Doubtful. But maybe "Sometimes" I guess.

The issue is them confirming a time/place for work, then flat out no-showing and not calling.

Arrange a time for workers, internet people, aircon service people etc. to come, plan your day to be there, and they don't come, or come extremely late, usually not calling either.

I mean I get it, I expect it, but everyone has jobs, responsibilities, and I don't know about anyone else but its very rare that I'm late for anything, and I never no-show if I confirm. Its not like its all that hard to time manage. They just don't care because its all about them, and who cares about the impact they have on others.

TIT of course, but its still frustrating sometimes.

I just give them my number and go about my daily things and when they are at the front gate they call as they cannot get in due to electric gate and walls. They then wait until I come back home and let them in. Have never had one drive off and they are more than happy to wait for me. That way there is no stress on either party and no grey hairs from the worry. Mai pen rai

  5. If they are perching on railings and such then you can spray the area with WD40. They hate the smell and will avoid the area. The WD40 is not harmful and the major ingredient of it is fish oil.

Yes your house can be in your name but not the land can it and if you are married the  lease you have is not worth shit on the land look it up no it all .

i am rich and smart to to put all my money in to a 3 Rd world country like you .

George I certainly hope you are not an Aussie. You are embarrassing. You are a blowhard probably with the seat out of your pants. People with money do not come onto TVF and blow their own horn. Go to the bank, withdraw some of your pension money and go back to your bar stool. Stop being a miserable old sod and giving Aussies a bad name.

  7. "Can anyone share their ideas on such a situation?"  Yes stop your whinging and stand outside front door for fresh air. It is his condo and he has the right to smoke out on the balcony. What makes you think you have more rights than him? This is SE Asia not farangland with their softcock laws. He obviously smokes on the balcony so as not to offend others inside his condo. Do you expect him to go down to the carpark every time he wants a smoke just so you can open your door? I do not believe some of you people sometimes. Live and let live. Other option is move but I am sure you will find others there that you will find offensive for some pitiful reason.

Correct etiquette is to not talk to people you don't know until  properly introduced by a mutual friend or family member. Have you never read Pride and Prejudice?

Just because you are lonely is no excuse to show bad manners.

And to only do it to those you feel share your racial background is despicable.

    Are you for real?

  9. Yes I belive in ghosts and to a certain extent black magic. I was brought up that way and I may add I bring my son up that way as well. I will not sleep in any room unless there is a budda figure in there. I will not travel in any form of transport unless I have my budda with me. We also throw a stone on roof of house every big budda day. Have I seen a ghost I don't know the answer to that who knows a ghost could be anything or anyone. I am thai that is my belief I'm not really bothered if you don't belive.

Good on you Jeab. It is your right to believe in what ever you want. Do not listen to these bitter whisky soaked miserable people. I do not believe as you do, but that is my right, same as yours to believe. If people worried how they lived life instead of what others believe or do then it would be a better world.

  10. All my family knows the 90% rule. Eat 90% or more of the dish or they pay for that dish. I have never rushed them to eat and always tell you can order more after you finish what you have already and it will be fresh and hot. I work month and month and we eat out probably 5 or 6 nights a week when I am home. Having said that it is only immediate family and occasionally a few friends. All know 90% rule 5555. Never a problem.

  11. If Thai people ever read Thai Visa you could surely understand their bitterness towards expats. I have never seen so many want to slag off the very people that allow them to reside in their country. It is absolutely disgusting. If I was in charge of this country I would be banging on the very doors of these bitter twisted people and their asses would be at Suvarnibhumi Airport faster than can say cheese. If you have such disdain for the people of Thailand then pack your bags and get out. I am not a "if you don't like it leave" person but if you do not like the people of your host country then what the hell are you doing here. Go somewhere else or keep all your bitterness to yourself. You probably lost your money to a prostitute and now bitter. That doesn't mean all Thai people are the same. When you leave don't slam the door on the way out. Be assured you will not be missed.

  12. Looking for an easy way to get a visa for my fiancée to visit Australia with me. We will only go for a week or 10 days. She has 2 businesses here, property and family. Should be sufficient proof she intends to leave the country after visiting? If she wanted to stay she would be by herself because I have no interest in staying back there 555. I know they make you jump through hoops but surely some one has found a less painful way to get the visa. Thanks TV

  13. Hold up, why should she change her name to suit the ignorant mindset of a westerner.

I'm sure it may make life difficult at times, but I have a similar problem with my surname.. most westerners cannot pronounce it correctly and get frustrated ..

I think your good wife should give the name she is happy with, and if ignoramuses have issue with that then it is their problem and not your wife's..

    +1 Mr. Tee

My wife is a สมพร, [appropriate (proper); suitable; well matched] - [blessing (gift, benediction)]

and she keeps it as Somporn. It is both a female and a male Thai name.

If some "official" pen pusher ever asked what kind of name is that? I would call for their supervisor and report unacceptable and their abusive behaviour.

I would not enter any discourse with the "official" nor would I punch their lights out (however much I felt like doing so).

I would calmly, but in a loud voice, say. I need to speak to your supervisor now please!

I can see how some "officials" may think they have the upper hand and that they have got you by the small spherical objects but that would not stop me!

May I suggest that the OP does something similar!

    How very Dare they?

Bit sensitive, aren't we? If you were overly PC enough to waste the supervisor's time to make an extremely petty complaint about something as trivial as that, you deserve everything you get. Just smile and tell them it's a Thai name.

Change their name to "Bob" then if their real name embaresses you. Just think how embaressing your name is to them in Thailand. The name "Pathetic" may be acceptible in western world but being Pathetic in Thailand is not.

  14. You have been getting visa exempt entries not a visa.

By the written rules you are doing nothing wrong. They cannot deny entry for doing it. Entry can only be denied under sections 12 of the immigration act. Having your ticket out and the equivalent of 20k baht in cash would overcome any denial under section 12.

Phuket is the worst airport for pulling people to the side for questioning after doing several exempt entries.

Ok i thought it was a 30 day tourist visa, thanks for clarification. I will start carrying the 20 thousand baht with me from now on. I have a Thai bank account too, would it be wise to carry or just the cash?

If you have a Thai bank with ATM card, why not draw out 20k on arrival and then you have the cash plus you have an ATM slip to show your accessible Thai funds...then once through immigration, go to a bank in the airport and deposit the money back in to your account.

Simply because there are no atm airside of immigration. Love these so called experts. We bring in between 300 to 500000 a month to thailand so maybe a little special leeway is ok. Could always go spend elsewhere I guess. But I think we are the sort thailand wants. Come and spend a heap of cash.
  15. Please remember that they shortly will roll out the finger print entry protocol as in Singapore and I think Malaysia. If anyone has been finger printed previously for a crime they will be stopped and denied entry even if he has changed his name.

Lots of Africans come here, get caught for a minor drug case get 2 years jail, then come back to Thailand with a new identity and funny get caught for another small drug case!

After they have been finger printed the second time, we find the original identity and they have a lot bigger problem.

If you are black banned and caught reentering the Kingdom with a new name you are just deported not jailed!

"After they have been finger printed the second time, WE find the original identity and they have a lot bigger problem". Whats with the "WE"? Are you with the immigration or tourist/volunteer police?

  16. So if you can afford it,take care of the overstay problem now and if you don't have the funds for overstay but can afford to fly domestic, then you don't belong here.Get the hell out and quit being a bum hope the BIB are checking docs at the airport just for you.

You are such a caring sweet person. Bet your address book with all your friends names and addresses in is really full blink.png . Where does it say he has no money? He is on a 30 day visa. Obviously a tourist so has flown in recently so had money for that. He is on holiday so I would venture to guess he bought funds with him for that. Yor TV name does not fit well with your comments. Sanukjim? Happyjim?

  17. Any places to avoid the squalor and rat infested areas

If I go to Philippines then Manila is completely off the list and so would be dangerous areas of Muslim insurgent kidnappings.

They say the Philippines is the only place where consular assistance is needed by UK nationals more than Thailand.

Where is to be recommended where you are not constantly looking over your shoulder?

Subic bay or Olongapo is ok. Cebu area is great
