  1. It doesn’t say where this particular company is operating illegally? Surely that is the important point. As a counter to this sort of article my Thai wife worked in the UK for 5 years. She took a job from the “locals” but why is this an issue? Perhaps Thailand needs to work out that question first before they get outraged and work out why it’s an issue?
  2. The government may think they are saving money but if pensioners have to return home to then need housing and expensive NHS care then ultimately it will cost them more. It’s also not the policy in EU countries which the UK left a few years back. Perhaps it will change now that UK citizens who have left the country longer than 15 years (I think) have regained the right to vote.
  3. As a Hua Hin resident I would welcome more flights into this airport especially if it started a regular flight to the south of Thailand (Phuket, Krabi). My wife pointed out that it is likely it would mainly be used by residents as a tourist visiting Hua Hin and then Phuket is likely to want to fly back to Bangkok after their holiday and not return to Hua Hin. One negative point is that I’ve heard all this before and instead of more flights we’ve lost the only international flight to Kuala Lumpur and so currently the only place it flies is Chiang Mai.
