  1. Sounds like a never ending story. Criminal Court convicts Santika Pub owner for the fire with a 3 year prison sentence. Owner bails and appeals and the Appeals Court overturns the conviction. Chapter 2, Santika Pub owner convicted by Criminal Court for tax evasion and sentenced to 1 year in prison. Owner's lawyer is asking for bail and appealing sentence to Appeals Court. A guess on the outcome?

  2. What does legitimacy have to do with paternity? I am the American father of a child with a Thai lady. I wish to have the child recognized as a US citizen. However, I have been seperated for 20 years but never officially divorced due to health insurance and tax reasons. The application for Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States states I have to provide proof of termination of any previous marriages.

Also, a person born abroad out-of-wedlock to a U.S. citizen father may acquire U.S. citizenship under Section 301(g) of the INA provided..... the person is legitimated under the law of his/her residence or domicile, What does this mean?
Has anyone faced the Embassy without proof of termination of previous marriages?
  3. And when it is time for you to take advantage of a Senior Citizen discount you will refuse it because of why? And I suppose you will refuse to pay a child's admission rate for your son because you want him treated as an adult? And you will refuse to go to a resturant that offers "children eat free" because you want to pay the same for everyone.

  4. I have watched him cure cancer, and many other life threatening diseases.

Please tell everyone where you received your medical degree and did your residency. What type of cancer did you witness being cured and what did it look like? How about listing some of the other diseases. These observations must take alot of your time with the patients. People like you keep the witch doctors in business.

  5. "The executive board has okayed Bt3.32 for compensation of patients who affected by medical errors"

Is this an acknowledgement that the delivery of health care is somehow not up to acceptable standards (like the death of a boy from dengue fever diagnosed with a peptic ulcer)? First, someone has to recognize malpractice and then second someone has to report it, both steps are unlikely. Also, the legal limit for compensation is only 400,000 baht for a death via malpractice and bodily harm rewards go down from there and takes years to litigate. This is a backhanded admittance of a country wide medical system of incompetent medical personnel.

  6. It's just a different form of tax. In western countries we pay the police a good wage and expect them to do a good job. But, it all comes out of our tax budget. In Thailand the police are paid a pittance of a wage and are expected to make up the difference in bribery. How many westerners enjoy paying $300 fines for driving 15 km over the speed limit on a wide open highway with little or no traffic? It happens all the time in the west. How many people like paying a $100 fine for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign... even if there is no traffic? It happens all the time in the west. If I come to a traffic line-up in Canada I have to wait in line if I'm on a motorbike. In Thailand I can go between the traffic to the head of the line. There is something to be said for both systems... both good and bad. In many ways I prefer the Thai way to the over regulated methods in the west. In North America we keep trying to make laws to prevent stupidity but it doesn't work.

Illegal driving by breaking a posted law and paying a fine is one thing regardless of how you feel about the law, making a payoff for legal driving in Thailand by innocent drivers is another. Many US States allow motorcycles passage between rows of cars, moving or not moving, especially California.

  7. Victim steps on foot of shooter and walks toward him and takes 4 shots to the head. Shooter must be good shot if victim on way down after first shot. Or shooter walks over to down victim and puts three more in his head. Was victim still a threat after first hit? Second hit? Third hit? Shooter deserves the death penalty.

  8. I have come over from America to see my Thai girlfriend for the last two years for 6 months each time. She happens to be the English teacher in a Kaen Dong school K-6 for the past 30 years and her English speaking and grammar are still poor, as is with all country Thai English teachers. Since I am here anyway we team up to teach her classes, I do the grammar and speaking and help with the rest which she mainly teaches in Thai. There is no way to teach English to Thai students without a Thai interpreter first. I have found nothing but enthusiastic students and respect among the teachers. I work for free and just walked right in to class. There may be 10000 baht per month somewhere, but you will never find it. I would suggest you get introduced to local English teachers until you find one that you could get along with to share teaching duties until you get some experience and then go out on your own through that connection. Most teachers and schools would welcome you.

  9. Being a government employee for 36 years I know that some regulations are followed all of the time and all regulations are followed some of the time. Therefore, either the Embassy does not care if the mother or father are single, do not ask the question (is that question asked on a form somewhere?), or accept not telling the truth by the applicant. It seems to me that a child is born to an American citizen and is entitled to citizenship, what does the marriage status of a parent have to do with it? Let's not go to America and see how many babies are citizens from outside a marriage.

  10. I have child with Thai woman and would like baby to have USA citizenship. However, still have legal marriage in US due to medical insurance need and tax reasons but have lived apart for 15 years. Regulation state "Proof of termination of any previous marriages, if any, in the form of divorce decree (original or certified copy) or death certificate (original or certified copy)". Is this a drop dead issue?
