was shot in the face by a man described as European

    By a European.....

Just wondering where this european could have learned the behaviour from? alt=whistling.gif>

That is not in the story!

Witnesses have told police what happened.

The honourable Mr. Alexandar refused to speak to the police.

Sounds fishy to me. Mafiosi don't talk.

This was probably just a warning shot.

Another case for the TV desktop detectives, any more clues so far? I have my magnifying glass and pencil ready to investigate thumbsup.gif

Yes dr Watson, we already established that he is Russian, or not. But is definitely a "quality tourist". The guys that shot him looked European, therefore we can conclude this is a mafia related incident.

The KGB sent a hit an too kill this poor Brit because he may kinda look Russian, or his name sorta, but not really sounds Russian.

    Okay! Case closed.

  2. Terrible story, the poor little boy. I guess he and his father lived a quite life and pretty much kept to themselves. I hope English relatives come forward and offer the little guy a real chance in life.

Must have missed it somewhere! Where did it say the father was English? Racism is a funny thing: it's much closer to home than you think!

The original article does describe him as "British". That's close enough, isn't it?

If one is too lazy to read the 3 paragraphs...

They also have a pic of the guy... He looks Caucasian.

  3. Thais were found to be the fourth hardest drinkers at 4.5 shots per week, closely trailing behind South Korea, Russia, and the Philippines.

Russians don't drink more than Thais. 100% bullshit.

Because you have many Thai male friends and many Russian friends and know both worlds intimately?

So many experts here on international drinking. Go figure!

  4. This is under the topic of "Road Rage," at Songkrat.

Do the roads really get angry and cause bus-drivers to fly from it, into tress, drunkenly killing passengers?

Maybe they need to use a non-Buddhist pavement?

I wonder if the same thing kills students in American schools, when the gun of a Riddlin using liberal suddenly forces itself into some poor helpless sap's hands and takes over his Obama-dong schlarving brain and orders him to kill helpless children?

Has UCLA or Yale done any studies on this? Maybe they can use left-over funding from the global warming hoax? There has to be SOME thing we can do, as socialist commie leaning brain-dead twerps, to promote this!

    Occupy Pavement!

Oooops. Did you say Cambodians? Sorry. My bad.

Obama brainwashed, ridilin eating, global warming hoaxing, socialist, commie Cambodians are forcing Thais to crash their cars? I'll have 2 of whatever you are having! I bet its catamine. Did they slip that to you instead of your normal yaba?

In any case. Reckless driving does seem to go along with Mai pen rai attitude. I can't say I seen the neighbors do any better. In fact here in Asia only Singapore and Japan had any sort of order as far as I saw.

  5. "Study hours for Thai students are five times more than countries such as the US and Canada where students spend 600-700 hours in classes while Thai students 2,000-3,600 hours."

    Lets look:

    52 Weeks have a year.

    12 weeks are vacation

    40 weeks lectures * 5 days a week = 200 days

3600 / 200 = 18 hours per day spend in classes (from 8am morning to 2am after midnight)

    2000 / 200 = 10 hours per day spend in classes (from 8am morning to 6pm)

average = 14 hours per day spend in classes (from 8am morning to 10pm)

average = 70 hours per week.

I do not know what they are doing in the classes, but I doubt the data base and the validity of data collection too.

In Ramkhamhaeng (the largest university in Bangkok) and generally in Bangkok,i see every day oodles of students on the streets,

    - shopping, in cinemas, in restaurants and in the evening in discos and pubs.-

No way that they study day per day, spending 14 hours in classes.

20% of State Budget for education?

If this is true, than we have here maybe another rice school scam.

I taught a class at one of the "better" private schools in bkk... Believe me when I tell you this... They don't spend one hour out of the classroom studying. We were officially forbidden to give homework all the work was to be done in class. They had the nerve to try and do their other homework in my class, at that moment they were usually asked to leave the class and marked absent for the day.

  6. A man punches a prostitute for pretending to be a female in a seediest part of a third world country known for prostitution. Both are released with a small fine. No serious medical attention was required for either.

Thai visa members rage for 8+ pages about:

    Gay rights/hating gays

    Hating Russians/defending Russians

    Attacking Jews/defending Jews

    Transgender definitions.

It's amusing and all but seriously... A dude hit a dude for pretending to be a girl. Get over it, it's Pattaya. This is so banal.

  7. This guy sounds like a real failure "couldn't even top himself effectively"

And one has to question the IQ of the GF, her 35 and him 20. Maybe they are both failures

Perhaps they are well suited coffee1.gif

And one has to question the IQ of the GF, her 35 and him 20.

Wow an age difference. You may have just called into question the intelligence of 70% of TV regulars.

Didn't you know it's okay for a 65 year old fat foreigner to date a 18 year old in pattaya. But not the other way around. It's just creepy . clap2.gifcheesy.gifgiggle.gif

You must be a failure, when you think about that.

Or you must be 70 with a 16 year old gf to respond like that.

  8. I'm staggered. It has to be a joke. Are the planners in this city really so utterly stupid? Depressingly, oh so depressingly, I guess so. I've seen some stupid ideas in this city, in fact I see them every day, but this takes the cake. I tell you what: let's build elevated roads over every thoroughfare in Bangkok. Because that will allow more cars to travel around. Those roads will fill up, eventually, so then let's build more elevated roads on top of those. And then when those fill up, let's build tunnels. It's the only intelligent thing to do, eh?

The whole city will be a horrendous concrete jungle, but as long as the cars can keep moving, that's OK. Because cities are for cars. aren't they, not for people.

Ok arm chair urban planners of Bangkok... Whats your plan? So far all i hear is groaning.

Problem: too many cars, too few streets.

    Solution: more roads.

Thai visa members: whine whine whine. What do you propose?

Let me guess: less cars... Right. Next: more buses. Yep that will work... Helicopters? I am all ears.

  9. They should make the lanes as they did in NYC with a cement barrier. Cars can't invade it, and protects the riders. Now how to keep shopping booths from privatizing it is a tough one. I was biking along the canals and in places people privatized the canal paths. They were actually angry that i was on my bike there. One told me in proken English that i cannot go there. At which point i asked him to produce the land title for the pedestrian walk way he privatized. (In Thai) :D

  10. "Under an insurance policy taken out by the ferry owner, the financial compensation per death is up to Bt300,000, and medical coverage per victim is up to Bt115,000."

So if I had died on that boat my bereaved family (if I had one) would have received a sum equivalent to several weeks of my income when I was still working. Wow.

And if I had merely been injured I would have got my hospital bills paid up to an amount equivalent to two dental implants. Wow again.

But what annoys me most is that the boat captain will probably be carrying the can when it is the boat owners/operators who are responsible for the boat being overloaded, not having satisfactory insurance, not being maintained correctly or not having enough life-jackets.

Agreed. Captain has no choice over how many people they stuffed into that boat. Its the companies fault through and through.
