

  7. I have a hard time figuring out when/where/why your friend would have been talking with immigration about extension of stay requirements.  If at Hull that is not immigration and if he here on a multi O he would not have any reason to be talking with immigration in Thailand.

    Lop,

Question I can not answer can only relay what was said to me in regard to hull not being Immigration can't say there either

I am here on an O and I went to Immigration to speak with them regarding the extension for retirement why is that so unusual

I assume he wanted to get the Information for future reference as did I.

You said he just arrived so would not expect that to be the first thing on his mind and the fact he asked for a multi O would indicate he had not immediate intent to extend.

    Lop,

Makes perfect sense now the reason for him going down to Imm on Soi 8 so soon was they stamped him in for 30 days instead of the 90 it should have been when he arrived at DM airport. He went in to have them correct the date.

  9. I indeed hope this is not the case I have a friend that just arrived in Pattaya on a 1 year Multi entry O visa Issued at Hull he told them reason for coming to prepare for retirement. He was issued the Visa no problem but when he inquired about the 800,000 Baht need to get the 1 year extension (Retirement Visa ) the man at Imm told him as of the first of the year this amount may change to 1.6 M Baht and was also told 400,000 to 800,000 if married to a thai. I heard this second hand so do not shoot the messenger Has anybody else heard this ?

  10. I have never dealt with Houston but have great luck with Denver as Hereforgood just rec'd his 1 year Multy entry O visa with no problems. There was talk that they were going to stop processing this type of Visa in Denver Oct 1st but that's not the case as I had a friend call Jan at the Denver Consual and she said it is business as usual.

    Here is the Info.

Also the Email I got from Jen when I questioned her about this visa

I Sent My request to the Denver Thai Consul and before I sent it I sent an email to the Counsel assistant and told her that I wanted a 1 year Multiple Entry Visa and this was her reply

I will need the following to process your Visa request

    - Passport

    - Visa Application

    - 1 Passport Photo

    - Money Order for $125 made payable to DW Ringsby

    - If applying by mail, a SASE (Express Mail preferred)

You can download the application form at www.thaiembdc.org.

Note she asked for no Letter From a Thai Company so I sent it off yesterday. I have had friends get this visa from the Denver office with out a problem.
