Hello everybody,
finally i used a fixer and paid a final cost of 22k for having 1 year POS (thai spouse) without financial proof. If there is anyone in my same situation here in hua hin who agrees to pay that money to solve the issue can send me a message privately, i will put him in contact with the Fixer.
I am careful with money, normally i would wait because i knew I still had the 60 days extension card to use. But on Wednesday i went to IO and casually met an agent, and i thought the cost wasn't that bad so i took the call and did the 1 year extension. It will start from the end of september which means I am ok for 13 months from now on more 2 with the extension on next year. I won't have to go to Laos, saving money for the visa multi entry, for the trip, and all the expense (accomodation food the beers and the somtam chicken combo nearby the Mekong which honestly will be missed).
Furthermore no border runs for a year so i will stay home instead of driving 7 hours to and from the Kanchanaburi border and save some more money (4 x 1500 baht).
Yes I could have waited but how do you know that those agent won't raise the price as the end of the amnesty approach? Once you wait til end of november and borders aren't going to reopen what are you going to do? Will the price for the same service be the same or even more expensive?
With 2 kids i wasn't in the position to take any risks. If borders will be reopened on time i will feel some regrets if not i ll be happier for sure lol
Thank you very much for your precious opionions and advices

My non O visa expired on feb 2020 and my 90 days on April 28. I have always relied on the amnesty because i read in here it was meant for everyone, tourists and expats. Now i am reading from someone it is meant for stranded tourists only lol i am confused (if not desperate)

if 60 days ago there was the amnesty as well why did you go for the 60 days extension?

so there are 2 reports here of foreigners in my same situation been told by IO that 60 days permission of stay will be granted again in case borders won't be opened again. Is there anyone else who has heard of similar reports that could confirm this tendency?
I am thinking to go ask myself the same in Hua Hin IO but also one good thing could be start a new thread here to see if there is more people confirming this thing....

You have window to obtain non o and annual extension.
I would do it in a blink.
such window will remain open until the 26th of sept right?
basically my decision is: apply for the 2 months extension or pay visit to an agent (fixer) before that date right?
-
I am a bit confused and 1st of all i would like to make sure i am still ok with my visa right now before even going to ask to immigration (Hua Hin in my case) or to an agent.
My visa expired on february current year. But i left the country some days before so i had the 90 days until the 28th of April.
Since that i did nothing else cause there has been the amnesty.
I still could use the card of the 60 days extension right?
So if i ll obtain the 60 days starting from sept 26 i'll be ok until nov 25.
If all i have said is correct why should i go visit an agent with almost 3 months left?
thanks

One option other than the 400k baht in the bank for 2 months there is the option to prove 40k baht income.
The income can be proven by a document from yoru embassy is issuing them. Or proof of transfers into the country from abroad.
40k baht income has to be proven by the company you work for that provides a document of the salary right? If so that is not a vaild option as well

Use an agent to cover the the money.
If over 50 the agent may prefer you obtain extension based on retirement.
I am 48. An agent cover the money means i have to borrow the amount from an agent? Do they provide that service?

hi everyone
i am with non-O visa and have not the 400k for the financial requirement to apply for 1 year permission of stay
for thai spouse. I always had my visa renewed in Savannakhet.
If I am not wrong i can ask for the 60 days extension of stay starting from Sept 26 that will make my position ok until Nov 25.
After that if border with Laos won't be open again (to go in and out), what are my options?I guess nobody has an answer but i'm asking it anyway cause i am clearly concerned since I have wife and 2 kids here
thanks- 2

I can't imagine how everyone going to renew their non o visa in the same time (start of august at the moment is the most probable date) can be a good thing. Certainly a 2 months extension could give everybody the freedom to choose a couple of days in that period to possibly avoid mass gathering while trying to complete the task

Hello,
nightmare: I am already on a non o visa and don't meet the financial requirement. I am going to apply for a 60 days extension as well in few days.
After that i have to pray that for the end of june a normal situation will be restored at borders with Laos or Vietnam in order to go for a visa run to Savannakhet (my usual destination for completing this task) or HCMC (it would be a 1st time).
So end of june....do you think odds are in my favor?
I would like to know if there are others in my same situation and how they are dealing with the uncertainty
thanks in advance

I didn't mean to do it now.
When does your visa expire?
You also have the option to get a 60 day extension if married to a Thai if needed.
my visa expired at the beginning of February so i made a border run just a few days before and now i am allowed to stay in the Kingdom until 28th of April. I could extend 2 months like suggested by you because you are right i have a non O with thai spouse but i live in Hua Hin and I am not sure Hua Hin local Immigration could do me such a "favour" (i was told they are not very farang friendly). Do you think they could? Because i am not going to Chaeng Wattana (i hate it)

If you get the visa in Savannakhet at this time you would not have a problem entering the country.
Only if you were arriving here from Italy would there be a problem.
I assume you going for a non-o visa. Just make sure you have everything needed to get it.
Best to do the trip to get the visa IMO.
thanks Ubonjoe
so you mean you would go now and wouldn't wait for the end of april right? (my 90 days report end on the 28th of april and i have already paid for flight and bus)
-
hello
i have scheduled my annual visa run to savannakhet at the end of april. Bought already a bus ticket and a flight ticket too.
Now with the recent outbreak of the covid-19 i am facing a great doubt : if it is better for me to anticipate
since right now everything seems working normal or wait.
Furthermore, being an italian citizen i am afraid there will be issues when re-entering Thailand from Laos (my last visit in Italy is dated May 2019).
Just not sure what the best option is: waiting or anticipating
What would you do in my place? -

Don't forget $1 for border crossing, maybe others who pay more than 30, don't get charged it, but I got charged with the Aussie passport 31US
Sent from my SM-G965F using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
border crossing?? this is totally new for me. Never paid the $1 for border crossing
so this could confirm that i had to pay $30 and not $35 as they never asked me the dollar for border crossing

I have seen this list:
According to this, Italy should be $30. Make sure you have clean, crisp US dollars. If you pay in Thai baht, it will cost much more.
like i said i have been there 5-6 times and i have always paid $35 but maybe it was me just paying $5 more. Yes i'll change in dollars just before leaving at Superich checking that notes have no defects
thank you

The Laos visa on arrival varies according to your nationality. The minimum is $30, the maximum $42. A very few nationalities can get a free visa exempt entry.
hi thanks for the info
do you know of a link where i could check this visa fee according to my italian nationality?

My travel notes
Sakhon Nakhon airport shared car to bus terminal 80 baht. 5km 5 min.
Sakhon Nakhon to Mudkahan 2 hours 80 baht by bus. Hourly busses. I never needed to wait more than 10-15 minutes.Bus from Mudkahan, through the immigrations on both countries, all the way to Savannakhet bus station was 45 baht. The trip takes perhaps an hour, including clearing the immigrations.
IIRC the border closes at 19:00.
hello
from Mukdahan to Sakon nakhon or Nakhon Phanom is there any bus? After picking up my passport at 2 pm and arrive in Mukdahan bus station i have plenty of time to go in one of those 2 close airports and i d like to avoid the minivan that the fly/ride service uses. I hate minivans. Flights are scheduled in late evening so i could use a more comfortable and relaxing bus from Mukdahan to airport if there is any in the afternoon...
any tip oilinki?

There is no need to apply for a visa for Myanmar to just cross the border and come back.
There is a office/booth just after departure immigration where you arrange for the trip across the border.
thank you very much
do you know if from the Khanchanaburi train station there is a transportation service to reach the border? Or do I need to get to the Khanchanaburi bus station first?
sorry if i ask but i am arriving at 10.45 am and have to get the only available train for returning to bangkok at 2.45 pm. So I have 4 hours time to do everything. It should be enough time but honestly this is my 1st time

The Ban Phu Nam Ron crossing is good for doing it. The fee is a total of 950 baht for transport across no mans land and back and that includes 500 baht baht for the Myanmar border pass.
I have seen no list of border crossings.
hi Ubonjoe
Myanmar border pass....do you mean there is no need to apply for a visa to Myanmar?
I am planning to arrive at Khanchanaburi by train from Bangkok. Then where do I find this service you mentioned that with 950 baht does all the job?
thanks in advance

Hi
for the 1st time in 9 years of non O visa (the Savannakhet Laos one) i had a problem yesterday at the IN/OUT Poi Pet/Aranyapratet border. When back in Thai the immigration questioned my way to do. They made me take a seat. An officer made me some general questions about me my family my address (i guess he was just checking if the family was real) and then asked me to talk to wife. He said my wife that I have to stop doing this way and go Chang Wattana.
Now my visa expires next february so my plan is to get a new passport and keep doing the IN/Out border run until next year.
Anyone experienced the same problem?
is this a worsening situation of PoiPet border only or is common in all check points thai borders?
Thanks for your time
Andrea
