In Thailand if you work paid or unpaid you need a work permit
Hi HullyGully, thanks a lot for your advice. I am quite wondering about how to define 'work'? eg. in some high level diving course, the trainee is required to assist & instruct other fresh divers during a actual trainning in order to be experinenced. So, his paying but not paid for the work. i guess this might also be a problem?

Immigration on Koh Samui will extend a Tourist Visa by 30 days.
You will not be able to work with a Tourist Visa.
i thought so.... seems i need to find someone who can provide the work permit....But i do find lots of people working there without a working visa....

Hi There,
Good day. I've been checking on this forum for some days & I really hope some experienced expert here can guide me for the next step of my life. Thanks in advance.
i have a Chinese passport & under the age of 30. i got a pretty good offer as a diving instructor at Koh Tao. however, the employer, like many employers on the island, can't provide a working permit nor working visa for me. On the other hand, i get no intention to get into a serious relation on the island for a marriage visa. The only thing I can get is a single entrance 60days T visa.
1# According to some posts, seems that I can extend this visa at Thailand for 30days more with 1900B. However, for most of the time, i will stay at Koh Tao, which is far far away from BKK. Is there somewhere close to the island that i can get this extention? What i need to apply for the extentioin?
2# what next after the 60days + 30days stay? Going back to China for a new T visa is way too expensive. However, i need a visa to get into Malaysia /Cambodia / Myanmar. So a border run is also not easy for me. Possible to get a Mal T visa @ Thai & then travel to Mal for a Thai visa then return?
i've been checking every possible ways & none of them seems workable.....but i really want this offer....
Any advice would be most appreciated...Any....
Thanks & regs
