  1. Hey chrispbacon....I arrived at this thread eager to peruse an abundance of replies, and excited to discover and ultimately experience many of the activities that I may have missed in my 6 years here in BKK.

That was the idea but as the old saying goes, "you can bring a horse to water but you can't make him drink!"

  2. My favorite is on central Pattaya road between soi Buakhao and 3rd road
on the north side. Family run and good quick service while you wait by
either the old parents or their son.

  3. The Atlanta - one of the original Vietnam-era hotels, apparently first in Bangkok with a swimming pool - won't even allow an older farang to enter the restaurant with his younger teerak much less go up to the rooms. And having a wedding certificate doesn't help, they just don't want their customers having to suffer such a disgusting sight. The old German proprietor (who I'm sure has now passed on) told some great stories about his work with US three-letter agencies in the good old post-war/cold war days.Excellent tutorials on Thai food ingredients in the restaurant's "long form" menus too BTW, good value food as well.

They had no problem with girls on at least 2 nights in 1981.

It was still run by the same family (Thai/German) up til recently. Not sure if Dr. Henn is still alive - he'd be in his 90s - but it was his son (educated at Cambridge, I believe) who instituted policies in the mid eighties to set the place apart from the other places in terms of perceived sleaze.

Nonsense, I dined with my sleazy bar girl friend over a weekend without anyone batting an eyelash.

  4. There's a badminton court on 3rd road near south Pattaya road called Diamond. It is not air conditioned but you can meet many people from the expat community. I used to be a member of the expat badminton facebook group. All this is run by Niels Colov of Pattaya People Media Group so I suggest you contact him for playing days. I believe Tuesday/Thursday at 19:30.

  5. She was a somewhat well known expat who was known I guess mostly for being photographed at many parties. I guess it's better to be known for something than nothing...thumbsup.gif. A little surprised there is no mention in the media so far with the paramedics and police making family albums pointing at the deceased. RIP Khris.

I dont like to ask but who was she...........?? Never heard of her before this thread.....??

Must admit I opened the thread thinking an Expat had died.
